After Jeff's set was complete, Oasis played on the same stage, immediately following his performance. Noel doesn’t have a fraction of the talent Jeff Buckley had.
You clearly don't understand Oasis' historical importance in British music. Jeff Buckley was a beautiful singer and a good lyricist but his output simply can't touch Oasis' and Noel's solo material.
@@HEAVYDIAPER Well considering he tragically died after his very first album it’s hardly surprising is it. And I totally respect Oasis’ place in rock history, but being fair, Noel Gallagher was and is an incredibly limited songwriter and guitarist who plagiarised many classic rock bands, and in Oasis wrote mainly four chord pub rock tunes for football fans.
@dbg32 Noel never hid away from taking this and that from great rock songs then doing his own spin on them. And yes, Noel knows what he can do and what he can't. Noel isn't a reinvent the wheel type of songwriter that's Radiohead's and Tom Waits' arena. Noel makes catchy and uplifting music.
@@HEAVYDIAPER hold on, nobody is talking about how important that little band called Oasis was. Noel can BARELY sing, Jeff Buckley would school him ANY GIVEN DAY. If you have ever touched an instrument, or if you sang before, you would clearly understand what we are talking about here. You may "LOVE" Oasis, that band that made a couple of hits with 4 chords that my 2 yo daughter can play, and I respect that. Noel is just ignorant, limited and jealous, there's nothing else to argue here.
@filipepaivazoega3669 @filipepaivazoega3669 A couple of hits? They have 8 number one singles and 7 number one albums. They have about 55 perfect songs. I love it when people say that Oasis' songs have 3 to 4 chords on the tunes. Meanwhile, they used those 4 chords to become one of the most iconic and wildly successful English bands ever. That's why people like Bono, George Martin (Beatles), and Dave Grohl have sung their praises for years. Your daughter is smart enough to play Wonderwall but can she or you or any of your friends or any one of your relatives or local bands have the talent to sell out Knebworth Park 2 years into their career?
Jeff Buckley is fine. I like him. I don't believe he is as good as everyone says he is, but I do believe he is a beautiful singer.
I'm sorry your garage band didn't have the songs to make it, but Oasis did and has a wonderful legacy. A legacy full of kissed opportunities and drama, but it's an incredible one.
I hope your daughter learns to shred on the guitar like St. Vincent or Dee Dee Dum. I look forward to her debut album going straight to number one, becoming the best-selling debut album of its era, defining a generation, and reviving guitar music in her country. If it's as simple as you claim, she should have no problem accomplishing one of those achievements I've mentioned with only 4 chords of course ;]
Jealousy is the word that comes to mind here.
Or maybe he just doesn't like Jeff.
Defo jealous ..
@@BAztid Welll, maybe if Noel actually gave enough of a shit to pay the slightest bit of attention to his music instead of immediately dismissing him for no reason...
As much as I love Oasis Jeff was on a league of his own
Oasis are lightyears ahead of Buckley. Jeff doesn't have a Live Forever or a Stop Crying Your Heart Out in his bag.
@@HEAVYDIAPER basic fucking tunes man, lover you should’ve come over shits over the pair of them.
@@HEAVYDIAPER No. He had so much more.
@fraserdavidson4226 Naw, he didn't. He had one good album with some good songs. Oasis have several classics under their belts.
@@HEAVYDIAPER probably because he died at 30 mate 👍
Come on Noelle. Give credit where it is due. Jeff Buckley was incredible.
Even Leonard Cohen himself said in an interview once that Jeff Buckley's redition of 'Hallelujah' surpassed his own!
@Phoenix Green I’ve heard this, but do you have a source?
@@MojoPin1983 Hey Mojo! Sorry for the late reply - internet issues.
