Another problem with that "any women just existing" quip, Jen isn't really snarky in the comics. Sure, She-Hulk is, but Jennifer was shy and insecure. She didn't go around making these quips but it just seems like the writers at Marvel Studios want to cram in as many snarky comments into their shows as possible without a care in the world about if that stays true to their character or not.
Endgame was appropriately named, because it not only ended an incredible run using one of Marvel's ultimate story lines and big bad's but for the most part the run from Avengers to EG avoided the wokeness... other than Captain Marvel. Now its all they have and its sad because She Hulk, Moon Knight, even Kate Bishop are good characters, but MCU is now agenda first character second.
I feel like that narcissist remark was made because the writer needed to figure out a reason for why over-powered She-Hulk would not want to become a hero then, but didn't want to write the character having selfish or cowardly reasons. The usual reasons for not becoming a superhero (especially for one that doesn't have a family to worry about). Can't have the female character looking realistically flawed. So instead of giving a reason personal to the character, the writer shits on the male characters to side-step the issue altogether and prop up the female. Probably perfectly fine or completely unselfaware that the remark makes She-Hulk look like an a-hole for saying that about people like Tony, who gave up everything for others. $10 says She-Hulk will be a massive narcissist, but the writers will hope the viewer is too dumb and buys the deflection as the show points at the original Avengers for being narcissists first.
I feel like my monkey paw wish from 2013 finally came true. _Eugh..._ Poor Jen. She deserved better. For real though, *the superhero law firm* was a legitimately funny, tongue-in-cheek concept in the comics, but it feels marred by the MCU's *self-serious awkward 'humour'.* I miss the Marvel that proudly indulged in the sillier aspects of itself in clever ways, instead of being _breath-takingly stupid about it._
I'm honestly so sick of the cynicism permeating present-day culture. Kids don't need to be exposed to stuff like that, let them hang on to innocence a little while longer.
What they could have done is - have the actress play Jennifer in human form and have another, beefier actress play the She-Hulk with the help of prosthetics and CGI You know you screwed up when OG "Charmed" did three better She-Hulks 17 YEARS AGO.
1) they even failed to pick an actress that looks nothing like the She Hulk model. 2) Should have just made her a cartoon. Fuck it, just Roger Rabbit this shit. It fits She Hulk's meta narrative, and she could look just like she does in the comics.
There's nothing wrong with a lawyer that specializes in superheroes, that's a pretty cool setup. (Real lawyers do specialize (shocking!) and she'd have a personal motivator being one.) But why does a dude come in to tell her HE's giving her this opportunity, instead of it being something she decides on her own? you know like a good character with a proper arc? A whole "division"? Like imagine if Dr Strange started with the wizards coming to tell him they want him as Sorcerer Supreme because he's soo great and he'd be like "whiine, idk, I just want to be noormal" wow what a character, what a conflict.
Still cant get over them using sonic 2 trailer music for this one, and while it could be just, 'trailers can use similar music', its just eye brow raising with how prior to the trailers release, Sonic 2 was owning Multiverse of Madness in some audience scoring thing
I really don't understand how anyone making financial decisions just wants to systematically destroy every single ip they own, push stuff like ms marvel harder than Lucas pushed jar jar, and constantly fail and bomb over and over. the triple a releases seem to be financially successful at least but Ms marvels failed multiple reboots and still gets put in the front of movies as another reboot, presumably because she's a self insert of a higher up, and both marvel and DC just dookie all over their characters. You have some like the punisher show that can be surprisingly good and accurate to the character (if you like them to begin with) but then you have stuff like every character with a female lead having their entire character "strong indepandent WAHMEN ready to SCISSOR" and failing repeatedly. The comics companies are ran by complete idiots but surely eventually somebody has to be in charge of one of these at-one-time legendary companies that think "you know actually we kinda need to make money and the past 6 have flopped now so maybe we try to get fans accurate characters instead of a twittards self insert Tumblr fan fic"
You know Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 uses a ton of makeup, The third is filming now and literally broke the record for how much makeup has been used in a movie. You would think Marvel would do the same for She Hulk since she doesn't have to be hulk size.
