I went to playa del carman and had an amazing time. Conote dos ojos is beautiful. Now that my only vaca spot and little do ppl believe the hotels are cheap as 23 dollars a night / 127 for a amazing week plus your flight and food = vacation in Mexico every year.
Great man! October in Playa del Carmen is a good time as long as its close to the end. It can rain in the afternoons so get things done in the Morning! When the weather is good there are so many things to do. Enjoy!
I loved every minute I spent in Playa thanks to your tips, subscribing!! Cenotes are amazing taking my family on my next trip. I wasn't thinking on getting out of the resort but you definitely made me doubt my decision, I am glad I did, it was so much fun. Just guys be smart about prices, haggling is part of the fun, enjoy :)
This is awesome to hear! Thanks. Yeah, haggling and getting ripped off is almost an inevitability in Mexico and Playa del Carmen especially, and it is sometimes very frustrating to deal with but you got the right attitude. Haggling is part of the fun. So glad you got out and enjoyed things outside the resort! So many people stay poolside but without seeing the cenotes and the towns, can they really say they've been to Mexico? Glad you did some exploring, sounds like you had a great trip! More top 5 videos to come from other parts of the world. Appreciate your support!
Xplore is super fun, small Jeep almost go kart style ride u drive through open road and caves, zip lines about 21 zip lines, under water river ur choice 10 min or 30 min river two different lanes once inside and crappy little paddle boat.great place. I would say Xel-ha should make it on the list too. Amazing place. Water adventure. Water slide from light house, snorkeling, Mayan cave, jump offs, small zip lines, amazing wild life, my favorite they have modelo beer! All inclusive places. Don’t forget sunscreen, bug spray, & watershoes.
That is a comprehensive breakdown of Xplor! Haha. Yes it is a great place ... I didnt put Xel Ha or Xcaret because I chose Xplor between the 3 parks but they are all great! Thanks for the comment!
There are a ton of restaurants along 5th avenue from seafood, to mexican, argentinian, a great brazilian buffet in the center of Playa del Carmen called Bovinos.
Thanks for the recommendations! I'll be out there next week. I'll be out there getting a feel for everything as I consider a move there for 6 months. I've been watching a ton of videos on UA-cam regarding Playa lately, Mexico Minute, etc... all very helpful info. Gracias!
Terrific to hear Randy! You will have an awesome time in Playa del Carmen. So many things to do outside of just the beach and hanging out on 5th avenue etc. Getting outside Playa del Carmen is the best! Let me know if you need any further recommendations or have questions. You moving permanently? Looking to buy or going to rent?
Thanks! I'm looking forward to it. I will be visiting Playa for about 8 days starting Feb 27 and will be looking around at the different neighborhoods ( safe, rather quiet, good location and within my budget. Looking to start off with a 6 month rental starting later this year then?? Who knows? I may decide to buy. :)
***** No problem! You can shoot me any comments/questions in the comments section like here, on any video as it will notify me directly as soon as its posted. Also, other people can browse the questions in the comments about Playa del Carmen and get answers too!
Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle yes I am I been looking at all inclusive resorts I have 2 Kids and wanted to do a 2 bedroom and the rates are crazy I was looking at going around May for Labor Day weekend but the rate at grand velas Rivera was like 7k so not sure what I’m going to do yet make me want to leave the kids and go all out with the wife
Hi, great video thank you. We are going next April for 3 wks and can’t wait. I have listed and bookmarked your video and going to do your top 5 😃 but.... that all important question- what’s the weather like in April - we are there for a wedding. Many thanks x
Hey will ne taking your advice will be staying at grand rivera princess in about 2 weeks just wanted to know if taxis are a good option as wel to travel reason i ask is xplor charges $25 per person for a ride so trying to find cheaper alternatives to travle around outside of playa del carmen
Dont pay $25. You can hail down one of the 'collectivo' vans from the highway that are heading into Playa. They are coming from Cancun to Playa and their end destination is about 30 meters from the busses heading south to Tulum. On these busses, you can just mention you are going to Xplor and they will pull off right outside. Instead of $25 USD it will be $25 Mex. Pesos. I have a video on this channel that shows the busses you want to be looking out for!
Hey thanks so much for posting this video it was very informative. I will be in PDC this coming Friday the 7th and wanted to know if you knew of where to do a jetski/atv tour. I saw a jetski tour which included snorkeling but the sight looked kind of shady.
Thanks for the comment Daniel! I would suggest just going down to the beach in Playa del Carmen and walking along as there are places that offer jetski rental. I would not do something online that offers tours as you can sort it out, in person, when you are in Playa del Carmen. Last time I was down by Mamitas Beach (bottom of 26-28th street) I remember seeing people doing paragliding and jetski so I would suggest heading down there to look around! As far as ATV tours in Playa del Carmen, I know you can do tours with a group, which almost any tour operator will offer, or you can rent the ATV yourself. When you rent the ATV yourself in the center of Playa del Carmen, there is not a ton of offroading or things to see near the area, so a tour might be a good idea as they will take you to a cenote, have ATV's there to go off into the woods, and probably end at a beach. I would definitely sort all of it when you are actually down in Playa del Carmen. A lot of hotels offer tours directly out of their tour operator located on the property. Hope that helps Daniel. Enjoy your trip to Playa del Carmen!