So.... I heard a Tribute podcast not long after Leonard Cohen passed full of short snippets of interviews interspersed with songs and their back-stories, etc, which was aired on Australia's National Broadcast radio ABC FM - the late night/morning show. The host is a huge music buff and collector and has some really interesting and little known stuff on at times. Very reliable info. (I tried to find it online but guess it was too long ago.) All I can remember is Leonard talking about how he'd dropped 'Hallelujah' from his repertoire and almost forgotten about it until John Cale tried to resurrect it... which I hadn't heard until then... then his delight at Jeff's version, taking it to stellar heights.
I'd never heard of there being any question over this until now. I just remember that interview because I played both Jeff and Tim Buckley's music daily!
I've since read that Leonard praised many artists who recorded his music, so whether Jeff remained his favourite after many years later and the countless versions to come, who knows. But I believe at the time of that interview he was most sincere.
Hope this is of help.
(PS Love your channel!)
@@phoenixgreen9047 Thanks for that info.
This sums up Noel, he doesn’t open his ears to anything different, hence his songwriting has followed the same ‘meat & potato’ path for years.
He does actually listen to a lot of obscure artists and borrows from them lol
@@adamwilliams5089the point still stands though that he is massively ignorant at times and regardless of whether an artist is adored and critically acclaimed, if he doesn’t like them he refuses to see any merit in them. Him saying System of a down are the worst band of all time is a good example of this.
Why would he open his ears to Buckley.... He was fucking shiteeeeeeee
@@ck1643 And what artists do you regularly listen to? I’m intrigued…
@@youngdylan5083 artists who write ALL their own material.... Along with artists who who put out albums with no cover versions on them
This is quite hilarious. As soon as the interviewer heard Noel say he was interested in Jeff, he then knew he clearly knows little about him. It's actually quite embarrassing. Shutting down someone who has soooo much talent, I'm not saying Noel isn't talented in his own way, but for a musician to shut Jeff Buckley out like that only highlights the Noel Gallagher critics - particularly the ones who are musicians. Maybe Noel just isn't that good. Grace is just phenomenal and Tim Buckley was also beyond his time. 'once I was'
People have different opinions man, get over it
@@harrylaingross5983 I don't think that's really what this is about. It's fine to have an opinion or not like something, but to outright dismiss it for no reason and give it no chance to impress you is just arrogance on Noel's part.
Jeff wipes the floor with Noel
🤣
Noel Gallagher's discography DESTROYS Jeff Buckley's.
@@HEAVYDIAPER Jeff died young ya mad men ,of course Noel as Got better discography ,Jeff 30 , Noel 55
@@HEAVYDIAPER But on saying that ,Grace is better then any album Noel as done by miles
Oasis is shit, Buckley has more talent in his pinky finger then the entire band.. what a joke comparison.
'Grace' is a stunning album, musically diverse, memorable songs, an artistic triumph. I imagine Noel dislikes the hype around Jeff and thinks - 1 album? Well......thats not greatness. If he hasnt, of course he should give it a go. Its a brilliant record.
Grace is good, but Jeff Buckley was best observed in a live environment. There are other albums like Grace, there are no other albums like Live at Sin-e.
I saw Jeff Buckley live. He was brilliant and had an amazing voice. I was pretty gutted when he died.
Gotta disagree cause he considers the sex pistols 1 studio album to be greatness
@@darrenstopper1806 well yes there is always a potential exception to the rule. Give me 'Grace' over the Pistols album any day...
Interviewer: “Well he was good”
Noel: “But he wasn’t”
How can you say something so ignorant???? Oasis isn’t even in the same universe as Jeff.
Simply just a Baffoon who’s jealous. Oasis sucks my ass.
Says the guy who is still pretending like he hasn't been ripping of The Beatles and Marc Bolan for over 30 years. Should be ashamed of himself.
Thom Yorke cried and was moved when he saw Jeff Buckley performed and it influenced him as a singer. Noel Gallagher cracks joke about Jeff. The Gallagher brother will never advance beyond their younger years. I love Oasis but even I have to say "Hold up, now. waitaminute. Let's roll back."
