    Brilliant video. Don't think I've ever seen so many birds in the air comming over guns, and how fast they were. Again some beautiful scenery with spectacular shooting, and food looked amazing to. A perfect day I would say.

    Fantastic shooting and a fantastic shoot. I had the pleasure of shooting there in October and it was truly memorable, we shot the drives shown in this video and the birds were absolutely stunning. An awesome shoot and a fantastic video to showcase it.

    Dave, another superb video on how to shoot high birds. Praise also to your camera person, really brings to life what beautiful country we live in.
    Ps as an aside, I thought I had heard of Plas Dinam, but could not place it. Many years ago in my youth I did a lot of hunting, and remembered it was there I hunted with the David Davis Foxhounds.

      Thanks Ian for the nice comments, that is the hardest part staying on the line - as you know when shooting some of them behind the other guns they are also dropping.
      i would also point out that if you meant Jonathan McGee "he no longer works for me" we have our own dedicated team now just focusing on the shooting sports and its promotion.

    Some of the finest shooting you have displayed, beautiful scenery too! Also hats off for the discussion regarding the benefits Shooting has to the countryside. I believe much of the pressure against Shooting comes from a lack of understanding and unwillingness to comprehend the harmonious relationship between country sports and a sustainable countryside.

    This is a visually gorgeous production; a true pleasure to experience and I thank you for it. I am US shooter and hunter and try to get over to the UK at least once a year for driven pheasant and partridge. In my personal opinion, your videos are some of the best depictions of this wonderful sport. I don’t mean the following as a heavy criticism, but with so many youngsters looking up to you and perhaps taking your lead in how they should prepare and conduct themselves for a driven day, I am curious as to what looks like no ear protection for you on this video. Otherwise, perfection. Thanks again.

    • @DaveCarrieShooting
      @DaveCarrieShooting  6 років тому

      Thanks for your Kind words and criticism Michael, i assure you i always wear hearing protection albeit only the cheap plug-in types "because i tend to lose the expensive ones" , i have viewed again and i see clips with the plugs in quite clearly, sometimes you get an odd foam one fall out amidst drive and i always take them out immediately on finishing a drive to interview or speak on camera, but you are correct we have to careful on giving the right impression for the younger generation.
      your input is most appreciated.

      Thanks for the reply, Mr. Carrie. I thought that might be the case, as it didn't seem consistent with the way you approach the matter, so thank you for that clarification. By the way, I especially enjoyed your videos on the .410 debate. I have a little Asprey .410 SxS with full chokes that I wouldn't think of shooting at game over 25 yards (though I'm nowhere near the shot that you are, sir!). I completely agree with you that the appropriate gun to start a youngster of either gender on is the 28 gauge. Looking forward to the next installment.

    Somewhat saddened to hear Dave seeming so depressed about the future for our sports.
    The antis are few and far between but they shout loud and we do not. We require a merger of all our Country sports organisations into one powerful body. That way we can use the power we actually have. Dave could be its first Chair.

    Is there any chance that one day on a testing high bird shoot like this you could fit a shot-cam, to give a better idea of how you manage to be so successful?

    • @DaveCarrieShooting
      @DaveCarrieShooting  6 років тому

      Hi
      Christopher Hindle
      do not think shot kam is any good on distance, as i have said before every bird is different, split second decisions is the key, i do miss a few - but to a degree am quite consistent on difficult stuff, its hard to put on film or paper what is happening, feeling it is right is the greatest asset.
      thanks for the the nice comments
      DC

    • @christopherhindle1174
      @christopherhindle1174 6 років тому

      Thank you for your reply. I wonder if there is some other means whereby viewers could get a better appreciation of how you are such an incredible shot, also given that your skill makes nonsense of the adage that one should shoot with both eyes open! Maybe a camcorder on your forehead would give a better understanding of your method?

    • @DaveCarrieShooting
      @DaveCarrieShooting  6 років тому +1

      Hi Christopher
      People do note that i seem to accelerate at the last moment, a little split second flick, i suppose this is where instinct kicks in.
      Thanks for your interest and i will keep trying to find the solution to the question

    • @christopherhindle1174
      @christopherhindle1174 6 років тому

      Thank you for taking the trouble to respond. I had noticed the last moment 'flick' forward, whatever the secret, it certainly seems to work for you, and I will keep watching your excellent videos in the hope of improvement, but also to enjoy the British countryside at it's best.

    noticed part way thru ure pair miroku Schnabel forends one becomes a trap forend. also noticed u like the high or parrell trap stocks on ure guns. I find ok but too high a comb for crossers. shoot over the top. just my 4 penny worth after 50 years of shooting.

    • @DaveCarrieShooting
      @DaveCarrieShooting  5 років тому

      yes i sometimes take 3 guns and mostly prefer my trap gun forend, sometimes i will just shoot that as a single.
      you would probably shoot over the top of 25 to 35 crossers but 50 to 70 yard it compensates for shot drop, any way it works for me but i am no coach and everyone is different, thanks for the comment tho Joe it is always nice to compare things