Hi, im travelling to Cancun for 2wks the beginning of June it will be our 2nd time in Cancun we have stayed in Playa mujures and this year we are staying south of Cancun at the moonpalace. I love 52nd street/ave the swing bars are great and i totally agree about the cenotes the water is so fresh you can open your eyes under water an see so clearly .I was wondering what the temp reaches in June pls. PS: I loved your videos .
Hi Hannah. Thanks! Appreciate it. Isla Mujeres is my favourite place on the Riviera Maya, and 5th avenue always attracts a lot of tourists strolling down it. Its great. June is getting into summer so can get quite hot ... between 28 and 35 degrees and the humidity starts to increase but its not as bad as July, August or September. If you are staying at Moon Palace which is a good resort, you will be by the pools and the ocean breeze at all times.
Hey Heather! Best fishing is done pretty far off the coast but there are a lot of tour operators in town that offer sport fishing tours with everything ... including beer ... taken care of. I would suggest asking on 5th avenue to a tour operator and they will have contact info!
Thank you! I dont know any companies, but I have heard that cenote diving at "Dos Ojos" Cenote south of Playa del Carmen, north of Tulum, is one of the best ones to dive. When youre in Playa del Carmen, you can ask the tour shops and see which cenote you dive. Enjoy Playa del Carmen! Will be warm in August!
Hey Will. My wife and I were there in April and stayed at the Paradisus La Perla. We are going back on September 9th cause we loved it a lot. We did Xplor during that stay and not much else. We loved our resort however the beach was ok. I see you suggest to visit a Cenote. Out of the 3 you recommended which one would you do first. Also how safe is it to take taxis in Playa del Carmen? We wanted to go to 5th avenue but didn't feel to safe to take a taxi. Any suggestions would help. Thanks
Nice! Not sure if you know, but Paradissus is actually located on 5th avenue itself ... its just farther down where the construction has not reached yet but if you exited and went left ... you would be walking on 5th avenue, so no need to take a taxi. As far as the cenotes near Playa del Carmen, I would suggest checking out Cristalino, because it is the closest to Playa del Carmen, and the easiest one to get to by far. You dont need to take a taxi, but you can. You have no worries taking a taxi into Playa del Carmen or the surrounding areas, you only need to know the price, and agree the price before you get in. They do not have meters on the taxis so if you get in and know its, for example, 200 pesos to somewhere, from where you are, then when the taxi stops, agree that price, or something close, before you get in. Its the people who get in a taxi, and expect to pay a certain price, they will be in for a shock because the drivers will try to rip you off. Its extremely common. I have a video on this channel about the collectivos in the Playa del Carmen area and how to get around, so you can take one of those, ask for Cristalino Cenote and it will drop you right there, at a fraction of the taxi cost.
No problem, Ive been down with the Chikingunya Virus so that is something NOT to do in Playa del Carmen haha. Problem with the Caribbean and mosquitos but I had this video to put up for those coming down to the Playa del Carmen area!
You need to make it down, Eric - Playa is truly one of the most unique and amazing places there are. And it's a very short trip from the US and Canada.
what things can i bring for locals from canada ,,we want to go on a tour to check out mexico i like bringing gifts but never know really what they would like me to bring them
Anything sport related. A great guy I met down there, Kerry, brought down hockey sticks and got some games going and the kids loved it. Soccer balls, basketballs, anything they can use to play, and their imagination will take care of the rest.
I'm traveling in October and my friends are scared to come of the resort so that leaves me by myself to do some exploring. I'm a little nervous but I really like to explore. It'll be my first time there any advice on traveling alone and will I be safe?
Hey Denise - Playa del Carmen, although in the news lately for some bad things, is realistically one of the safer places in Mexico. Not to jump to conclusions but are you from the States? A ton of Americans I met down there were nervous at first when coming to Mexico, but realistically, you are in almost zero danger in the surrounding areas, especially in the day. You will see what I mean once you get down there and into Playa del Carmen proper and walk along 5th avenue. Get a few beverages in your friends and get the liquid courage flowing! Theres nothing to worry about. As for tips. Stay in lit areas during the night. Dont leave valuables on the beach in the day. I lived there for 3 years, never had one issue. You'll be fine.
