Thanks. I use an older Link tone edge on my Yanagisawa 880, and while I wasn’t seriously thinking of changing, your demonstration reaffirms my inclination to stay with this set up on this horn.
I've played all of these except the Jody Jazz. I sound the same on all of them. The main differences being resistance and projection. If I had to pick one of these it would be the Gaia. I have an original Gaia, it's extremely free blowing with almost no resistance. That's probably why I'm playing a Brilhart Tonalin made in the mid fifties, same sound, but with a touch of resistance that suits me.
Before you even started talking I had picked the older link as my fave. But (and this is a big but teehee) you still sound like you no matter the piece. All preference and comfortability I guess.
Primero compré la jody jazz hr 7 pero no me agrado por lo que dijiste muy brillante e sonido no definido. Ahora estoy usando la meyer 7 aunque en el video me gustó el sonido de la otto link.
In my ears, the Theo Wanne Gaia has the richest sound.... I myself have a Jody Jazz for my tenor. 4:08 I'm getting close to look for a used Theo Wanne for my tenor, with chracteristics like the Gaia.
That's my own composition titled Stars. You can find a full band performance on my old trio's album "Ink": pinkmonkey.bandcamp.com/track/stars-in-the-sky-arent-as-beautiful-as-your-eyes
I'm surprised it took this many years to get this comment. I sound like me, regardless of setup. From the players perspective things like resistance, tone and response will vary piece to piece with little impact to external sound. One of the points of making this video was to highlight that fact ~100 Link Tone Edge is not going to be that different than a ~800 Theo Wanne Gaia.
No matter what mouth piece is used, the playing is fantastic! Thanks for sharing.

Once you've established your sound concept gear only does so much. There's no need to spend a paycheck on a mouthpiece.
i bought a otto link years ago wouldunt even dream of changing it for anything out there.once you find your sound keep it
Can I know what is the piece you played ?@@timkoelling4095
@@AlvinsThoughts It's an original composition
@@timkoelling4095 it is yours?
Brilliantly edited play test
not bad playing too !
Amazing.Thank you. Otto Link is unbeatable.....👍🎷
Wish someone made this video but with the size 6 openings.
All sounded Beautyful but If I had to choose one it would be the Otto Link, it had the higher edges smoothed down to a sexy old school sound.
I just picked up a Gaia 2 for 295 definitely alot more worth it after hearing this

Which one is brighter and which have more projection between the Meyer and the jody jazz?
I'd say the Jody Jazz is brighter than the Meyer. It's hard to say regarding projection since I've never gigged with the Meyer, but the JJ cuts more.
Hi! Which one do you think is brighter between Meyer and otto link?
No estoy muy seguro ,la Mayer
Otto link❤
Are you using the java green 3 or the java red 3?
Green
Meyer !
What song were you playing?

@@timkoelling4095 would you happen to have a sheet music that I could have or buy for the song?
@@braedenmorris3160 I do not. It's a great time to to try to learn it by ear or transcribe
Berapa sepaket
La Mayer sax alto.me gustó.
Which one do you like?
Lately I've been playing the Gaia, but I always end up going back to the Link
otto link!
Otto link
To my ears they all sound much the same. A bit shocking considering the price difference.
