    This is beyond brilliant! I found it as I was scrolling through suggested videos from a dinosaur diorama and I thought this was for a scale model raptor. I was pleasantly surprised to see it was a life size head. Really neat. 💖

    Fun fact:Velociraptors are actually around 1.5 ft tall, around the size of a turkey. However there are other species of raptor that are a lot bigger, for example, my favorite, the Dakotaraptor, it stands between 5-6 ft tall and 18 ft long, with a deadly 24 cm sickle claw.

      If we're talkig about the Jurassic Park "Velociraptors," Then i would consider them as Utahraptors. Utahraptors have less bird like features, much like the Velociraptors in Jurassic Park.
      I'm not directing this as hate, I'm just stating my opinion.

      TheDinosaurPugGiraffe I completely agree with you, I'm talking about the actual animal, I can't stop imagining them as viscous little ankle biters, still terrifying if you imagine a mob of them rushing towards you.

    I have a question, what method would you suggest for someone who wanted to make a costume head?
    Would you suggest a mesh in the neck or special domes for the eyes?
    Thanks
    I've been looking around forums but have had little luck on a solution

    • @AnyoneCanSculpt

      These templates tutorials are form into sculptures using upholstery foam and upholstery foam comes in various density from low,medium and high. All upholstery foam which ever the density is apply the same adhesive contact cement. So if you want to
      make a costume head project use high density on the section which needs support. This way it safer for the wearer I do have a few easy & inexpensive methods on costume eyes, will provide more details soon. Best--Boon

      Anyone Can Sculpt thanks so,so much. I'm actually a finance college student right next door to the extended art school. but these are from a movie, so those inaccuracies don't really matter. A turkey is a lot less scary than a 9 foot giant reptile

    • @riotbreaker3506

      I actually drew a life-sized Velociraptor, and it's way more foreboding than people realize. Sure it's no Ingen raptor, but taking into account its ability to jump and all its weaponry, Velociraptor is completely capable of taking down a full grown man.

    Awesome video, love seeing the project come to life! Without giving away any trade secrets, any chance of a video that might go over how the templates are created? Like...I understand the initial profile of the skull, then I imagine the middle area for creating raised features, but the process of breaking things down for a template both baffles and intrigues me lol!

    • @AnyoneCanSculpt
      @AnyoneCanSculpt  7 років тому +2

      Hi & Thank-you! it's not a trade secret...just need to go through the stages & methods of Template sculpting before moving on with breaking down process tutorials on how to create these Templates. Firstly I need to show how to achieve sculptures like Dinosaurs, Aliens, Monsters and Creatures with these Templates methods. I start with tutorials on just head sculpting and gradually move on wards with full body sculptures till the stage of creating Templates. Fantastic Question! Loved it!!!

    What density foam do you recommend for these? Soft, medium or firm? Thanks.

    • @AnyoneCanSculpt
      @AnyoneCanSculpt  7 років тому +2

      I always use medium density upholstery foam 1 inch or 1/2 inch thickness.
      Medium density helps keeps the shape when skinning with fabric.

      Thanks, I'm also trying to source the sprayable adhesive but can't seem to find any (it all seems to be the spray can type as opposed to the stuff you put through a spray gun). What brand of glue do you use? Could I use any type of contact adhesive or does it need to be a specially thinned down type to go through a spray gun?

    • @AnyoneCanSculpt
      @AnyoneCanSculpt  7 років тому +2

      Hi Brian... you can try going to a upholstery shop as they use spray on contact cement for all the foam works.
      You can thinned down just make small batch mix to see results before mixing the whole lot. Don't worry spray contact is easily available out there. Let me know if you need more information. Best--Boon

    Do you use pepakura at all for your template designs?

    • @AnyoneCanSculpt
      @AnyoneCanSculpt  7 років тому

      Another excellent question!!...well no I don't use pepakura...pepakura is a fantastic program for geometric shapes like body amour, helmets and so on. Anyone Can Sculpt Templates is more on organic shapes, still able to achieve geometric shapes with a steady hand LOL!!. Both roughly the same but entirely different in results. Best BOON!

    Question about the spandex... i'm trying to find some but all I'm getting is 95% polyester and 5% spandex. Other seller list it as Lycra spandex polyester. I'm seriously confused... what are you using your video? PS if there's a way you can make it waterproof after making details and painting, please let me know.

    • @AnyoneCanSculpt
      @AnyoneCanSculpt  7 років тому +1

      Hi! Michael I using the common spandex you can also use cotton & rayon lycra found in t-shirts and yoga wear. For waterproofing mix 50% liquid latex with 50% water base paint...you can choose any color as long it's water base. You can either paint it on with a brush but for best results use a spray paint gun. Stay Cool!--Boon

      Anyone Can Sculpt thank you for the information, however I was trying to find some at Walmart and they don't sell spandex in their fabric dept... we're not just making dinosaurs, we're also making monsters, so getting yards of this stuff would be uber beneficial. What I need to say is I'm looking for somewhere I can get this... like where you got it from.

    • @AnyoneCanSculpt
      @AnyoneCanSculpt  7 років тому

      You can get these fabrics @ Fabric World USA inc. Rex Fabric ,Spandex World, Spandex House Inc.still depends on where you are.

      Anyone Can Sculpt alrighty! Thanks for the tip about the liquid latex and the paint! I actually have some of that. Keep up the good work with yours! By the way if I might make a recommendation, I would love to see a realistic monster that you guys make on your own. Like for making the skin of an animatronic or a suit.