Nice vid!! Can't wait. Please tell me Will, I am looking at studying remotely. Is the internet okay for on-line studies/and streaming video for instruction on-line or are there frequent issues with going suddenly off-lline in local homes/apts. The weekends will be awesome to explore some of your suggestions!! :)
Hey Blaze! Thanks for liking and commenting. Reality is, Playa del Carmen is a modern little city, but it is still Mexico, and thats not to be derogatory but you will have problems and the unfortunate thing is that when a problem occurs, more often than not it can be a while until it comes back. When the internet works, its not bad ... however countless amount of times it would drop for an hour or so. Or the cable company would cut off the cable or the internet for no reason, or by accident. Twice, we had a technician come to our street right in the center of Playa del Carmen, cut off the cable and internet to do some work, and then it was time for him to go home for the weekend! Hahaha our whole block was without cable or internet for the weekend and the company had no idea about any repairs going on in our area (the cable office is less than a block away from where I lived) Basically, my advice, is yes, you can work and study online, however have some serious patience and buy the best WiFi package available!
Very helpful, Will. Thank you so much. Will see if there are any larger packages or co-working spaces. I have a lead. I hope you have a terrific day out there! Aloha (I am from Hawaii.) ;)
No worries Blaze! Hope you have a terrific day out in paradise where you are, and hope everything goes smooth when you get down to Playa del Carmen. All the best!
Hey Rashod! Depends what you are into as I always ate at the local joints, because the big restaurants can be good, but are hit or miss and the price is jacked up. If you want to eat some good fish tacos, check out Aguachiles. There is one restaurant on 34th street and one just below 5th avenue on Constituyentes. Burgers, get a stuffed burger at Wah Wahs on the beach and 2nd. Wings, go to La Taberna on corner of 10th and 4th. Piolla is a great restaurant in Playa del Carmen for some casual fine dining, but the taco stands near Mega supermarket are is the place to go for street meat tacos! Yes - Tulum will have much better beaches but the town is set quite far off the beach so its a long walk or a taxi ride. There are more videos on my channel about some awesome beaches in between including this one that comes with an on site cenote: ua-cam.com/video/3xTX_FAfUc8/v-deo.html
No they will use filtered water for ice everywhere. As for authentic mexican food, try portales on 6th and 10th or just anywhere that looks run down. El Fogon on 30th and 6th is also a favourite!
My cruise ship is going to be in Cozumel for 9 hours. Do you recommend going to Playa Del Carmen via ferry? We want to to see new things and be in the city center while being close to the beach.
Hey Tom. Have you been to Cozumel before? Is that why you want to pop over to Playa del Carmen? Reason I ask is if you havent checked out Cozumel, then I would say do that first and leave Playa del Carmen for another time. Rent a scooter, zip around the island, and you wont spend about an hour each way going to Playa del Carmen when you consider waiting time, ferry time etc. I just posted a video of my day on Cozumel a couple weeks back. If you know Cozumel well already and want to see somewhere new, then 9 hours will give you time to pop over and visit Playa del Carmen. Walk fifth avenue, relax at the beach, grab some good food.
Hey Will, thanks for the replay! It will actually be my first time in Mexico. A scooter is great idea. I was looking at Playa because Cozumel's beaches and city center seemed seemed far away from each other. We're from Chicago and Playa seems like a more walkable destination. I'll check out that video.
Tom Czech No worries Tom! Youre going to have a terrific time! In that case, I would personally stay on Cozumel and get the scooter. The island is very slow and chill so theres very little risk riding around on a scooter, and yes, the beaches are far from San Miguel the town, but you can zip over the width of the island in 15 minutes, and its absolutely worth it. So cool and secluded back there, and also not having to catch a ferry and come back to the cruise port, you will be way more relaxed on time. Definitely recommend Cozumel and the scooter!
Hey man, thank you! There are a few cenotes with jumps. The little video box of my friend jumping in was Xunan Ha cenote in Chemuyil, between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. I have a video on my channel on that one, also, Cristalino Cenote has a little jump, and Garden of Eden Cenote as well. All of those are in videos on my channel if you want to check them out, see which is best. Thanks for the support mate!
Make sure to check out the other Top 5 Things To Do videos on this channel as well as my time in Playa del Carmen and on the Riviera Maya. Thanks for the support!
Will lees- I'm staying in dt playa, close to the Walmart actually. I like to walk, are there any areas I need to avoid in terms of dafter and safety at night ? I want to explore city other then fifth avenue.
Hi Gilbert! Great area. No, honestly, not really. It is all quite safe, even at night. I would advise be careful crossing the highway as there are no real crosswalks and people come flying off the freeway and running red lights so just be careful there. Other than that, you should have no problems!!!
Will. I'm going solo. Im looking for an authentic Mexican experience. I ate at el fogon last year and loved it. Any recommendations on authentic cheap restaurants and or fresh fruit stands ? How about best day trip out o playa ? Isla mujeres or Valladolid or Merida ? Other then xpu ha. Any other great swimming beaches ? I don't want to go to Cozumel
Fresh fruit is pretty easy to find. Near Juarez and 15th street, is the little plaza with a ton of delicious taco stands, and fresh fruit stands. You could eat something new there every meal! Best day trip outside of Playa, WITHOUT A DOUBT is Isla Mujeres. Absolutely love that place. Rent a scooter for 20 dollars and discover the island. The best beach around is there too, called North Beach.
