This is one of the most iconic songs of all time!! Its been used in movies, commercials and video games. Speaking of cowbells, there's a hilarious episode of Saturday Night Live where they spoof the band recording this song...the skit is called "More Cowbell"😆😆😆 Y'all should watch it if you get the chance!!🎶💜
This is one of the most iconic songs of my late 20"s. I am forevered bless to have seen them performed this live. Try to name an equal to this song, I dare you!!!
50 yrs 1972 - 2022 ( 55 yrs as a group 1967 "Soft White Underbelly", "Oaxaca", "Stalk Forrest Group", "BOC"), You cannot define this band in any category, they fit in so many that they are confused with others. They are still playing live (their moto is "On Tour Forever") and just released their 2020 new album called "The Symbol Remains" listen to "the Alchemist". If you are in the LA area they will be here on May 30 LA County Fair with the band Kansas and in San Diego Aug 5
Went to their concert in the late 70s. It was in a symphony orchestra hall so the acoustics were fantastic with built in speakers all over. They actually played for three hours. Another big hit for them was Burnin' For You. Thank you for listening to these great suggestions.
Love this song!!!!! Cow bells!!! I think everyone can get different things from it.. But I see a person on their death bed who's being led by the hand to a new adventure. Death is part of life.. Don't fear the reaper.
Guys saw this band back in 70s. These guys had the best Lazer light show or the time. When they sang Godzilla this Hugh Godzilla head came up behind bang. Great concert
Alright, not gonna lie....... this was a great song to be chilling to while sitting veggin out in beanbag chairs and smoking some really good weed 🤣🤣🤣🤣..... totally bringing back high school memories 👌 😍🤣🤣
You now need to watch the spoof of this song being created in the studio. SNL Christopher Walken special guest plays producer in the studio. Gotta have more cow bell.
BOC and others were the bands I got introduced to when FM radio started to get big. That was where all of the non-mainstream groups were. AM was so full of bubble gum trash. Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, BOC, Frank Zappa, Johnny Inter, Edgar Winter and so many others had a cult level impact because of FM. FYI: I graduated High School in 1976.
I forgot to mention Electric Light Orchestra (E.L.O.), Yes, Golden Earring and so many, many others. Songs weren’t limited to the standard 2 1/2 - 3 minutes either. Some tracks were 15 - 20 minutes long. Do yourself a solid and listen to the tracks from Deep Purple’s “Made In Japan” album. The songs on that are so much better than the studio versions. Even the members of Deep Purple said that something about that tour clicked and they were at their absolute finest.
The first rock song I love at 10years old because my older brother had Moving Pictures was Tom Sawyer. At least once a day I'd be downstairs in my oldest 2brothers room singing learning the words. My brothers apparently thought this was hilarious and when their friends would come over they'd ask me to sing it.i really got into the chorus.🤣 I'm 49 this remains my favorite group.
There are many different types and shapes of wooden blocks that drummers use. Imho some of them can sound very similar to a cowbell. Cheers from the canadian Queen nut
An all time favorite for me. I’m retired now but there was a month or so I’d ask Alexa to play this before leaving for work. Almost like an unexplicable state of mind, fantastic song.
They have way more than "a handful of good songs" if you start digging deep into their albums. My 'Best Of' play list is nearly four hours long (46 songs). The only play lists that I have longer than that are Pink Floyd and Rush. Not saying they are in the same league as those bands, but you get my point. Wish I could have been there for that AC/DC concert.
@@norwegianblue2017 I agree with you. I mean they have a handful which most people can name or maybe even remember. I had three of their albums and enjoy more than just a handful. A Punk band I was in, playing bass, played our punk'd version of Godzilla.
Song is a lot deeper than you may think: Love of two is one Here but now they're gone Came the last night of sadness And it was clear she couldn't go on Then the door was open and the wind appeared The candles blew and then disappeared The curtains flew and then he appeared Saying don't be afraid Don't be afraid when it's your time, on to the next.
I can't listen to this song without thinking and laughing to myself over the SNL skit they came out with. "I feel the need. The NEED for more cowbell." 😂😂😂 It's a great song but that skit just makes me laugh every time.
This was the song that I first set my speakers up in each corner of the room for, with my chair in the middle, quadraphonic with 12 speaker's pulsing, a smoke 🚬 and a glass of scotch🥃 in a dark room - bliss
