This was great! That thousand-yard stare when talking about the end of Ninth House? I felt that in my bones. (I’m curious about what will happen with that most interesting character, but I’ll wait for a recap because I cannot be bothered.)
Dang it! I dripped lunch on my phone so I whipped it off, then I got the notification “feedback shared with the creator.” I’m so sorry Jess! I have no idea what my napkin told you!
The instant you said "you want specific classes and great teachers" I knew it was Deadly Education 😂 I also cackled at your description of The Love Hypothesis, even though I actually loved it!
“To the people who say I’ll change my mind about having children” 👏 I DO have a child, I love her dearly, but I know people who don’t want children and I think that’s great! No one “has” to have children and it’s so annoying to think people can’t be completed without them or that “just” a couple isn’t a family (it is!) This video is so cathartic, you took so much of my inner anger to annoying people and you put it all in a video 🙌👏 thank you!! -sincerely, a huge people pleaser 😫
I would recommend 2 series to my enemies: "A Song of Ice and Fire" and "Berserk" the manga, bec. they are good (albeit very traumatising) BUT more importantly, they arent finished. There is no end to Berserk, bec. the creator is dead and I doubt GRRM's ability to finish his book series ever. So my enemies would be left hanging all the rest of their lives. *villainous cackle
This is the BEST video! You are unapologetically my favorite booktuber, not just for similar taste but your representation, calling folks out, and just all around straight up honest thoughts. You're awesome.
This was fun, I enjoyed the pettiness! We all need some books to recommend our enemies :D Unfortunately, I can't recommend the raven cycle to the 'you'll change your mind' crowd because I actually like the series :')
Jess, I love your channel and as a fan, I recommend you read the Raybearer duology by Jordan Ifueko. Both books are less than 400 pages and I think you’d really enjoy it as it’s a LOT different from most YA fantasy. At the very least, I hope you’ll read a sample and see what you think. Love you, Jess 💝
Raybearer is so freaking good. It is obviously very different, but the magic of the world reminded me of something I loved about Narnia: how the magic is a part of the land, its history, its people, and its creatures. Tarisai, the main character, is better than any of the Pevensie children imo though. READ IT JESSSS. 🙏🏽
Lol as a fan of the raven boys I feel called out 😂 also I feel like we've all had that roommate makes me so happy I don't live with anyone right now. Love this premise it's like the opposite of if you liked this you might like this. Oh god don't put Musk-rat running for president out into the universe Jess I can't deal with more celebs in politics...
OMG Jess...I am in pieces laughing at this. This is fantastic! As to the children question I'm almost 40, and I told my parents decades ago I was going to become a nun. 😂. If I ever am financially stable I'd like to foster and adopt.
The proud Slytherine 😑 Ahahahahahah. What an amazing video. This really got my brain working for what I’d recommend to my enemies too! Those raggedy bitches!! The adventures of Huck Finn is great torture! 😂
Why hasn't UA-cam evolved to let us use gifs to respond because mere words cannot express how much I enjoyed this video. My inner petty girl is cackling.
It was fun trying to guess what book you would recommend based on the description! Lmao I got two of them correct although I should have remembered Ninth House and Deadly Education! Also life with your old roommate sounds like a terrible time 😂 but I think you have to have at least one infuriating experience. I've always wondered if people just weren't exposed to basic social etiquette or if they just threw it all away when they went to college/got a space of their own lmao.
"You'll change your mind about having kids." Me: "Yeah, I already did change my mind and decided I didn't want any." Those people are super annoying. My life is fulfilling. Go have (more?) your own children. I would recommend to them "Everything I Never Told You". Super great story, but it really shows you how you can really fuck up your kids.
Looool for the mystery with a satisfying twist I would give them The Maidens. That twist came outta NOWHERE with NO hints. I hate it, and having the deal with the insufferable psychologist narrator is its own punishment.
Talking about Huck Finn gave me flashbacks to 11th grade English where the white teacher (who loved to tell us about how he used to be a pastor) had us read the book out loud in class and said to "read the n-word because that's how it was written." We were all so uncomfortable. God, I hated that class. 🤦♀️ Anyways, loved the video! Your anti-recommendations were great.
Oh man, I deserve to be rebuked by Jess. I for sure thought she was going to bring Atlas Six down upon her enemies. LOL! Great video, Jess! Today is my birthday, and this was the perfect treat. I hope everyone has a good week.
I was trying to drink my coffee while watching this and it was a battle not to spit it out every few seconds 🤣 Thank you for this wonderfully entertaining content. 💛
I found this video and it made me laugh so hard. I needed this so much!! My enemy is the vain, materialistic, try-hard ex girlfriend of my husband. She has tried to get him back several times even when she knew I was with him 🙄 She composes music for a living and thinks she’s amazing because of it. Do you have a book recommendation for her? 🤣