Hey Cole - Internet speeds in Playa del Carmen are decent, I dont know the numbers to be honest but the reliability is shocking. I lived in Playa del Carmen for 3 years and various technician visits, new modems, etc etc. and my internet would still always drop, at least for 5 minutes every hour or so, or sometimes for an hour for no reason. Unfortunately in Mexico if something works 50% of the time, they think it still works. Also, at least in Playa del Carmen, I dont know about other places in Mexico, but there is a monopoly so you cant really change companies. Its a joke.
Hi Will THX for your great Videos. We are big México Fans. We stay there in July 15 and had our marriage there. Now we will use the colectivos. Have you got a Video or tips for using? Greets from Germany
Thanks for the thanks! I appreciate it. Yes, I actually have a video on the collectivos! Surprisingly efficient, cheap and easy way to get up and down the Mayan Riviera from Cancun, to Playa del Carmen and down to Tulum! Collectivos Playa del Carmen video: ua-cam.com/video/9liR9eqklzs/v-deo.html
You are very welcome!!! Enjoy your stay in Playa del Carmen. If you have any questions about the collectivos or how to get around the Mayan Riviera, comment on the Collectivos video and I will respond!
Great vid! I'll be traveling to cancun in july and was wondering how is it possible to enjoy the local foods if the water can cause slight sickness? Im staying at Hard Rock but im one to like to see the towns. I really want to see the cenotes but ill be traveling with someone who doesn't swim and refuse to get in water she cant stand in smh
Yes i ate out at taco stands, little hole in the wall places and 99% of the time had absolutely no issue. Go to the cenotes by yourself, dont let your friends fear of water deduct from your vacation. The cenotes are beautiful enough that you do not need to swim if you dont want to.
Awesome thanks alot! I'll be going to the cenotes for sure! Definitely plan to see cozumel also but the bombing on the ferry really caught my attention. I hope they've caught who did that so people can travel between the two safely. Definitely subscribing to your channel!👍
Thanks "End of Fate" appreciate the comment and like! If you are at a resort that is on the beach in Playa del Carmen, you can often walk the coastline into the town of Playa del Carmen. Some of the resorts have security guards that ensure you do not enter their resort but you are free to walk on the beach. The town of Playa del Carmen is on the beach with a lot of easy access to get to the water and walk up and down the coast. Are you planning on visiting Playa del Carmen?
Yes. Definitely. A lot of places rent scooters in Playa del Carmen. Best would be to walk down 10th avenue. This street runs parallel with 5th avenue, the main street with all the shopping in Playa del Carmen, just one block away from the beach. You can walk down there and see car rental signs and most of those places will rent scooters, or you will just see places with scooters outside or signs. Going around Playa del Carmen on a scooter isnt that great, but I would recommend getting outside of Playa del Carmen and going up to Isla Mujeres, off Cancun and renting a scooter there. I have a couple videos on this channel about Isla Mujeres. Best place on the Riviera Maya no doubt!
Appreciate the kind words! December is definitely one of the busier months but the weather is also usually the best around then. Hot and sunny, but with a breeze!
No worries Elena! What do you like to do? Some people just come to party, some just hang out at a resort, some like to get out and explore, some balance seeing the surrounding areas around Playa del Carmen and relaxing, totally depends on what youre into! Let me know!
Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle I want to try to do as many adventurous things as possible, like zip lining, horseback riding, jet ski, hiking and definitely have to check out the cenotes and xplor. I am also interested in checking out some local restaurants and private beaches if you know of any good ones!
Awesome! A lot of that of course will be done in all the surrounding areas around Playa del Carmen itself. For hiking, there isnt any unless its just on the flat jungle because there is no elevation here. Highest point on this part of Mexico is probably the summit of Chichen Itza, which is something you might want to have on your list. Very impressive. Like I mentioned, if you want Adventurous things go to Xplor Adventure Park. Zip lines, underground river systems, drive buggies through the jungle, everything. Foods included and delicious as well! You can also go at night called Xplor Fuego where everything is lit up by fire and its a little cheaper. There are a number of cenotes and beaches on my channel. I would suggest checking out the videos for Cristalino Cenote, Casa Cenote, also Xcacel Beach, Xpu Ha and Akumal, all around the Playa del Carmen area, also, all on my channel. A definite must see day trip, Isla Mujeres for sure. Incredible little island of Cancun. Absolute paradise. Worth even staying a night or two. Hope that helps.
Hey Will! I will be staying at the Gran Porto Resort in the summer and looking into booking a excursion with Xplor Facilities. They have some really cool activities you could partake in. Do you have any input regarding the resort and the Xplor Facilities site to purchase my ticket?
Hey - I have only been to Gran Porto to see a friend. Its location is good, right in the center of Playa del Carmen so you are a 30 second walk from Fifth Avenue and the beach. It is not a very big resort, with a lot of area, more like a hotel but the other big resorts are outside of Playa del Carmen so it is a bit of a trade of. Depends what you want. I have never had the food at Gran Porto so I am not sure of the quality. Xplor is definitely worth it. Good fun. They have Xplor Fuego at night which is cheaper. I think if you book it online, or call them you receive a bit of a discount, maybe 15%. They have a website to check out.