I can’t hear this song without thinking of Stephen King’s The Stand. My older cousin was a major King Stan & when she found out I was reading all his books and The Stand was easily my all time fav book ever, (it shares top spot with Max Brooks’ World War Z now) she told me to watch the miniseries that had been made of it. It starts with this song & it legit gave me the chills. I usually only get chills over really gross sht like exploding pus or grotesque foot fungus vids. It was just perfect playing over the beginning of a viral apocalypse. The rest of the mini series was ok, but that opening scene was just so tight. Also you should watch Will Farrell and snl doing a skit about the making of this song. My brother in law is a libertarian and I’m half way to communist, but we watch that vid together routinely & it never gets old. It’s stupid dumb but in the best way.
Blue Oyster Cult ( or B.O.C.) dominated the 70's decade w/ their brand of dual-guitar rock and lyrics inspired by sci-fi and fantasy fiction themes. They debuted in 1972... but their break came in 1974 w/ the 3rd album 'Secret treaties'... This song was off their 4th album 'Agents of fortune' in 1976, and B.O.C. were playing arenas at that point. The band's 1981 album 'Fire of unknown origin' was their last commercial success... After that, B.O.C. fell out of favor in the 80's, despite carrying on & releasing new music into the 90's. Eric Bloom (guitar/ keys/ vocals) and Donald 'Buck Dharma' Roeser (guitar/ vocals) are the only original members left from their inception... B.O.C. would tour often, but only recently released a new album - 'The symbol remains' in 2020 (Their last album was in 2001 - 'Curse of the Hidden Mirror') . B.O.C. is sadly overlooked today, w/ their early hits keeping them in business... Blue Oyster Cult classics - 'Godzilla' ... 'Burning for you' ... 'Astronomy' ... "Cities on flame with rock n' roll"... "This ain't the summer of love"
For real y’all should be getting more subscribers y’all really doing it. The diversity is better than most people doing reactions. Don’t worry about stopping and talking you reacting that’s what u suppose do. Stay up Playa
Yeah, I caught what you were trying to say about the smokin' vibes. Lol That's exactly what a LOT of us were doing while listening to this back in the day! Friends. A comfy beanbag chair. A fat doobie. This song on your stereo. Oh, yeah. Good memories for sure. 👍😘 😑
Man this song takes me back to my childhood! What great memories growing up in Puerto Rico and listening to B.O.C.! I used to drive the west coast of the whole island listening to this song and their album, That whole album is awesome! Great tune that’s for sure! You guy’s should also listen to “burning for you” and “Godzilla” 👌😎👍
Hey guys, if ya want to see something that is straight 🔥🔥 Then you got to check out the most under-rated guitarist there was... all the big names knew him well. Roy Buchanan doing Jimi Hendrix's "Hey Joe" Personally,, Stevie Ray Vaughan is my favorite and Roy is my 2nd choice. Hope you check it out!!
This song is about a girl who is contemplating suicide and ultimately decides to do it. It was very controversial when it came out because some parents thought that it could lead kids into committing suicide. Gotta love that riff though!!🙂
Check out Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla" next! Speaking of cowbell, watch the SNL skit "More Cowbell", which is supposed to be a behind the scenes "Don't Fear the Reaper" being recorded in the studio. It's hysterical and features Christopher Walken, Will Ferrell, Jimmy Fallon, Chris Kattan, Chris Parnell, and Horatio Sanz. 🤣😎
One of their best and most popular songs, they were an awesome band, especially the original band from the 70s who should be in the HOF. Some more great tunes are Cities On Flames With Rock and Roll, Godzilla, ODed on Life and Nosferatu. One of the pioneering bands that leads to metal and they have many great albums. 19 times I saw them between 1972 and 2012, they never let me down and between the 5 guitar onslaught I saw in the early days and the incredible laser light shows a few years later, this band had the show and the chops to play with anyone else. (Sabbath, Priest, Maiden, Scorpions, UFO, Aerosmith, amongst many others). Enjoy! 🎸
Check out BOCs first two albums. It's some of their best stuff. "She's As Beautiful As A Foot" "Cities On Flame With Rock 'N' Roll" "OD'd On Life Itself"

You are about to hear one of the most iconic and original songs of all time. I grew up listening to Blue Oyster Cult.
Great musicians
Two other great songs from them are 'Godzilla' and 'Burning For You'.

Hell yeah it’s a smoking song!
I’m proving that true right now!!

I saw them in concert 3 times in the 70s in Buffalo and Niagara Falls, NY. The laser beam shows they did were amazing!!!
Why am I getting Will Ferrell and Hillary Duff vibes?
