In every facet of cycling there is that one person that stands head and shoulders above everyone else. Lucas you are that man on a road bike. Huge amount of respect!!!
Oh CANADA, my home, and native land! Nice to see you with the Canadian Flag Lucas, Be Well, Drink Well.. Ride Fast and Die Last! Heading out for a ride just north of Toronto myself today!
Absolute god damn legend, thank you for this content, always amazing to see someone ripping it up in Boston, let’s ride sometime hopefully I can keep up
Thank you for this video Lucas! Today we had the same weather here and and made first 10 km in a snow storm with my 25 mm 110 psi Continental Ultra Sport III - very good tires also and the price is wow! :) :) :) The biggest limitations are most often only in our brain, mind and Ego and at some point when we see that the reality can be very different with new expanded boundaries we experience a real awakening! Thank you! Good Luck, Lucas!
Been riding all year round in Toronto for 30+ years, but a broken collar bone, 2 concussions, dislocated shoulder and being 50 have shaken my nerve to ride in the snow now
Thanks for showing the benefit and actual riding with that skinny tire, I've known it but never actually seen how it does. 7:26 This spot where you went through the snow without much effort blew my mind, thinking with my fatter tires there is no way I could have gone through it that easily. But still with the benefit of it cutting into the snow, damn that was impressive, especially your cornering!
I have watched this video so man times, especially the part in the middle, the music in the middle is nice!!! :) I have been also so many times outside in the ice and snow with my road horse after watching this video for the first time ... :) I'm using tyres Continual Ultra Sport III in 120 psi, have to say that this tyres are also very good in such a snow and ice weather, and they costs only 13 euro! :) Thank you! Good Luck!
Lucas, awesome to see this! What tires do you suggest for these conditions. On 32s gatorskins I had a hard time with 80psi. Felt slippery. I like the cutting through the snow idea. Is it easy to keep the back from slipping out? Or front slipping side to side over bumps?
I run everything for speed, 23mm tires at 120psi, however, you need to maintain a high speed so you can correct the bike when you start to slide out. At slower speeds like less than 15mph my tires don't do so well. At 30+ mph it's being on rails
been a fan of you & your content and you always help me snap outta any slump I had let myself get into. Consider Doing the Chupacabras 100K in Juarez Mexico. KEEP AT IT ! 👍
You opened my eyes to what and when road bike can ride sir 😊 Thank you so much for that. In the last year I've expanded my playground a lot 🚲🙏✌️ One question pops into my mind. Did you use winter tyres? 🤔
Was this in Boston? I see a Dunkin and a Verizon and a USPS, gotta be Boston somewhere. I ride personally in western and central MA and Im riding even in winter on my Domane, need a mountain bike though! Edit: Yep, seen a building for Tufts and Congress ave, nice.
You are awesome, I love riding in the snow on the roadbike too but I stopped because it destroyed my bike with the salt and all, how is your cinelli handling it all?
Now that is a dedicated rider. I have no reason to be out riding with that much snow. Anyway, where I live most everything would be closed anyway and the snow plows would likely get the secondary roads on the second day after the snow.
I relate to the snow riding so much...not at 120psi but certainly the only 23 tires out in fresh snow. Your icy skitch was beyond control tho. Master level. Love the spirit, missed ya in denver. Lets ride
I don’t know enough yet, I can tell you, ANYthing would be better than this exposed drivetrain we use now. It’s the dumbest system, no other mode of transportation leaves drivetrains exposed requiring constant cleaning
Yes they are and fingers were still cold, I haven't tried the electric heated gloves but based on the reviews I believe they’ll be better because a five finger glove gives you a lot more control than the lobster claw style
I usually run 100-110 but increased it for the snow. Many of the pros still ride 23, Egan for example, all world speed records have been broken on narrower tires. I regularly go 60+ mph and can feel the difference on a wider tire, more resistance and tougher to hang on and skitch, the bike drifts and is lighter with wider tires which becomes very dangerous. 23mm are not practical or as comfortable but for speed they're great
Bean town!!! Wish they plowed the Cape Rail Trails like they did those paths in the city!!! Ohh and you are 1000% right about swift! Go outside is wayyyy better!!!!

Special bike handling skills
You're a wild man. I used to love to do that when I was a kid on the bmx bike. Can my gravel bike do this if I get 45mm knobbies?
I prefer narrower tires, 23mm at 120psi for speed but yes, safer and more stable would be the 45mm knobbies
I was worried for this guy until I saw the Ukrainian flag. Riding in the snow should be second nature at this point.