Thanks! I am definitely going to book the Xplor but most likely the day one. They do have online discounts and I chatted with a representative who gave me a lot of input about the park. Can you recommend some larger resorts that will be a good day pass?
Well yes but I was wondering about like bottled water. It sounds odd but I’m very sensitive with my water... also, are there good cliff jumping spots my brother loves cliff diving, thanks
Bottled water there is fine. Definitely dont drink from the tap, but Cristal or Penafiel are golden. You will have no problems. As far as cliff jumping spots, you will want to go to some of the cenotes. I have a video on my channel of a few but those are the only real places to cliff jump because the Yucatan is so flat. Ik Kil cenote has a big jump.
Hello! Im going to be in Playa del carmen from 07. August - 18. August, how is the weather there in middle of August? Thanks for your help! :) Greetings from Austria 🇦🇹
Hi Mo! It is very humid from those dates but you are almost guaranteed some sunny days and if it does rain it is usually not for long as the heat burns through it but prepare to sweat!
Hi Will, We're staying downtown Playa del Carmen this coming spring break. Is there a specific resort or two you'd recommend for a day pass? There are so many...we are husband and wife with two boys, 10 and 12 years old. Any resort seem like a great choice for family with tweens? Loved your video.
Appreciate it Lex! For a daypass in Playa del Carmen, I would go just outside of the town itself, as the resorts get a little bigger, more things to choose from and places to explore. A few good ones would be PALLADIUM, or GRAND SIRENIS. North of Playa del Carmen, VALENTIN RESORT, BLUE BAY, or AZUL FIVES which has some quality restaurants including a Thai restaurant and sushi restaurant, but the beach is a bit small. If you want to stay in the town of Playa del Carmen itself, the only real "resort" in the town is THE ROYAL. They all have beach and pools to relax and also places for kids to blow off some steam and relax themselves.
Hi Mario - Dont know much about the schools in Playa del Carmen unfortunately. I know there are a few, and there is one that a lot of foreigners take their kids too, maybe a private school, but the names or the curriculum, Im not sure, sorry.
hi...I will be going to PDC march 18 to 27, (in about 2 more weeks) my question is ...do you know if there's a chance to get arond native ppl??, I wanna enjoy pdc but don't want to be around tourist all the time..please don't get me wrong..
Hey Enrique - Good and bad thing about Playa del Carmen is that it attracts everyone. That means a LOT of tourists, however, a lot of local people from the Yucatan also frequent Playa del Carmen for the opportunity to work, and for vacation as well. Best way would honestly be to get out of the town and visit the smaller towns like Valladolid even across the peninsula to Merida. No one is really actually FROM Playa del Carmen because its so new, people just tend to go there, so unfortunately its completely integrated with locals, ex pats and vacationers.
No problem Enrique - Chichen Itza is great. Very cool and you can just rent a car and drive from Playa del Carmen there on your own. Personally I think its much better than a tour. I lived in Playa del Carmen for 3 years.
Havent done it - Not really a "show" person, I heard its pretty cool but I wanted to personally recommend the things to do in Playa del Carmen that I have done. Thats why I put Xplor instead.
I'm taking my 15 year old she would love that place. also I'm taking my 2 year old. you suggest to take the baby or should I stay at the hotel. I would love you to go and see this beautiful place 😅😅😅
Hi Fany. You are taking your 15 year old to Playa del Carmen? You can take the child anywhere around Playa del Carmen, you do not have to stay at the hotel by any means. When you talk about "this beautiful place" do you mean Playa del Carmen in general or a specific thing you saw in this video?
To Xplor Park? I would not take the baby. Its an extreme park with lots of water, some water falls, ziplines etc. I am not even sure they would allow you to take in children under a certain age, let alone a baby. Some resorts have nanny services where you can pay them and they are trained and will take care of your child, which would be worth it because Xplor is definitely one of the coolest things to do in Playa del Carmen.
Not a problem Fany! Enjoy Playa del Carmen and all the things to do, and if you have more questions, let me know! I am happy to help. Also, stay tuned, a ton of more videos to come in the upcoming months. Just got to edit them and post them.
I miss this place so much!! We went a few years ago and actually just made a video today to reminisce. ua-cam.com/video/yfS2ou_VeuM/v-deo.html I am so ready to go back. :)
Hello! I'm traveling to Playa in a couple months for 8 days! I want to explore and scuba dive. Any recommendations on where to scuba dive. I know Cozumel is great for diving. Also, which cenotes would you reccomend visiting the most?
Yes Cozumel is probably the best area for scuba near playa del carmen, or you can head up to Isla Mujeres off Cancun. They have some cool under water statues!
Yes its very safe. There have been a few incidents in Playa del Carmen recently but that is unusual. Its widely regarded as the safest place in Mexico. Enjoy your stay in Playa del Carmen! Make sure to get out and do some of the things in this video. You wont regret it.
