  • This event, held June 18, 2024 at Rice University's Anderson-Clarke Center in Houston, TX, discusses the impact that the SCOTUS decision on affirmative action is having on leadership at institutions of higher education and other organizations. How do we continue supporting college access for students from traditionally marginalized communities? How do we educate and develop transformative, equity-driven leaders?
Moderator Fay Yarbrough, Associate Dean of Rice University's School of Humanities, leads a conversation with panelists Gary Orfield, Professor of Education, Law, Political Science and Urban Planning at UCLA; Patricia Gándara, Research Professor of Education at UCLA; and Susan Sturm, Professor of Law and Social Responsibility at Columbia University.
"In the Wake of Affirmative Action" is an event sponsored by the University of Michigan Center for Social Solutions and the Rice University Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.

Government has no right to discriminate based on race.
    That includes government schools.
We should abolish all race based government policies.
