Nice job Earl. Gear sounds great and your playing is spot on. Tasty fills you always provide. Happy Sunday and Independence Day. Oh and prayers to Aerosmith drummer Joey Kramer whose wife passed away last week.
You had me hooked at the first ting of your plastic tipped stick hitting your cymbal, and then the great sound of you kick drum added even more, but your tom fills brought in the icing on the cake. A very explosive sound for a very explosive weekend. Take care, my friend.
Excellent playing Earl, great song choice! I really enjoy your videos, thank you! Oh,, did you get a new snare drum? in other videos you can see dark discoloration on the skin from the palm of your hand while you are tapping the stick on the rim?
Thanks for the feedback Anthony … this snare is my 6.5x14 Ludwig Black Beauty with a new REMO CS coated head. My 5x14 still has the old head that has a lot of brush playing on the head … that’s the dark spots! One day this head will look that way too! 😎🙏🏻
Betty, thanks for watching! The short answer is that I like the sound I get from the snare drum. But I’ll explain it better on my next Ask Earl Anything show in December 2022.
Not the song you'd think of when thinking of a drum cover... Or maybe it is! This is a tight Paul Leim classic. Now, to the this cover - there are a LOT of added fills and beats and time changes, not a cover but more an interpretation. All in all - sounded good.
Thanks for watching Bob … I appreciate the kind words. I think your definition of a drum cover is your interpretation and I have a few UA-cam friends that agree with you. Unfortunately, I do not! I love playing as close as possible, but I think in the end it comes down to how it feels. I played this song in a “cover” band for years in the 80s and 90s, it was never played like the record … that’s definition of a “cover” … close but not exact! Thanks for the feedback 👍🏻
@@earldrum I hear you. There is certainly no standard as to what a cover is. I have this conversation with Yacht channels. Like, how long is a Superyacht next to a Megayacht? You can't really answer it. Although, I would like either myself! The audience does appreciate a cover that doesn't stray too much - unless they are prepared before hand, knowing an artist has come from an entirely different angle. Sometimes this discombobulates - and sometimes it's epic.

Just wow 😯😮. What a awesome cover/Interpretation. Why do you use your left stick that way?
