I really hope Ohtani is being truthful. Its been a while since we've had larger than life players like him and De la Cruz. Baseball needs them. As a Yankees fan, but also a Baseball fan, how can you not love watching pure talent like what these guys have. Reminds me of growing up watching Bonds, Gwynn, Maddux, Bo and others who just blew you away with their sheer talent. You knew you were witnessing something special. As we are with these guys.

Cincinnati has finally crawled out of the pit of the laughingstock in the sports world. With the Bengals becoming consistent title contenders, the Reds with their young crop of players that are showstoppers like Cruz, and even the Bearcats basketball program is turning a corner, joining the big 12 and going tow to tow with it in their 1st year and showing they can handle alot of the pressure, it's just a wonderful thing. What a time to be a Nati sports fan

Elly's story is great, however I have to throw mad shade at Rich Eisen right now.
Rich, who could have taken 10sec to look up how to properly pronounce Elly's DR hometown on his phone is trying to throw suspicion Ohtani's way because he doesn't speak English? News Flash: It's harder to go from Japanese to English than Spanish to English because a chunk of American English is rooted in Latin pronunciation.
The language barrier isn't the reason for suspicion.

I don't think he was throwing shade at Ohtani - he was just noting that most people don't take the time to learn a second language just to connect with fans.
And you're right - Japanese English is another layer of impossible because of the character/alphabet difference.

A lot of Japanese artist that can speak basic english usually have an interpreter. They usually answer simple questions themselves but when they want to explain something into more detail they speak in Japanese and let the translator translate. As some of you may know the structure sentences in Japanese is the total opposite to english and not only that but L's are R's and R's are L's. A lot of people are afraid that people will make fun of them from pronouncing "Flied Lice" instead of fried rice.
