I love the fact that the boxed model is almost an art form in itself. The good thing with the wooden models is the balance between pre made parts and skill.

Hi Olha, another masterpiece from the expert hands of Pavel, the mere thought of building it sends me into ecstasy, once finished it would be another masterpiece which, placed alongside my San Bartolomé, would give an additional touch of class to the furnishings of my home
This kit looks fantastic. My youngest son has fallen in love with it and is pleading with me to build it with him as I recently built another of pavels kits with his older brother. ❤❤👍

I really think these kits from Pavel Nikitin is some of the best. I have my hart set on the San Bartolome. Unfortunately due the fact that these ships is not available in South Africa, the purchase price and importation cost due to our poor and low currency, is very high.

This kit is for a raffle that takes place on the main page of the channel in the "Community" tab. My kit is in Kyiv and I don't know when I will be able to go to my homeland. I changed my tickets 3 times this year and was never able to travel. This summer Kyiv was under constant attack, I can count on the fingers of one hand how many nights my mother slept in a bed and did not have to run to a bomb shelter in the middle of the night or hide behind 2 walls. Let's see if I can visit her next year...

I want to build the model because I have never built a model with a wooden hull and I want to take on this challenge.

Just looking at the parts, that is an awesome kit. Before I put my foot in it, what has Kroum to say about it. Santa Maria sank of Haiti I believe and has not been found, so I'm thinking Mr. Nitkin did a few tons of homework on Spanish Naos of the mid 15th century- the little parts were gorgeous- like the many different blocks and fiddly bits. Really should turn any patient modeler into a very deft hand! I didn't see the belaying pins in it though- and those have been a bit of a problem for me; as an example, the ones you removed from Boreas were large and ungainly- multiply them by the scale and they would be fat chunky things in 100% size. Also, everything I might know about the Santa Maria is far from K's level but I have always thought/been told it was under a hundred feet overall legth, and not the 120' this model suggests; could he have misquoted the scale? Or is my recollection off?
Just today my husband watched a video on his channel about Santa Maria and what is known about it. It is not known more precisely! It was 100-150 feet but no one knows for sure. By the way, there are no belaying pins in the kit at all. They did not exist at that time. You must have confused the toggles with them...

I remember once asking you, how do you feel about plastic ship models and you said something like "No, only wood and metal are kosher!"
So, now I wonder, how you feel about those resin parts in the kit? ;-)
I'm not at all against cast metal ship parts. But firstly, casting cannot provide the required detail, unless it is cast in silver. And secondly, the cost of casting in silver today would actually raise the price of this set by about 80 dollars. And if cast from brass, the detail of the metal parts would be greatly lost. Anyone who finds resin parts unacceptable has the right to make them from metal, if he can, of course...))
@@PavelNikitinShips I am all ok about building the whole ship model from plastic. But that's not the point. I was asking Olga about her rock-hard no-no for the plastic. :-)
@@SQSNSQ Build an entire model from resin printed parts? No, this is already a strong overkill..))) This will definitely never happen, Plastic is not able to convey the texture of wood... And as for the hard no from Olga, I probably shouldn’t blame her for the fact that I, as a manufacturer, look at the construction models from a slightly different perspective. Olga is, after all, a professional athlete, and this sport has very strict rules, and everyone who competes in ship modeling competitions must comply with them. I have no such restrictions...))
@@PavelNikitinShips What if you are building a model of a steel, or iron hull ship? Surely you can make it from silver-soldered brass, but that would take crazy amount of time and effort. Injection molded, or 3D printed plastic, or even a fiberglass would make a much easier substitute.
But then again, this is not what I am asking about.

It doesn't matter if it's plastic or metal, but the part was actually wooden on the ship - I'll throw out both types of material and make a wooden one. How I did it on Pinta, where there was a completely metal boat - I made it from wood, in the same kit there were completely metal carriages for guns - they were overtaken by the same fate as the boat))) Or very often in the kits I see plastic gratings, have you seen even one of these on my models))))

Sails as for the kit are very decent! But I would definitely resew them)))
The kit includes very detailed drawings of the sails, so you can of course make the sails the way you personally like. In this matter, the decision is only yours...) Moreover, this is only a drawing applied to the fabric, and there is still a lot of work before the sails are completely finished...)

Jeg modtog denne boks tilbage i 2022, da jeg var i Kiev, direkte fra Pavels hænder! Men på det tidspunkt var messingdelene, der satte sig fast i byen Kharkiv (denne by var dengang under konstant beskydning), og instruktionerne var ikke klar...
Endelig modtog jeg alle dele af sættet)))