@Metamorpheus “A SHAMELESS RIP-OFF OF JEFF BUCKLEY AND THE COCTEAU TWINS.”
Thom: “Wow! No, but Jeff Buckley gave me confidence to sing in falsetto. And the Cocteaus are cool.”
Colin: “When we were recording ‘Fake Plastic Trees,’ we went to see Jeff Buckley play at The Garage. He just had a Telecaster and a pint of Guinness and it was just fu…. amazing. Then we went back to the studio and tried an acoustic version of ‘Fake Plastic Trees.’ Thom sat down and played it in three takes, then burst into tears afterwards. And that’s what we used for the record.”
- Thom Yorke - Singer and guitarist from Radiohead
- Jonny Greenwood - Guitarist from Radiohead, from the September 1997 issue of VOX
The fact is. Noel could only dream of having the talent contained in just one of Jeff’s fingers. What a pillock Noel is, a disrespectful oaf that most definitely rose to fame by standing on the shoulders of the giants before him. I’m only surprised that people give him the press time these days
Hendrix's version of All along the watchtower
Mad seasons version of John Lennon's .I don't want to be a soldier.
Tbh I prefer Dylan’s, but a close one for sure.
Noel being Noel I'm sure he knows just how good Jeff was!!!
@Cris Borgnine Unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the case, here. Noel isn't afraid to compliment artists that he likes (he even praised Tim Buckley, in this clip). I think he is just generally ignorant of Jeff's objective musical prowess. I wonder how much of Jeff's music Noel is familiar with.
@@Jason787 Yeah, there is nothing wrong with disliking Jeff's or anyone's music, it's especially annoying when fanbases are dumbfounded when someone doesn't share the same love for their favourite band/artist. That said not recognising Jeff's talent is a whole other thing.
@@MojoPin1983 Yeah I appreciate his opinion of Jeff... He isn't everyones favorite, and I get that.. We are all different
I really like Jeff Buckley, but he is seriously overrated, he wrotte 4 or 5 excellent songs and had an amazing voice... buts thats very little compared to many many other artists that at age 28 had docens of great songs under their belt
@@MojoPin1983 there’s no way Noel is in the business for over 30 years and still ignorant of Jeff’s musical prowess. He just doesn’t like him, which surprised me.
Jealous much! Lol We love you Jeff!
Preach it!
Jealous?
I doubt it.
Noel has had a much bigger better successful career and has written much better songs then Mr Buckley.
I just think that sort of slow depressing music is not Noel's cup of tea.
@@NeilLewis77 yeah pretty much this, can't deny that the Gallaghers are assholes tho
Envidioso no soporto que jeff era de un talento unico
He can’t even think of ONE cover that is better than the original?!
What a fuckin dope lol I can’t believe you can be a somewhat successful musician and also have that opinion tbh
Paul McCartney was a huge fan. Saw some cool pictures of McCartney meeting him backstage after seeing his show in 1995. Oasis is the blandest 90s elevator music ever made. No wonder you never hear of them now
Noel is one of the most unintelligent people I've ever heard or seen in my life
Em, Liam makes Noel look like a genius in comparison...
JB was superb live. Noel really missed an opportunity to see a great artist. When are they going to make a movie about Jeff Buckley?
@Drew Sale A biopic is set to be released in 2023. In addition to that, Jeff’s mom is currently working on a new documentary, which is tentatively scheduled for release in 2024.
@@MojoPin1983 Great, thanks for letting me know. I remember when JB died and it was quite a blow. It was obvious he was going to make extraordinary music for years.
Si lo hubiera visto en vivo a Jeff mas envidia abria tenido
Not surprised he didn’t like JB at that point in ‘94 - they had Definitely Maybe out and everything was upbeat, positive & they were about to take on the world and party. The last thing he would of been interested in then was a U.S artist singing dark & emotional/depressing tunes etc. However I reckon if he listened to him in later life, in a different frame of mind, he may of liked tracks off that album such as Mojo Pin, Grace & So Real
Love Noel but Jeff is miles clear musically. Not even remotely close.