No problem at all Steve! If you have any more questions about Playa del Carmen before you go, feel free to comment on any video and it should notify me and I can answer them. Take care!!!
Definitely something very touristy to do in the night in Playa del Carmen. Not really my thing though. Its exciting, a good show, a big overpriced, and the alcohol is of such low quality, if you have a couple bevvies, you will be goosed the next day! You will get hounded on the street to do it, so I didnt put it in the list but go watch the videos and things they do outside of Coco Bongo on 10th avenue in the center of Playa, might be your thing! You heading there soon???
Hello cool video! quick question...me and my girlfriend are going to Playa de Carmon...we are staying at the blue bay grand ezmerelda. we are from a crappy little town in Canada and don't have a tun of street smarts. is this a safe place to go where you know....you won't get murdered or beat up or anything like that?
Haha There is no such thing as a crappy town in Canada! Yeah, you will be fine. I lived in Playa del Carmen for 3 years and had no real problems, other than the guy hitting me with a stick at Xpu Ha beach south of Playa del Carmen. Dont know if you saw that video about that coward but its the safest place in Mexico, and as long as you have fun within the loose parameters of the law, you will have absolutely no problems. Tons of tourists in Playa del Carmen. Let me know if you need anymore advice or specifics!
Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle you were right it's pretty low key. The people are really pushy to go talk to them and i understand why. We just ventured down 5th ave and that's it though lol.
Yah I think Playa del Carmen has burst its own bubble to a certain extent ... it is becoming all the things people didnt like about the hotel zone of Cancun. Glad you had a good time though!
Gracias Mr. Will. Im from Central Mexico and leaving for Playa in two weeks. Thanks for the advice. Just please pronounce the Spanish words correctly jk thnx
Please..Dont ride scooters, skateboards, bicycles on 5th ave due is an exclusive for pedestrians..and if you do so you will fined..be aware and respect.
Yes. I never said to cycle down 5th avenue but if you are staying in Playacar, to cycle to 5th avenue as it can be a long walk. Yes, dont cycle down 5th avenue.
Good info For tve World
Thanks man!
So many cool things to do here in Playa del Carmen.... 3 years here in Playa and haven't been bored once.
Ya, lot of cenotes, parks, beaches and things to do in Playa del Carmen. Pretty excited to move onto some more adventures though!!!
And don’t forget to do the snorkeling tour Cozumel offers it’s the best, those reefs r amazing!!!
Right! Good point Jose. Cozumel in general is just great fun. Isla Mujeres though .. that is my favourite place on the RM!
I went to playa del carman and had an amazing time. Conote dos ojos is beautiful. Now that my only vaca spot and little do ppl believe the hotels are cheap as 23 dollars a night / 127 for a amazing week plus your flight and food = vacation in Mexico every year.
Yes, there are some great places and fun things to do in Playa del Carmen. So much competition so the cost can be reasonable as well.
shawnette lubin how much money would i need for a week at playa del carmen?
Will !! It’s Gord !!
Gordo! How are you pal? Been ages!
What were the beaches you mentioned?
Xpu Ha and Xcacel. I have videos on them on this channel..
Thanks, Ill be in Playa del Carmen in Oct.. Ill deff do some of these things..
Great man! October in Playa del Carmen is a good time as long as its close to the end. It can rain in the afternoons so get things done in the Morning! When the weather is good there are so many things to do. Enjoy!
best description I have found for things to do in this place, good job, just subscribed.
Thank you! Appreciate it! Playa del Carmen has a lot of things to do and thought I would share.
Great video bro
Good idea re getting a day pass if you are not at a resort. I think it is a good way to find out which place you would like to stay for a week.
Totally. Even if you are not an "all inclusive" type person it is still fun to do for a day no doubt!
I was born here it is my life I live in texas now this vid is super cool thx for making this
Nice! Thanks to you, hope you get to return to enjoy Playa del Carmen again :)
@@willlees287 hey thanks brother, you are great guy, appreciate your response and maybe we will meet down in Mexico some day. Until then.. :)
Huge help! Thank you for the video. Leaving in 43 days for Riu Palace there.
Thanks man! Enjoy Playa del Carmen!
Good information for the different places to visit. Will the Colectivos Bus take me to all these different destinations or should I rent a car ?
They take you up and down the main highway but they dont go anywhere other than that. Depends how deep off the main highway you want to go?
@@willlees287 - thanks
Merci. Grâce à vous, j'irai voir les cenotes. Et pour les restaurants ? J'aime la gastronomie.
There are a ton of restaurants along 5th avenue from seafood, to mexican, argentinian, a great brazilian buffet in the center of Playa del Carmen called Bovinos.
You missed the park XCARET...the show they have there at Xcaret Park is a MUST SEE!!!
No I did not miss Xcaret ... I decided not to put it in my top 5
Certainly the best things to do on a holiday. Good advice. We lived in Playa for a month but took a leisurely pace,
Thank you! Yeah I liked to do one of these things to do every weekend or so but life on the Caribbean is best enjoyed at a slow pace.
