Regardless of the results, this was a fun poll tournament
Something big I thought was missing is Silence of the Lambs
I don't like horror movies
@@patricklarsen182OMG YES I Adore That Movie
@@MonsterXenomorphVelocira-uq3mjso why are u here
Agreed! Silence of the Lambs and Alien could have been part of the conversation, but regardless, this was fun! Hopefully, he does more tournaments in the future!
Sean you gotta do this again with other genres like action movies this was awesome
I enjoyed participating in these polls. Some of them were extremely difficult, because I loved them both and didn't want to vote against either. For instance, the choice between The Thing and The Shining was painful, but I had to go with The Thing. I'm glad Rotten Tomatoes saved it in the first round. Seven is definitely a horror film; "psychological thriller" is a term used by folks who want to judge horror only by its lesser examples. I'm satisfied with the result, because your choice wouldn't even exist without the poll's winner being there first. That counts for a lot with me.
I love monster movies but not horror movies
What’s funny is that four of these films, Se7en, Halloween, IT, and Scream I’m using as influences or inspiration for my own film concept.
I didn't like scary movies, i did love wednesday netflix (2022) that's are not so scary!!
@@MonsterXenomorphVelocira-uq3mj........... ok
Should do one of these but for horror villains
I’d love that.
Im sure it took you a whole lot of time, but man a comedy bracket showdown would be a killer. Please do one if youre able to
It's on the table
Se7en is for sure a horror film. It's a horror thriller, but a horror nonetheless. However, I think the most representative movie in that subgenre is definitely The Silence of the Lambs
Definitely not horror just because something is a little tense and scary doesn’t make it horror
@@jackstretch3235 it's about a guy killing people that are breaking one of the 7 Deadly Sins. That's literally what a template for a horror killer sounds like (e.g. John Kramer - choosing victims who don't appreciate their lives). Not to mention, the movie is horrifying: that's what a horror film is
Yeah like a horror, crime and thriller, sub genre. I think silence of the lambs is definitely another good example.
@@robertmarginean164 that’s a disingenuous synopsis it’s about an investigation into it not the people actually getting killed. At no point do we follow the killer or victims perspective we don’t see the deaths at no point do you feel like the main characters are about to be taken out it’s thrilling but it lacks quintessential horror elements
@@jackstretch3235 what does seeing the killer's perspective and the victims getting killed have to do with it? In the first Saw, we saw the killer's perspective for like 1 minute, in a movie like Misery, there are no victims being killed for the vast majority of the runtime. Typical slasher tropes have nothing to do with the overarching genre that is horror. Horror is designed to horrify you, just like a comedy is designed to make you laugh. It's plain and simple
Disappointed Silence of the Lambs wasn’t an option 😢
Yeah it was Seven or Silence of the Lambs. Could have gone either way for the horror/drama.
no omen as well
Great idea ! I would like to see you do this more often for other genres !
Xenomorph vs Velociraptor vs T Rex vs Werewolf in a death battle, that's are not horror movies,
Thanks Sean, this was really fun, getting us involved was really cool. Freddy is my guy, I had to vote for him every chance I had, haha. I think Seven is fine, I'm sure it's marketed as a crime/drama, but it has horrifying elements from the get go. Also, it's your list, so really, that's up to you. Thanks again!
i want to have a straight long black hair with straight and closed bangs in 2024,
@@MonsterXenomorphVelocira-uq3mj what?
Damn the clip with Chandler hits different now:( RIP Matthew Perry
Scream is in my top 10 movies of all time. Scream is the GOAT
Children’s horror
@@Mikey-em8hs the fuck are you talking about.
I loved doing that movie poll, so fun May the force be with you
For me I agree with you I choose Scream 1 I thinks its the best out of all of these, but I still love halloween so Im happy that it won.
Hey Sean. This video was alot of fun, my finals would have been A nightmare on elm street vs IT. Hope you and the family are having a great spooky season. 🎃👻
I don't love horror movies, and just i love monster movies that including as dinosaurs, werewolves, and more
Thanks for allowing us to be part of this, Sean! I'm happy my favorite Horror movie won it all🥇
RIP Matthew Perry 🙏
Sean can you do this in December with classic holiday films?
It’s possible
Die hard !!!
