This is an excellent video. When I was diagnosed with end stage kidney failure it was a shock. I was active, a cyclist, it just hit me out of the blue. My first day of dialysis was a complete mind blower. Why was I here? These people all look sick I don't belong here. I had to adjust and soon came to realize everything was fine. I am still active and live my life normally. My spirits are high and I have a great team of technicians, doctors and nutritionists monitoring me and encouraging me. Life is FAR from over!!!

Know the feeling, thought i was getting a little unfit until i collapsed at work then found out the same day i have stage 5 CKD, the worst part about that day was overhearing the doctor say "hes got end of life kidney disease" - I thought I was finished but life is still going with the help of dialysis 👌

UPDATE 3/17/2023: My cousin who began dialysis the same time as I did (roughly 4 1/2 years ago) just received a kidney transplant through the VA. He encouraged me to use my VA to get on their transplant list as they draw from a Nationwide database (here in California the wait is very long). I will be meeting with my primary to refer me to VA to get started.

20 Year old with Castleman disease with kidney failure here. I was scared for the treatment. I saw this video before i started my dialysis and it helped me calm down. When i started the treatment it went somewhat wrong and i was feeling sick and vomiting every time they started the machine within 10 minutes. So i was hooked up to an ICU dialysis machine which took over double the time 8-10 hours. But eventually it got better and i managed the normal machine.
Now a year later, my kidnes started to work again and my values are almost back to normal. Free healthcare in my country aswell was fantastic.
Thank you for producing this video for me and for everyone.

@@danieljaimes3077 I was lucky. My kidneys started to work again pretty fast only 4 months after they failed. Didn’t get permanent damage. And i don’t need dialysis.

I’m 31 yrs old and I was diagnosed with CKD a year ago. My kidneys have taken a turn for the worse over the past couple of months. I’m starting my third round of medications and praying things start improving. I didn’t realize how scared I was about this disease until I was told that we may need to start talking about next steps and preparing for dialysis. Watching this video made me cry, not only because I’m just starting this journey but seeing the strength and positivity of these fighters. I’m thankful for a community that creates content like this and shows support on not just the physical aspect but the emotional side too.

    Look after your kidneys people
    Functions of Kidneys:
    1. To excrete fluid out of our body
    2. To remove the toxins of our body'
    3. To produce hormones erythropoietin which is essential in production of red blood cells
Some ways how to care your Kidneys:
    1. Be careful with your blood pressure
    2. Avoid Diabetes
    3. Be careful of all chemicals like legal and illegal drugs you take
    4. Live healthy lifestyle

I am 64 year old. I always knew the function kidneys performed and I was well aware that kidney function got slowly worse as you age along with everything else. When I was told that my kidney function had dropped to 10% I wasn't scared because that doesn't help a thing. I am researching Hemodialysis and Peritoneal dialysis to see which is best for me. I decided on the Hemo because there is less chance of infection and you can bathe np because there is nothing external. Also it can be done at home with minimal fuss. If I choose to have it done in the hospital I will take up learning the guitar during those 4-5 hrs, if you are capable of doing that.

Rochelle I've been on dialysis for five years. The time has flown by for me. I travel in the US and have dialysis done where I'm visiting. I say that to let you know that you can move around, you are not stuck in one place. I think of my treatment as my spa time. I try out face masks, moisturizers and under eye pads or catch up on my sleep during treatments. My technicians and nurses are my close friends who are always good for laughs and jokes. My advice is to get the lidocaine from your doctor to reduce or eliminate the pain from the needles. I have three tubes in my house, so I never run out. I hope you're feeling better. Good luck to you.

Whoa, whoa, whoa there, Renelyn! You're 28 years old with a serious health condition that... guess what? DOESN'T RUIN YOUR LIFE. You and I would have been DEAD only 40-50 years ago. Instead we have to sit in a chair 4 hours a day 3 times a week and continue to live a pretty damned normal life. Yo, serious, LIVE your life. Imagine it was some serious cancer! So many blessings to count. So much to say "whew!" about. If you have to be depressed, don't let dialysis be the main component of your depression. It's probably something else in your life that you can deal with. Chin up! Hey, there are some pluses, you know? People take it easy on you, right? You don't have to do hard physical work, even though you secretly know you could, lol. Right? I know, believe me. Hey, here's an idea: MILK IT. Just a little, but milk it. Fact is, we DO need a little extra pampering, and it really is nice that we get it, right? My heart goes out to you. Hang in there, and CHIN UP!!! =)

Felecia I know you're scared. Know that you're Not Alone. I've been on dialysis for almost three years. It gets better after your body adjusts. I travel often and have treatment at centers where I am visiting. The one thing that makes it bearable to take the needles is 4 percent Lidocaine cream, gel or spray to your access site. Be generous with the cream wait about an hour then wash it off. They say wrap your arm in plastic wrap to keep it on. Whatever works. The point is you won't feel the needles when they go in or the pain is reduced by two thirds. If you're lucky you will go to a center where the Techs are very supportive and friendly. I feel like I'm seeing my friends. I use spa face masks and have my earbuds to look at movies on my phone in the chair. Make the diet and lifestyle changes you have to do to stay off dialysis if possible.
It's tiring but I work hard to keep myself healthy.
Look up the Artificial kidney project. It will be great if they get that to work for us someday. That's something to hope for a long with your prayers.

For you to eat the same healthy foods then you eliminate the toxins worse in your body and must create the lower energy sources and to always create the body temperature regulation to normal of slower metabolism of lower energy sources so you to eliminate the faster metabolism in colder temperatures and eliminate the drinking cold stuff because of the faster metabolism from cold drinking because the faster metabolism will create your toxins to hit you harder to then more sickness so it's to always keep the lower energy sources to always keep the body temperature regulation because it creates the slower metabolism rate to create the lesser toxic metabolism to not hit you harder to more sickness by Nicholas c seccia

    • @tiramisu5901
      @tiramisu5901 11 місяців тому +2

In US, more and more African Americans are experiencing CKD/Failure because of uncontrolled high blood pressure. Take your BP meds as instructed by Dr., buy a BP monitor and check regularly, lower salt intake to 1500-2000 mg daily and drink water when thirsty, no sodas or energy drinks. Also, more salt one consumes, the more water one drinks, leading to swelling in body, leading to higher than normal BP. Making simple changes in diet and exercise will keep BP under control and prolong the life of kidneys. DON’T TAKE YOUR KIDNEYS FOR GRANTED, please.God bless.