Jeff the greatest of all time 🎉🎉
In 1997 two things happened: Jeff died of an accidental drowning (non drug or alcohol related) and Britpop died. From then on, Jeff’s music was only beginning to get the attention it deserved, growing exponentially in being revered and exhibiting him as one of the top talents of his generation. Sail on El Jefe!
I disagree with Noel, Jeff did do better than the original, but Leonard Cohen did write the lyrics and melody so credit to him
Ryan Adam's cover of Wonderwall and Noel you heard it yourself and told him afterwards that it was his song from then on. How Ryan did Wonderwall was How Noel wanted it to be
@John Bodine When Noel said that one can’t be the original of a given song, my immediate thought was the Hendrix version of All Along the Watchtower; and virtually every song that Jeff covered. 🙂
Ryan Adam's cover of Wonderwall is pop rubbish. Noel just got sappy. The original is the best
Noel is such a knob. Jeff dwarves him in all aspects of music.
I'm sorry, but no. Oasis dwarfed most artist of the mid to late 90s and are one of the biggest rock bands of all time with some of the most iconic anthems in rock history. You might not like noel or liam or whatever, but you can't say that jeff fucking buckley of all people dwarves noel or oasis in music. Lol
not really
@@bendover7152..... I think he meant it in terms of talent. In which case, Jeff definitely dwarves every member of Oasis.
@@bendover7152 i didn't mean success wise im purely talking in terms of musicality in my opinion Jeff drawves him
@@chilly6470 👍👍 thank you yes thats what i meant
The interview seems to only know one song that Jeff covered, the songs he wrote were amazing.
I'm a fan of oasis, I honestly think I wouldn't have learned the guitar without oasis... But this is ignorance on Noel's part. Buckley was awesome. By all means, say not to my tastes. But don't dismiss another brilliant artist! Come on man! Also, as well as Buckley superior version of hallelujah, Emmylou Harris did the definitive version of Pancho and Lefty... And Towns Van Zandt is my favourite songwriter. 🤷🏼♂️
It's amazing for someone like Noel, that can barely sing, talking like that about Jeff. LOL.
- Jeff Buckley was on another level entirely, like Elisabeth Fraser, Noel has written some excellent songs but really needs to release that amorphous androgynous collab.
Yup. A WHOLE other level Buckley was. Noels success speaks volumes but Buckley as an artist was just... Timeless
Lilac Wine is a belter.
Noel will never say someone is better unless it's him... Jeff Buckley was really great, he didn't need all the applause and recognition from the crowd like Noel does...
Noel being Noel, did you expect something else? Seriously, did you?
Johnny Cash - Hurt.
Jimi Hendrix - All Along the Watchtower.
The Mike Flowers Pop's - Wonderwall.
I do like Jeff but probably prefer Tim musically. I imagine Noel wasn't keen on Jeff at the time as he was sold as a kind of boyband-esqe heartthrob who takes himself incredibly seriously. Jeff did everything he could to try shake all that but it seemed to stick unfortunately (as well as comparisons to Tim)
Since you mention it, Song To The Siren.
Oasis work is good but Jeff's songs are pure art.He was able to capture feelings and transformed them into music.Besides his vocal performance was superb.
Jeff Buckley lacks haters. This is refreshing
He lacks them because he's undeniably gifted. His vocal range is incredible, so was his songwriting and playing.
@@bloomtikbloom9593 Exactly. Like who can hate on him. Amazing singer. Great guitar player (probably one of the most underrated aspects of Jeff) and a very good songwriter. Charming, funny, and handsome to boot. Still discovering more brilliant Jeff tunes as time goes on. He was undeniably an original.
If you have any sense you can recognise how good Jeff Buckley is
If that actually pleases you, then I'm sorry.
I think the Bargain Beatles brothers have head trauma from beating the crap out of each other all those years.