i cackled at the raven cycle recommendation 😅 so glad i decided not to read past book one, i was already upset about the lack of a payoff in that....i probably would've gone insane if i'd actually ended the series only to realize that nothing actually changed
i'm actually very concerned with the roommates you've had because they sound terrible! and ngl all these recs seemed a little personal 😂loved this so much
...but I love 9th House. Though I will say the story made itself intentionally convoluted by being told out of time. It really doesn't add anything to the story. And structurally there were some issues. But still, 9th House was fun 😅 Lol Huck Finn though, fuck that book and fuck Mark Twain's stories in general. His essays are fine but I genuinely don't like any of his books. It's funny when people summarize the plots and torture to read--which says to me that Twain sucks as a fiction writer.
I so agree with you about The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Tom Sawyer also)! Had to read that crap twice in Junior High School and I still don't know what that damn book is about. Unmemorable waste of time.
omg about the raven cycle, that's so true. I wasted my time reading that series because a friend recommended it and then I got to the last book thinking wow how is the author going to explain all this? And then it was so bad, I still to this day do not understand the supposed "explanation" for anything that happened lol
I found this hilarious because I have 0 desire to read any of these books. Yet, The Raven Boys is one of my favorite series, so I had to laugh at myself. I felt it was more of a character study than a plot driven series. The sequel series gets even more bizarre. I love this video. So funny but legit.
This is has me rethinking if I'm actually the enemy of everyone who's recommended me a bad book. This was such a clever video idea!
This is the best booktube content I’ve ever seen. THE GIRLS ARE EATING with this one!🙌🏾
I completely died at "Fuck off, Chad!!". This ENTIRE video was pure gold.
I was waiting for The Love Hypothesis to come up! And these were perfect and had me thinking which books I would give my enemies.
Saaaaame this will be a fun train of thought to follow for the rest of the week
The 'resolution' for The Raven Boys series is "It's not about the outcome, but the friends we made along the way."
This is one of my favorite videos you have EVER done. Truly the energy 2022 deserves. 😇
This was great! That thousand-yard stare when talking about the end of Ninth House? I felt that in my bones. (I’m curious about what will happen with that most interesting character, but I’ll wait for a recap because I cannot be bothered.)
This is like a slam book. A BookTube slam book book recs video 😆 Also, “kick rocks” paired with a curse word is now my new favorite insult!
“Because it’s traaaaaaash” ahahahaha got me spitting out my coffee, so hilarious
Same. I feel like a lot of morning coffee was sacrificed to this video. 🤣
Dang it! I dripped lunch on my phone so I whipped it off, then I got the notification “feedback shared with the creator.” I’m so sorry Jess! I have no idea what my napkin told you!
This has me cracking up
When Jess starts talking about this old roommate and her dog *pours tea in cubicle* I need a whole story time, please!
Genuinely of the funniest booktube videos I've ever seen. I wanna make a list like this now 😅
The instant you said "you want specific classes and great teachers" I knew it was Deadly Education 😂 I also cackled at your description of The Love Hypothesis, even though I actually loved it!
🤣🤣🤣 Loved this. My old roommate can read the love hypothesis on repeat for the rest of her life for turning the heat on in the summer 🙄
holy shit, i also had a roommate who turned on the heat to the max in summer 😭
“To the people who say I’ll change my mind about having children” 👏 I DO have a child, I love her dearly, but I know people who don’t want children and I think that’s great! No one “has” to have children and it’s so annoying to think people can’t be completed without them or that “just” a couple isn’t a family (it is!) This video is so cathartic, you took so much of my inner anger to annoying people and you put it all in a video 🙌👏 thank you!! -sincerely, a huge people pleaser 😫
These people are described so specifically but they are all so real and I relate so much 😂
The ‘You’ll change your mind’ people! I love that series but I am CACKLING 😂 Absolutely adore this video and you.
Jess, I cannot tell you how much I needed this video today.
SCREAMING. CHAD!!! I knew when this kicked off with Project Hail Mary I was gonna love this 🤌🤌🤌🤌🤌
THE ROOMMATE. omg I’m living for this video 🤟🤟🤟
THE SECOND ROOMMATE!!!! 🤣🤣🤣
*villainous cackle
the "huge payoff" and then seeing Lily Blue's cover had me CACKLING. ///so fucking true/// I love(maybe) those books but strong misery payoff
This is the BEST video! You are unapologetically my favorite booktuber, not just for similar taste but your representation, calling folks out, and just all around straight up honest thoughts. You're awesome.
This video was so funny! Love the energy & the attitude! Somehow I just knew the last one was gonna be the love hypothesis
I feel like I fall under the second stereotype too hard 😂😂😭 ill read prince of thorns next as punishment
😂😂😂 Don't do that to yourself noooo
This video is a masterpiece. I’m obsessed.
This was fun, I enjoyed the pettiness! We all need some books to recommend our enemies :D
Unfortunately, I can't recommend the raven cycle to the 'you'll change your mind' crowd because I actually like the series :')