@@lukeschroter9389 absolutely a Christmas movie
Great video as always, Sean. Loved seeing Scream make it so high! Not seeing Jaws or Silence of the Lambs on here hurt though. lol
There's plenty more classics left to do a second edition next year!
Oh man. Halloween and Scream are my 2nd and 3rd favorite horror movies, respectively (Conjuring 2 is my favorite horror movie...all 3 of these are in my top 10 films of all time).
This was a really cool video and I'd love to see more like this!
Personally, I feel like Jaws, Jurassic Park, Alien, or Predator deserved a spot in this tournament as the iconic horror creature flicks. Not entirely sure what it should replace, either Seven or Gremlins.
Still had a ton of fun watching and voting in these polls though, thank you Sean for doing this!
Don’t take gremlins away from me!
Predator sure, but I dont consider Jurassic Park a horror movie. I'd consider Cats as a horror movie though lmao
@@noobmasterruben5167 i personally think JP walks a fine line between horror and thriller. It’s definitely a lot of elements of horror similar to Jaws, just with dinosaurs in this case.
Personally tho, of the picks I mentioned I’d actually go with Alien. No debate on whether or not it’s in the horror genre and it’s extremely iconic as both a creature flick and a sci-fi.
Genius idea for generating engagement. Here's a comment to do my part. Great job, bro.
I think I would have replaced Seven with It Follows, much more of a memorable horror movie from recent memory, Seven is a classic movie but it's a Detective Thriller more then a Horror movie
This was fun and frustrating, haha. Personally, i would’ve hopes to see The Thing get further in the tournament but the top picks were understandable.
This was a great video, You should do this with comic book movies
I've done a DC and Marvel version.
I suppose I could do a Marvel bracket and a DC bracket.
this was such a fun video, good job Sean!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Personally, don't mind Seven being in the bracket, it was surprisingly but it belongs. But against Conjuring? Conjuring!
The thing for me is the best classic movie the movie atmosphere is amazing and from the more modern list goes to get out 🎉don't get me wrong I love all the movies on the list can't go wrong with any of them
Definitely do more of these Sean! I love the tournament style idea
I also really think SINISTER should’ve been on here, over Hereditary. It’s one of the best horror movies ever imo.
Love Sinister! Just recently did a re-watch
Awesome video, a lot of these were really tough choices. I get it's how it worked out, but putting Scream in the modern section felt a little off, I think it has more nostalgia than the others.
Curious to see how the X, Pearl, and Maxxxine Trilogy will fit into the horror movie timeline. It's looking to be a very great horror trilogy.
It’s a shame there was no Universal or Hammer Horror films here. My personal favourite horror films are:
1) Nosferatu (1922)
2) Halloween (1978)
3) Psycho (1960)
4) The Bride of Frankenstein (1935)
5) The Shining (1980)
6) Dawn of the Dead (1978)
7) The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
I’d also like to throw in an honourable mention to 2022’s Talk To Me, a film which I recently watched on a friend’s recommendation and it scared the Hell out of me.
Side note, The Shining and The Thing sound like a great double feature. Claustrophobic, snowy horror of the early ‘80s.
It gives me plenty more classics for next year!
@@SeanChandlerTalksAboutI recommend it, a lot of the Universal movies are awesome (if you’re into that sort of thing, I know a lot of people are turned off by films of that era, philistines).
So glad Scream and Halloween were the top 2, those are my favorite horror movies so I was happy no matter which one won
Seven is an amazing film, but it shouldn’t be on this horror bracket, which is why I chose IT (also an amazing film). It falls in line better with movies like The Silence of the Lambs, Zodiac, Prisoners, Manhunter, Monster, I Saw the Devil, Red Dragon - which should all be next years October 31 on 31 theme (serial killer movies)
My number 1 is the shinning I think it's incredible and I just love Kubrick so much it's incredible
Scream is also my personal favourite but Halloween definitely deserves the title. Holds up really well and is great every time I watch it.
Agree
I don't know if it's just me but to me "The Ring (2002)" is an all time classic horror movie and I think it should have made the list! (instead of Seven?)
The good news is that I still have plenty of classics to do a second edition next October!