A lot of trailers seem to be edited like this nowadays with the dramatic 'DUN' sounds and the little pauses for some painfully unfunny joke, it's pretty annoying
@@kingagrabowska9366 That's a beyond huge stretch to call it Batwoman espeically since she isn't crapping over Hulk and saying how she's better or taking his stuff for good measure

Ignoring, of course, the ridiculous idea that Hulk would even need to create or own some kind of death trap like that on his secret island is ridiculous. He's the f-ing Hulk. Not Dr. Doom.
@@yambuh3247 I concede that is a possibility. Although, seems strange to have something like that if the entire purpose is to make her hulk-out. Which would make her body (including her head) increase in size and become snug or, more likely, too big for that helmet. MCU Bruce Banner and Hulk definitely have much bigger heads. While testing her, she nor Bruce would have any idea just how big she'd become. Heck, all the prop people needed to do was put some little futuristic EEG reader made by Bruce or Stark industries. It would have looked less like she was one of the slow kids on the short bus with that helmet.
I liked Mark's performance in the first Avengers film, but with each new outing he's been growing off me more and more. Did they even say why she gets hulks blood in this one? In the trailer it looks like for just the fuck of it not because shes got a disease like in the comics
Why the fuck would they go with a bullshit disease when the true and actually good origin has been that she was shot because of a case she took and Bruce had to give her blood transfusion which gave her the Hulk's blood.
@@dimensionzone8048 that's not gonna happen in this one.they didn't show either a disease or a bad case in the trailer which means it's gonna be for some bullshit reason
@@strawberrylotlizard The trailer opens with a car falling off a bridge. I assume that's her in the car and Bruce will have to donate blood to save her due to whatever injuries she sustains. That said, everything Disney's released the past 4-5 years has been hot garbage, so faithful origin or not, I have no doubt this will be a dumpster fire.
The only plus I'll give this is that She-Hulk is just moderately attractive. They could've made her an ugly She-Male that talks about how you shouldn't judge a woman's looks or whatever.
Shulkie in the comics is a bit of a gag character. Strong and confident she does defend superheroes and such in court. Their research department at the firm is a buncha guys reading back issues of comics. Lotta good humor and fun to be had with the Emerald Amazon. But this isn't that.
53:33 What makes lines like that worse is that it's coming from characters who haven't even done anything to earn the right to throw shade at anyone else. Batwoman (the show) loved doing this all the time and it was equal parts hilarious and cringe every time. Like, bitch, come back when you've willingly sacrificed your life to save the world/universe and then I might take you seriously.
Endgame is where the franchise should have ended. I can’t be bothered to spend hours of my life with those mediocre shows, each one less vital than the last. And then there’s Phase 4’s lineup: Black Widow was a little better than I initially expected (I skipped this… like over half of this phase) but really, it’s so uninteresting. I feel like it’s more awkward than amusing. David Harbour was wasted as was the villains (Taskmaster). I don’t even know if retroactively watching this before Endgame helps it any. It’s a really bland spy movie that’s nowhere near as effective as Winter Soldier. Kind of a waste. Shang-Chi is sorta… fine? It’s better than the others but I don’t really feel the need to ever watch it again. It has a few flourishes of style, the acting is fine, and overall it’s solid but it doesn’t really tie into any of the MCU and if you skipped it, I don’t really know what you’d miss out on quite honestly. It feels lightweight like Ant-Man. Eternals is unequivocally the worst MCU movie I’ve ever seen. Say what you will about bottom tier MCU like Thor 2 or Incredible Hulk but those movies were at least relatively entertaining despite their flaws. Eternals is ungodly slow, stilted and pointless. I’ve never seen a movie spin its own wheels so hard just to explain why these so called immortals were absent for the entire infinity stone saga. I hated every single character and I could not care less. I never want to see it ever again. Spider-Man: No Way Home is easily the best on this list… although if I’m being honest, the impact of it dropped a lot after seeing it the second time around. I actually hate sitting through the first act of it and it doesn’t pick up until the villains appear. It has some questionable cgi and there are a few conveniences here and there. Ultimately, the “surprise cameos” are the biggest highlight for me. I haven’t felt like this since Endgame. I straight up skipped Dr Strange… and I don’t really have any expectations whatsoever for Thor 3 and Black Panther 2… I just want GOTG 3. That’s literally the only thing I would love to see at this point and that’s depressing. Lord knows, I’ll probably need to play catch up to understand the plot… Sorry for my novel.