Randy Magnusen Sounds great. Know a lot of realtors in Playa del Carmen so if you decide to buy, let me know! Enjoy yourself.
Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle Thank you. Is there a way I can contact you for further questions or information? Are you on Facebook?
***** No problem! You can shoot me any comments/questions in the comments section like here, on any video as it will notify me directly as soon as its posted. Also, other people can browse the questions in the comments about Playa del Carmen and get answers too!
Thanks very much will !
No worries! Wishing you all the best!
great tips. thank you!
Thank you Paolo! Glad you enjoyed top 5 things to do in playa del carmen.
super gefällt mir sehr gut super
Sounds like fun
It is great fun Paul. Are you planning to head down to Playa del Carmen?
Hi Tracy. Thanks for the kind words. April is usually around the best time. Clear skies, very little to no rain and the humidity is minimal.
Sounds perfect especially when sightseeing 😃
Tracy Marshall how was playa del carmen , me and my family r going next month . Any advice please
ricky faralla Hi Ricky, I don’t know asI haven’t been yet, I go next April so you will be able to give me some advice !1
Merci American Boy pour votre explication ( Brigitte Trappes France,)
bonjour brigitte. merci, mais je ne suis certainement pas américain. Je suis Canadien.
Thanks so much for the info I will def. check it all out once I'm out there.
Very informative, although I would have preferred additional scenes of Cozumel.
You can click on the picture of Cozumel and it will take you to the video on Cozumel.
super gefällt mir sehr gut
Danke!
Danke
we love fishing is there any place close to playa car palace resort for fishing
Hey Heather! Best fishing is done pretty far off the coast but there are a lot of tour operators in town that offer sport fishing tours with everything ... including beer ... taken care of. I would suggest asking on 5th avenue to a tour operator and they will have contact info!
Loved the video! Heading out there in August. We will be cave diving so who do you recommend?
Will be warm in August!
what video, its just a guy talking. no video
🙌🙌🙌🙌
Thanks for the Info and Thank You for Sharing Will! Really want to come to Playa del Carmen! Thanks Again!!
No problem, Ive been down with the Chikingunya Virus so that is something NOT to do in Playa del Carmen haha. Problem with the Caribbean and mosquitos but I had this video to put up for those coming down to the Playa del Carmen area!
May you heal soon Will! Thanks for that info too!!
Thanks buddy!
You need to make it down, Eric - Playa is truly one of the most unique and amazing places there are. And it's a very short trip from the US and Canada.
Agreed!
what things can i bring for locals from canada ,,we want to go on a tour to check out mexico i like bringing gifts but never know really what they would like me to bring them
Anything sport related.

Hi, what attractions you recommend for 2 years old kid in Playa del Carmen?
Probably Xel Ha. Not sure really, everything with a 2 year old you will need adult supervision so probably one of the parks. Xel Ha or Xcaret.
I want to stay in a resort that’s located there but do you still fly into Cancun and if so how far away is it??
45 minute drive from Cancun international airport
Food recommendations??? And also, do you think we should go down to Tulum for better beaches??
I am looking for the BEST TACOS and just truly authentic Mexican food. Also, is there an issue with drinks that contain ice?
No they will use filtered water for ice everywhere. As for authentic mexican food, try portales on 6th and 10th or just anywhere that looks run down. El Fogon on 30th and 6th is also a favourite!
Hi, Good Vid, thanks! Can you buy no contract sim cards for internet/phone access ? If so what the best option.
Yes. Telcel.
Nice vid....Where is the platform jump in playa del Carmen? Do you know?
Hey man, thank you! There are a few cenotes with jumps. The little video box of my friend jumping in was Xunan Ha cenote in Chemuyil, between Playa del Carmen and Tulum. I have a video on my channel on that one, also, Cristalino Cenote has a little jump, and Garden of Eden Cenote as well. All of those are in videos on my channel if you want to check them out, see which is best. Thanks for the support mate!
+Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle cool thanks
No worries bud, enjoy!!
Also, since then I have been to one with a great jump at Cenote Cristal. I have a video on my channel of that.
Make sure to check out the other Top 5 Things To Do videos on this channel as well as my time in Playa del Carmen and on the Riviera Maya. Thanks for the support!
Video very similar to this Top 5 Things To Do in Playa del Carmen will be upcoming for Cancun - Stay posted and SUBSCRIBE!
Hey Looking to move to PDC just wondering how is the internet speeds and reliability?
Hey Cole - Internet speeds in Playa del Carmen are decent, I dont know the numbers to be honest but the reliability is shocking. I lived in Playa del Carmen for 3 years and various technician visits, new modems, etc etc. and my internet would still always drop, at least for 5 minutes every hour or so, or sometimes for an hour for no reason. Unfortunately in Mexico if something works 50% of the time, they think it still works. Also, at least in Playa del Carmen, I dont know about other places in Mexico, but there is a monopoly so you cant really change companies. Its a joke.