Cool video and idea .imo seven should be in a separate bracket
Halloween is in my top 10-15 films so I’m not going to argue with that. Good fun but in my opinion The Thing and The Shining are the 2 best films here - my favourites at least. My stomach dropped when I saw them vs each other in round 1. I feel Psycho deserved more too, it’s just not appreciated enough anymore, many just dismiss it because it’s old, more subtle and black and white. Personally I’ve never found Nightmare on Elm Street at all scary, not even as a kid, it’s more goofy than chilling, but I still like and enjoy it, I just don’t consider it a truly great horror film. .
Awesome video! Some of my favorites didn't make it to the Final Four but I love this kind of stuff!
Good horror movie ranking video. My rankings based on how you bracketed them is as follows...
Final Four: Halloween, Psycho, Scream and Seven
Championship Round: Halloween vs Scream
Champion: Halloween
It is now 2 years when I first found this channel
Nice!
I don't think Seven is a horror film simply because I don't think it's trying to scare you, it's trying to intrigue you. It's violent and dark and disturbing but the driving force of the movie is the mystery about the killer and their motive, while the other films on the list are specifically trying to be scary. Even the Shining has explicitly scare-focused scenes like the axe murder and 'Here's Johnny'.
I think if Seven counts then Silence of the Lambs should also count! Which is an even better movie in my opinion and would be one of the best in the video.
Fun poll. My favorite is scream I tend to like horror movies that tend not to take themselves seriously and have fun. I also love scream cause it's a guessing game as to who's under the mask each movie. Which makes it alot of fun to watch each movie
Of the movies on here I can agree with final 2 and it is hard to choose
This was such an awesome video and I'm glad to see my boy Michael take home the top prize. Keep up the awesome vids!
Never heard you talk about psycho before Sean. Have you seen Bates Motel? It’s a pretty good modern prequel/retelling of the classic story, and it’s got Vera Farmiga as Norma Bates.
I have not
Bates Motel was SO GOOD! I tell everyone to watch it, you will enjoy for sure!
Halloween is a really good one but I’m with you scream is my favorite horror movie like Matthew Lillard is amazing in that film but I’m surprised IT didn’t make it higher
5:08 Rest in Peace Matthew💘
I’ve always thought the shining and the thing were tied for the best horror film ever made, I still can’t decide which is right but I lean towards the thing, it’s simply perfect, I first watched it years ago and I still think about it daily
Thanks for doing this! I really enjoyed the video.
In case you do this again in a future year, I listed my input on changes. Your pick were all good, but mixing it up could make the poll feel fresh if you do this again.
The Thing -> Alien
Seven -> The Silence of the Lambs
Blair Witch Project -> Paranormal Activity
The Conjuring or Get Out -> A Quiet Place
A Nightmare on Elm Street -> Dawn of the Dead or Night if the Living Dead (the original for zombie movies
The clip of chandler hits so hard after the news he died:(
Seeing Friends in that cut away hits hard today. 😢
Hot take : I think hereditary is eh and is insanely overrated. I watched it and was not scared at all. More disturbed and grossed out
Same!!
Thanks Sean! Very entertaining as usual, keep up the great work!
I think an interesting tournament could be with Fantasy Sub-genres.
Epic Fantasy: LoTR
Portal Fantasy: Wizard of Oz
Coming of Age: Harry Potter
Dramatic Fantasy; Green Mile
Urban Fantasy: Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory
Romance Fantasy: Princess Bride
Science Fantasy: Star Wars
Historic Fantasy: Clash of the Titans
Psycho being kicked out so early is a crime. From a writing, directing, and acting standpoint it’s arguable the best horror movie ever. Also it was the very first of its kind and without the slasher genre wouldn’t even really exist
Fun poll and October video idea. 4 of my top 10 horror were in the tourney so i cant be mad
Rip gremlins
Psycho easily over nightmare on elm street not even close great vid by the way!
You should do the same thing come Christmas time
That was a good video. I am also happy, because I helped pick the winner😊
You're not alone, Sean. I also prefer Doctor Sleep over The Shining. The Doctor Sleep director's cut is a masterpiece
That was a fun video cool tournament 💯🔥🤘 that should of been the finals as well 😅👍🔪💯
The Thing is my favorite horror movie. I say that because while I like The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en much more, no one is going to disagree with The Thing being a horror movie.
It makes sense it came down to those two. I love and watch both every October 👏
Super ! You should do that for other genre !!!