What do Disney and Pokémon have in common? They're corporate machines that pump out mid-ass content. It kinda hit me hard when you mentioned statements like "well at least the movie didn't do _this"_ as if that was an argument that boosts the "goodness" of the thing they're defending. Seen it too many times. Instead of putting the time/effort to make one amazing thing, they'll just produce a bunch of B/C-tier content to maximize profits. The only time we'll ever get out of these ruts is when enough people finally had enough of these companies' bullshit (but that could take a long, long time)
Something u mentioned about the mcu cinematography. Can anyone actually point out a memorable shot from any mcu movie that isn't cgi. Is there any variety in any of the movies.
"Why do we need a specific type of lawyer?" With all due respect, there are many different types of lawyers, because there are many different types of legal issues. Criminal lawyers, personal injury lawyers, lawyers who specialize in issues relating to inheritances, lawyers who mainly serve as legal consultants for large companies, and so on. The former actor Jeff Cohen (Who, as a kid, was known for playing Chunk in 'The Goonies') is an entertainment lawyer. So, a lawyer who specializes in legal matters pertaining to superheroes isn't that far- fetched in the Marvel universe. However, you then do a freaking MAGNIFICENT job of eviscerating that repulsive line about how superheroes are "Narcissists." I would have then added that most of the MCU's "Girl Power" heroes that they portray as virtuous, invincible saints are just as narcissistic without ever getting called out on it (COUGHCOUGHCaptainMarvelCOUGH).
I'm disappointed that this show isnt just clever camera work and milk crates to make her look big and jacked. That strategy has worked for the entirety of Tom Cruises career how did anyone forget that?
Lmao yes! We watched the original Top Gun for the first time and had a time of it pointing out all of the scenes where the actors around Tom Cruise were sitting/slouching/crouching/etc while Tom was stranding straight. It looks natural until someone points it out anyway
Knowing what a sigma Mark Ruffalo is, if a voice director did try to give him direction, he'd likely snap back at them with "Weeme awone, you bad man!"
"sToP cRiTiCiSiNg tHe cGi iTs nOt tHe fInAl lOoK yEt" Okay, but if you turned the back of a book and saw a blurb that randomly ended in the middle of a sentence, would you not see that as sloppy and lazy instead of assuming "Oh, I'll just wait until the book actually comes out"? Stop defending and rewarding mediocrity. Just ... stop it.
Love how the new "hero" insulted the legacy hero like Tony Stark/Iron Man as "billionaire, narcissists and adult orphans" and somehow Disney wonder how people hate their shows...I mean, become racists so much.
TLDR: This is Shrek - Marvel edition Also, wouldn't She-Hulk defending abomination be a conflict of interest? Since she is the blood relative of the guy fighting him and from whom Abomination and She-Hulk both get their powers?
Is she even the blood relative of the Hulk anymore? I know they changed her origin because we can't have her owing a man for who she is....even though no one ever saw it that way.
I'm aware that She-Hulk is supposed to be campy and meta so it works if they want to do a silly, PG Deadpool style show. But I'm having mixed feelings considering who's on board creatively and the with the way the trailer presents things.
Part of She-Hulk character is that she isn't invaded by anger like her cousin, so her transformation is controlled, that's why her body is muscular in an athletic sense, and not the mass of muscle that is Hulk.
@@illseeyaonthedarksideofthemoon That doesn't negate the fact that she couldn't possibly produce as much force as the Hulk. Unless her muscles are supposed to be 4 times as dense.
I rode off phase 4 the moment they announced that they'd be having tv series on their subscription service that would tie into the MCU and would be required watching to understand the MCU going forward. I did leave the door cracked open so if I heard good things I'd bite the bullet and sub to watch, but so far all I hear is carp, crap and more crap.