😂
Jeff Buckley is beneath Oasis. He could never have reached the heights they did.
@@HEAVYDIAPER too bad we talking about music, if we talking about numbers Drake is above Oasis
@Christian-sd8gs I'm not saying Oasis is the best-selling band of all time. I'm saying Jeff Buckley made one good album, which people happen to overrated a bit. Oasis has two perfect albums and a bunch of excellent songs after that and an excellent bsides record, which in it of itself, The Masterplan, is superior to Buckley's debut album.
Drake is a fine artist. I like him. But, if you're comparing legacies and historical significance within each artists country? Oasis' legacy outshines his because Drake never revived interest in rap music after a lull period. He wasn't the voice of his generation. What Drake does he does well. I'm happy he stopped the Lil Wayneisms after his first album.
Wow, there's a lot of touchy Buckley fans out there. Once again, I think Buckley has a good voice and nice James Tayloresque songs. But, his fans should calm the fuck down when comparing him to Oasis. He, his music, his stage presence, his vocals, his lyrics, are an ant being put up against a Tyrannosaurus Rex which would be Oasis' music, two god tier vocalists, excellent discography, lyrics, generation defining anthems, and effortlessly cool stage presence.
Noel deja el ego y la soberbia de lado y admiti que Jeff Buckley era bueno.
Cuando muera su ego va ser comido por los gusanos
There was me thinking Noel understood music
I mean forget Hallelujah, try Mojo Pin or Lover, You Should've Come Over... Why refer to a cover? His own songs were absolutely killer. I get that Noel may not have liked him back in the 90's, but Noel's pretty moody and has got some darker tunes, don't tell me he thinks Jeff's tunes are shite...
Why do live performances of Jeff keep on getting removed? Is it his estate or what? Because it looks like the origanl live version of Grace on the BBC that was uploaded was removed and it really pisses me off
@Tom Wood I’m not sure what the explanation is regarding the Grace (BBC Late Show) performance. Most of the Live in Chicago concert was removed more than a year ago, as it appears that Sony wants people to either purchase a physical copy of the officially released DVD, or rent/purchase it he full concert on UA-cam.
Recently, I have been working with a friend to try to AI upscale the aforementioned Grace performance and will try to get it back on UA-cam, sometime in the near future.
Also, expect most of my videos to be temporarily unlisted, soon, as I will be attempting to regain my UA-cam partner status, which I lost a few months ago.
What happened to the video where Jeff's body is found?
@Kurt Cobain You should be able to see it now.

Noel’s ignorance is intentional here, and that’s because I want to be the worst optimistic. That guy’s so off the shelf
some of you all are missing the point he's making in his Noel way. Jeff was talented, had one great album, then died tragically. The album released after he died has a few great tracks but I find it underwhelming. He isn't romanticizing Jeff's work due to his untimely passing. Noel is saying that his father Tim was the great one and jeff didn't get to level his father did. As a fan of both Jeff and Tim I agree tho I wouldn't have worded it quite like this ;)
So his talent never existed before he passed? ..I actually discovered his cover of Hallelujah and fell in love with his talent and music only to discover later that he had died. And yas, he only got to male one studio album which ia unfortunate, but it's good, and it's good because it's good. And it still sounds fresh today.
Jeff literally had one of the best voices ever, and was an insanely ood guitarist. And you know what, Tim doed too, but most didnt ecen know of him or remember him now lilke they do Jeff.

He's a wild successful independent artist whose records sell well and tours the world regularly. Noel's written anthems on top of anthems on top of anthems. Don't get butthurt because a better man doesn't like your artist.
A flea that speaks about a giant
It’s an opinion. It’s fine. However, I have to say that I prefer the Fine Young Cannibals version of Suspicious Minds to the original
Noel who?
Jeff Buckley is a million times the singer and songwriter Noel Gallagher is. I suspect heavy jealousy.