How much is it to go to explor adventure park?
Hi Xavier. Here is the website: www.xplor.travel/es/?langRedirect=1
Thanks what about x-caret?
www.xcaret.com.mx/
Thank you 😀
You are very welcome!!!
I would go to Isla Mujeres anyways. 100 x better than Cozumel!
Great vid! Im wondering ,to simply go walk on the beach in Playa del carmen, you need a day pass to get further from your resort?? thanks
Ok thanks! Yes ill be at the coco reef on april first.
Awesome! You will have a blast. Enjoy Playa del Carmen and all the things to do. Take care!
Thanks, do you know if its possible to rent scouters in PDC?
Yes.
Hi I’m going in December. How’s the weather during that time and the tourist flow? THANKS your video was super helpful.
Appreciate the kind words! December is definitely one of the busier months but the weather is also usually the best around then. Hot and sunny, but with a breeze!
Thanks for the video! :)
Question: If you only had one week vacation in Playa del Carmen what would your itinerary look like?
+Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle Thank you so much for your advice! 👍😃
No problem! Thanks for the comment and support. Enjoy your time in Playa del Carmen!
Good resorts close to Playa del Carmen for a day pass:
-Palladium
-Grand Sirenis
-Azul Fives
-Valentin
Thank you so much! I will be checking out some more of your videos! :-)
No worries at all. I like to answer comments and help people out. Ensure your stay in Playa del Carmen is great. Is it your first time there?
I am going here for spring break. I am going to Mahekal. How is the water in Mexico. City water gives me terrible headaches so I am a little nervous
To drink? Definitely do not drink the water in Playa del Carmen, or anywhere in Mexico really.
Ihave 2 kids; If I move to Playa del Carmen, Do you know If the Schools there has valid that study in USA?
Hi Mario - Dont know much about the schools in Playa del Carmen unfortunately. I know there are a few, and there is one that a lot of foreigners take their kids too, maybe a private school, but the names or the curriculum, Im not sure, sorry.
Mario Alvarado hi! We have a house here and when I was younger I checked out this pretty nice school next to the track feikd
hi...I will be going to PDC march 18 to 27, (in about 2 more weeks) my question is ...do you know if there's a chance to get arond native ppl??, I wanna enjoy pdc but don't want to be around tourist all the time..please don't get me wrong..
Thank you very much my brother...Chichen Itza is my priority...do you live in PDC ?
No problem Enrique - Chichen Itza is great. Very cool and you can just rent a car and drive from Playa del Carmen there on your own. Personally I think its much better than a tour. I lived in Playa del Carmen for 3 years.
Sorry, UA-cam did not notify me about this response! I used to live in Playa del Carmen, 3 years actually! Almost to the day! It was a fun ride.
Enrique 'far' Martinez
Hey you forgot Xcaret at night show
Havent done it - Not really a "show" person, I heard its pretty cool but I wanted to personally recommend the things to do in Playa del Carmen that I have done.
Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle I meant to xplor park! should I take the baby or stay at the resort?
To Xplor Park? I would not take the baby. Its an extreme park with lots of water, some water falls, ziplines etc. I am not even sure they would allow you to take in children under a certain age, let alone a baby. Some resorts have nanny services where you can pay them and they are trained and will take care of your child, which would be worth it because Xplor is definitely one of the coolest things to do in Playa del Carmen.
Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle thank you very much! be safe and keep uploading this wonderful videos!
They have some cool under water statues!
hi ! im going there in march . it is a safe place ? thanks for the video :)
Yes its very safe. There have been a few incidents in Playa del Carmen recently but that is unusual. Its widely regarded as the safest place in Mexico. Enjoy your stay in Playa del Carmen! Make sure to get out and do some of the things in this video. You wont regret it.
Perfect !Thank you for taking the time to reply me i appreciate.
No problem at all Steve! If you have any more questions about Playa del Carmen before you go, feel free to comment on any video and it should notify me and I can answer them. Take care!!!
Wow! Thank you for offering your support. If I have another question I will come to you. I wish you the best, life is beautiful

My Playa del Carmen Video :) ua-cam.com/video/EC96hHpkW_Q/v-deo.html
coco bongo?
Definitely something very touristy to do in the night in Playa del Carmen. Not really my thing though. Its exciting, a good show, a big overpriced, and the alcohol is of such low quality, if you have a couple bevvies, you will be goosed the next day! You will get hounded on the street to do it, so I didnt put it in the list but go watch the videos and things they do outside of Coco Bongo on 10th avenue in the center of Playa, might be your thing! You heading there soon???
Top 5 things to do in Playa Del Carmen... Everything recommended is out of Playa Del Carmen???
Basically yes, or in the surrounding area around Playa del Carmen. I have videos on Cancun and Tulum as well.
Enjoy Playa del Carmen.
Will Lees - No Regrets Lifestyle - liked your Videos..Very helpful
Glad to hear it Francisco! Thank you. Tengas un buen fin!
