probably the best backing vocals in the world. they are off beat the first two times, and then right on the beat ('right on time') when Inanna manifests at the end of the song. Magic.
@susanking I agree completely I'm a fuckin huge NIN fan and I agree that Trent and Tori would have made beautiful music. Their children would have probably changed the face of music as we know it.

because tori is quirky and she plays with words and vocal expressions to paint a picture. being grammatically correct is not the goal...the emotion is.
You wrote this 5 years ago, but maybe you are still intersted in an answer ? I found this : VERB: third-person singular simple present indicative form of foot NOUN: The settlings of oil, molasses, etc., at the bottom of a barrel or hogshead
To me this song is about a woman going, alone, for an abortion. Not only is she emotionally vulnerable, but she is terrified, because at the time this song came out, abortion clinics were being bombed everywhere.
This is some Silence of the Lambs "it puts the lotion on its skin" level shit that someone go to the extreme to make all these videos. I bet Tori hates this.
Well would you prefer a low effort lyric vid behind a generic background? And I'm sure she likes it no more than any other artist since a lot of people use MP3 downloaders rather than buying songs off itunes, but like all of them, she has the option of getting it pulled off UA-cam if she wants. Some musician's official channels have started making lyric videos of their own instead which I think is a step in the right direction.
This is my favorite Tori Amos song. You did a great job with the visuals. Really makes an impression.
First Tori song I heard, I missed her first two albums. My cranky uncle heard it and was like "this chick is crazy"
Knew right then she must be cool
Caught a lite sneeze, dreamed a little dream, made my own pretty hate machine" best lyrics ever
For her buddy and occasional collaborator Trent Reznor.
@@petersmernoff9590yes!! Past the Mission.
Easily in my top 10 songs of the '90s, vastly underrated.
Wish there were any piano tutorials on that. Such a pretty song...
This vid is actually very fitting for Tori Amos's style! Freaking well done!
Thanks!
I love her Wicca style
Artistic, so beautiful
This is the best Tori song!!!
This Song is genius from Tori Amos, i love it! I can compare any song to this masterpiece!
Brilliant! The whole album is. Every Tori album.
THAT voice and beats make the song....tears and smiles it produces
didn't used to like this that much, love it now
Love this song
My fave xoxo
I'll be honest, Evans Blues cover on this is nearly a mirrored copy... Just in a different genre of music.
LOVE IT!
goddamn, even after 16 years this song is still so fucking amazing!
Boys on my left side boys on my right side boys in the middle...and you're ..not..here.
Beautiful slideshow ! From a fellow indigo enchantress...
BEAUTY.

Great Video Elysse!!!:)
I agree. I also read a fan comment where grammar is part of the order and discourse of the patriarchy. Tori always has reasons.
love love love
Love it!
Brilliant Song! As well as the whole album. Every Tori album is truly magnificent.

All we had in 1996 was Trent and Faith No More on the radio. Tori moved to our neighborhood and changed the landscape with feminine vocals.
Sayyyyy,
Mr St. John just bring ya Son....please and thank U🔥

When I saw the music video it was amazing
Here in 2020
I still say that she's saying she needs a big loan from a calzone
Hardcore video....
Isn't it "I've still got that bell dragging my foot's 'yes'"?

Got that Belle dragging my foots. Her menses is late in
😍
Evans blue made a bad ass cover of this song
storm gonzalez Literally just came here because of Evans Blue and can confirm
Thanks for the tip
Can someone please explain what this song is about?
Strange, they'll allow the song but not the video. Grand tune though.
because tori is quirky and she plays with words and vocal expressions to paint a picture. being grammatically correct is not the goal...the emotion is.
What are the lyrics being sung in the background?
I think just vocalizing. Singing without words.
for some reason this song reminds me of _pan's labyrinth_
Pan’s Labyrinth is my all time favourite film. Bjorne is a huge fan of the film too. :)
I used to listen to that over and over again when I found out my ex was gay.
does anyone know why Tori says "foots"? my english teacher would kill me for such plural.

To me it could be about a relationship gone wrong and needing her friends to help her.
Building- do ordain
"Belle" is the official lyric.
Found this thanks to Evans Blue
I wasn't the only one who heard the Evans Blue cover first! :D
is it just me or does anyone else think the eye at the end is very scary looking???
Mistress Sainte Jeanne...Non 'Mister St. John'.
Boys in the middle 😊
about her ex trent reznor
Made my own pretty hate machine! 💯
charles hamilton brought me here

This is about her doomed relationship with Trent Reznor, I can feel it
your lyrics are Way out...
"beauty, don't believe it all... mr St. John, just bring your son.."
such a Fine tune, don't denegrade the lyrics..