Ok at least he acknowledged Tim Buckley..what another waste ..I do believe was/is a bit of Jealousy on Noel's part..Jefff was massive in Ireland at the time ,and would have played small select gigs, and was getting all the big excexs lauding over him at Sin E ..Noel wanted to be the " Irish" brooding dark talented favourite in Ireland!!!!
I love Noel but this can be traced to a couple of tweets of Liam pracing Jeff Buckley, that's probably it i mean he's that petty sometimes 😂😂
Gallagher is Ezra to Buckley’s Drake.
Fair play to Noel for speaking his mind 🤷♂️ you don’t have to like everyone. Some music we just don’t connect with.
I have to say it’s so disappointing to hear a great talent like Noel slag on great artists. I know it’s his opinion. But Jeff Buckley was so amazing and a beautiful artist. He did the same thing with Michael Hutchence and INXS.

I love Noel but he’s totally wrong. Jeff was like an angel or an alien!
Oasis have the weirdest taste in music. I think they figured themselves too macho to be able to enjoy a singer like Jeff Buckley who wasn't afraid to hit the higher notes.
It is also weird how Noel and Liam both brag that they only like to make happy/positive music - they slag off anyone who sings about loss or sadness or negativity...yet they are the grumpiest and more negative people on the planet! They are famous for complaining about every thing and everyone one.
So weird. I am surprised that he didn't appreciate Jeff Buckley's talent. Tbh I bet he hasn't even heard any of his music yet will say confidently that he wasn't any good.
Not sure about your first point.
Both Liam and Noel have gone for higher notes when they’ve sung in Oasis and since.
Obviously nowhere near as high as Jeff but it’s hardly as if they only grunt in their songs lol.
Can’t speak for them but they probably regard it as pretentious as they’re more bothered about catchy hooks than meandering pieces of music with more complexity.

Most annoying thing is Jeff and Hallelujah. It’s like the only thing he ever sang with alot of the music media.
For me it’s the song I least play on Grace alongside Corpus Christi carol. He also did better covers e.g. his cover of the Smiths I know it’s over.
facts.
A lot of people had only heard Hallelujah in a movie or something like that ,then they says"Oh He just a sad-eyed white boy, only girls like it. " But I love his music so much because it's so unpredictable. They won't understand, they never put those prejudices aside and enjoy that music
All Along the Watchtower is better by Hendrix.
Hahaha t'old Noel...what a knob!
Agree with Noel here and I don't usually. One album and a lot of covers on that one albumn.
@Mark Gillott Each of those covers is astonishing and supersedes their respective originals. Jeff also demonstrated his own excellent songwriting abilities with his originals and co-written songs on Grace, not to mention his unfinished follow up to said album. Perhaps the best showcase of Jeff's unparalleled musical talents can be found on the legacy edition of his album, Live at Sin-é.
@@MojoPin1983 No need to waste your energy on such morons, people like this commenter are the reason why average rip off artists like Oasis became so popular.
I don't think it's dismissive to not be interested in certain artists or band's im not interested in the likes of Arctic monkeys Radiohead or the 1975 I'm not into it so I'm not going to waste my time listening to band's that doesn't do it for me
For noel to think he is on the same plane as jeff lmao. Ignorance at its finest
What a specific type of British man he is. He’s probably still a good man but wow you’d really have to get how he is to not want to kill him.
Flog 🙄
What a joke.
Completely disagree with Noel.
These guys are insuferable

Sorry but Jeff's is the better version
Ryan Adams - Wonderwall was a better song.
Noel is a really good song writer but couldn't touch Jeff in 23 lifetimes.
It’s funny to hear a man with very, very little talent give his negative opinions of one of the greatest musicians of all time. It’s funny AND sad, because I think in his heart he must know the truth. Remember for like 5 minutes in the 90s when everyone was calling Oasis the next Beatles? Now THAT is funny! If only they knew how truly forgettable and straight up boring all of Oasis’s music would be. And don’t try to tell me they had good songs because I’ve heard them all and none of them are memorable whatsoever.