Now that you're a staple on the campea show...can we get you to get John to watch some Indian movies? 😂
Campea's a tough nut to crack.
Luvd your shout out to Pathaan (tho I'm not a fan of it) on his show.
Halloween and Omen are my go to horror watches !!!!
I don't know if you've done this yet, but u should do a tournament but with the greatest horror franchises of all time!
KEEP IT UP!!!!!!!
I can't believe the Thing wasn't liked when it came out, it's one of the best movies I've ever seen
When it came out it competed against ET and horror is a different kinda genre. And some movies didn’t get major good reviews at first like Die Hard and Home Alone
Seven is a top 5 movie for me (1 per franchise rule) but IT pt. 1 is my favorite horror movie
Halloween is my favorite movie of all time. Scream is my 2nd so this video made me happy
My first horror movie I ever watched was Halloween with my grandma but when scream came out her and I would watch all of them together it is my by far favorite movie of all time I even have a ghost face tattoo
Couldn't help but notice you used the Chandler clip at 5:07, which is very coincidental considering Matthew Perry just sadly passed away
Shoulda switched seven and hereditary with texas chainsaw and friday 13th
Hereditary>Friday The 13th and it’s not even a competition
@@owennicholson8914 never even heard of it, jason is so iconic he has his mask in museums
Halloween is my favorite.
But scream is really good also
I'd take Psycho and probably Blair Witch for my finals! I adore Alfred Hitchcock, my favorite director of all time (Vertigo and North by Northwest ate my favorites)! Hereditary looks awesome tho, should check that out. Amazing video Sean! Also, Seven deserved to be counted.
It would’ve been groovy to see the evil dead on this bracket but I’m ecstatic to see Se7en
Personally, having never watched a single horror movie, Saw and Nightmare on Elm Street are my favourites
For me, it's carpenter vs carpenter for best. The thing or Halloween.
you should do this with movies and tv shows of different genres
I’m having a hard time watching the rest of this after that insane Shining/Thing selection, but I’ll push onward with the steadfast soul that I have. Objectively THE most out of pocket pick & hottest take in horror, nay…in film
My final 2 would be between "The Thing" and "Saw"
This is actually a great evaluation method. Really fair 👌
I agree. I prefer the thing over the shining. The thing is one of my favorite movies of all time. Combined horror and sci fi
Should have had Texas chainsaw massacre in here. That movie truly started it all.
would swaped out seven for 28 days to get modern zombie movie
There's always next year. I've got plenty more classics
Great vid! Sean you have to one for horror sequels and remakes!! Please
Top ten horror movies
1. The thing just flawless masterpiece thank you Carpenter
2. The Exorcist the scariest movie ever
3. Texas Chainsaw massacre most disturbed I’ve ever been watching a movie
4. The Shining Literally just had a nightmare about I was at the overlook and jack was chasing me
5. Halloween any horror fan must hav Halloween on there top five it’s just too iconic classic
6. Psycho Yessir I’m 22 and I don’t care how old it is psycho was great
7. Nightmare on Elm street. Come on it’s Freddy Krueger
8. Alien in space no one can hear you scream
9. Speaking of scream. Scream thank you Wes Craven
10. The Descent the most underrated horror movie of all time it’s alien in a cave
The thing. Before i finish this episode that's my call. Would be happy with scream too! Let's see whether my delicate sensibilities can handle it....
I feel I am one of the very few that preferred gremlins over Halloween
Horror always is not my fav genre I don't like to watch however in recently because of cody leech i was able to appreciated this genre and saw some movies because of his videos glad i did.
I feel like one of the few who feels the original saw is by the far best movie in its franchise.
IT over Seven. I go off movies I can rewatch and after watching Seven I don't have any reason to watch it again. Feels like one of the films that after you know the big reveal it just becomes meh on other viewings.
This was great. Nice template to watch with the lady who doesn’t like movies much and her kids know nothing of these classics. Time to watch one a night 🙌🏻
Scream is the goat
This was so fun❤
Loved it! Cheers Sean! Happy Halloween everyone 🎃
Instead of Seven you could have included Mulholland Drive. It has more horror elements to it than Seven. And The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is my all time favorite and it's a classic, a definitive slasher exploitation movie. Would have loved to have them included here but nevertheless this was fun❤