when i tell you this video absolutely SENT me, this is literally the best thing i've ever watched!
Not a paper cut! 😆 this is a great twist to worst books of the year! Love it!
Jess keeping the stellar content coming!✨✨✨📚
Me looking at my shelf where I own but have not read Hail Mary, Deadly Education and Ninth House 👁👄👁
"wildly basic" is going in my dating profile
also i love nigel so much!!!!
what a funny video idea. love this so much.
LMAO musk rat 🐀 😂😂😂😂
I've never laughed so hard 😂😂😂 Great video idea and execution, I loved it!
OMG Jess...I am in pieces laughing at this. This is fantastic!
As to the children question I'm almost 40, and I told my parents decades ago I was going to become a nun. 😂.

The proud Slytherine 😑
Ahahahahahah. What an amazing video. This really got my brain working for what I’d recommend to my enemies too! Those raggedy bitches!!
The adventures of Huck Finn is great torture! 😂
“Kick rocks, bitch!” I can’t stop cackling. Amazing.
This needs to be a recurring topic! Just the laugh I needed after work!
Why hasn't UA-cam evolved to let us use gifs to respond because mere words cannot express how much I enjoyed this video. My inner petty girl is cackling.
This was awesome 😊. Completely made my morning. I would have never thought of this
Feeling so validated about Huck Finn. It was assigned in high school and I definitely didn't finish it.
great video omg and i loveeee your smile and laugh :)
I'm loving this! And I love that having a terrible roommate seems to be a universal experience...
I love everything about this 🤣 what if we submitted descriptions of our enemies and you give book recommendations 👀
OMG I feel exactly the same about the people who say I will "change my mind". Drives me nuts and I love your book recommendation for those people lol
Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one who hated the Love Hypothesis. That book was so annoying. I love this video so much!

This was the best thing I’ve seen in so long! Thank you for making me laugh this week!
🤣 as someone who enjoyed the Love Hypothesis I enjoy so much hearing you roast it!
Tell me how I predicted those last two books 😂😂 Love this video Jess
Looool for the mystery with a satisfying twist I would give them The Maidens. That twist came outta NOWHERE with NO hints. I hate it, and having the deal with the insufferable psychologist narrator is its own punishment.
This is the kind of inspiration I needed this morning. God bless 😂
I loved this! This was fun to watch, and also quite a clever idea.

Anyways, loved the video! Your anti-recommendations were great.
😮😮😮😮
Lol!! This is amazing. I low key want to do something like this.
Was anyone else trying to guess which book was going to be recommended while Jess was saying the plot points?!? 😂 I loved it!
So glad I don't have to read the Raven Wars series now! I'm curious what recommendations you would make for your friends in these categories haha
Omg, so many great one-liners from this video, lol
Came here for the Ninth house roast LOL as always u don't disappoint
I fucking adored your pettiness hahaha, this was *beautiful*
This video is so wholesome. I love it !!
This is so funny 😁 And Nigel is so adorable!
this is such a unique and cool video idea
Oh man, I deserve to be rebuked by Jess. I for sure thought she was going to bring Atlas Six down upon her enemies. LOL!
Great video, Jess! Today is my birthday, and this was the perfect treat. I hope everyone has a good week.
This whole video just has an 'I'm Not Bitter ' vibe to it. and I love it. I love all of it. lol.
This is gold pure gold
I was trying to drink my coffee while watching this and it was a battle not to spit it out every few seconds 🤣 Thank you for this wonderfully entertaining content. 💛
Prince. Of. Thorns. Fuck that book.
This is such a good video idea!! i absolutely enjoyed it i love u sm
I haven't read most of these books but Prince of Thorns is so bad, it's definitely a punishment 😂 Loved this video! ❤️
love this channel
This is hilarious! Also informative 😆
Jess saying "this book is trash and so are you" for 22 min and 32 secs and I loved every bit
lmffaaoooo holy shit you cackle me so much. also if it wasn't or Ronan or Adam...i would have abandoned that Raven Cycle mess on book 1
This is the salt I needed with my eggs this morning. Thank you 😂
I love this video's premise.
I feel so seen about how I feel about The Raven Boys.
The unhinged energy here is *chef kiss* ✨immaculate✨
Mama I made it! I got mentioned in a Jess video. From now on anyone who wants to talk to me can reach me through my agent. 😎
Lolol this is so good. And I even enjoyed some of these books, but loved this video 😂
Great video idea! This was so entertaining to watch!
i cackled at the raven cycle recommendation 😅 so glad i decided not to read past book one, i was already upset about the lack of a payoff in that....i probably would've gone insane if i'd actually ended the series only to realize that nothing actually changed
"You had me going this entire time only for it to fall. Collapse. Fall apart. DISINTEGRATE."
ROLLING-
This video is so funny I love the energy 😂😂
I was waiting for The Love Hypothesis lmaooo
i'm actually very concerned with the roommates you've had because they sound terrible! and ngl all these recs seemed a little personal 😂loved this so much

Ooo fanks
Adding these to my DBR list 😅
I so agree with you about The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn (Tom Sawyer also)! Had to read that crap twice in Junior High School and I still don't know what that damn book is about. Unmemorable waste of time.

i LOVE THIS SO MUCH! 😅 😂 🤣And I KNEW The Love Hypothesis was going to make an appearance!!! TFS🙂
You know I live for this kind of pettiness 😈
Why couldn’t you have been there to warn me about Ninth House. You perfectly described my feelings about that book. 😆