But based on this trailer it seems like she signs up for the experiments. There's nothing indicating that she needs to do so to save her life. So after going through the experiments, why does she want a normal life now? Let alone all of the other problems, CGI.
it doesn't look bad but it does not look good either. it just looks...like a show that anyone will remember simply because the character will be relevant later on, not because the show stands out.
4:28 THANK YOU! I made that same suggestion, because in addition to it looker better, it would've been an awesome callback to the original show in having two different actors!
Could have had a cool John Byrne character, played for gags, with tongue in cheek critiques of the ridiculousness of these B tier characters, which were to capitalize on the soulless cash grabs by creating over the top female knock offs of male characters. Could have had a cool self aware comedy, with an actual strong, independent, beautiful women...instead looks like more cat lady, woke crap...it's too bad. Byrne's run with her kicked ass...
But that would require effort and 3D CG like What if with the bad renders of actor’s faces(and some they don’t have rights for). Yeah, but I wish Marvel would get some animated love again, but the closest example is Zimaut animation who did Hulk and Winter Solider justice.
even being a degenerate as myself and liking she hulk, this show still looks like shit, sounds like shit and probably it is shit. And yeah, it make it worse liking the character and hearing her say the stupid ''I'm not a super hero. That's for billionaires, narcissists and ADULT ORPHANS for some reason'' line.
The hair thing... well it was same in the Cartoon. Mousey ( admitedly fit) average young woman with Brown bobcut. Gets Banner blood & BOOM Green Amazon with long wavey Blue shaded Black hair

My hardcore Disney/MCU fan friends do not believe me when I say the highpoint of the MCU has come and gone. This phase is really, truly bad.
Yup, deflection, just like how the showrunners are trying to deflect from their own narcissism.
The fact that it's the same creator responsible for writing the Pickle Rick episode is a HUGE bad sign.

I agree but that will never happen, unless someone in charge stops caring about identity politics and starts thinking about making a good story
Scissor me timbers!
That’ll never happen. Disney is desperate to appeal to the twittards, and will gladly die doing so.
You know Guardians of the Galaxy 1 and 2 uses a ton of makeup, The third is filming now and literally broke the record for how much makeup has been used in a movie. You would think Marvel would do the same for She Hulk since she doesn't have to be hulk size.

2:39 Why would they even bother putting a helmet on her? The room she's in has a wall full of saws. No helmet is going to protect her from that if she failed to transform into She-Hulk. Ignoring, of course, the ridiculous idea that Hulk would even need to create or own some kind of death trap like that on his secret island is ridiculous. He's the f-ing Hulk. Not Dr. Doom.
Not to defend the show but i think it's for recording brainwaves
@@yambuh3247 I concede that is a possibility. Although, seems strange to have something like that if the entire purpose is to make her hulk-out. Which would make her body (including her head) increase in size and become snug or, more likely, too big for that helmet. MCU Bruce Banner and Hulk definitely have much bigger heads. While testing her, she nor Bruce would have any idea just how big she'd become. Heck, all the prop people needed to do was put some little futuristic EEG reader made by Bruce or Stark industries. It would have looked less like she was one of the slow kids on the short bus with that helmet.
Tbh this may be a hottake to some people but I never liked Mark Ruffalo as hulk and bruce. He felt like a smug winnie the pooh hipster😳

The one thing about this trailer that bothers me the most is that they literally reused the exact same music from the last trailer for Sonic 2. It’s so distracting, and these two trailer came out in the span of two months.
@@strawberrylotlizard orrrrr. They just didn’t put it in the trailer and you’re projecting.
She didn't get a disease. She was the target of a mob hit. She needed blood and Banner was on hand and matched her blood type.
The only plus I'll give this is that She-Hulk is just moderately attractive. They could've made her an ugly She-Male that talks about how you shouldn't judge a woman's looks or whatever.
"Ohhh, this is shrek", I cackled so hard at that line delivery 😂

The goodwill people bestow on Marvel is running out after Endgame, it seems. Or... as it should?
Endgame is where the franchise should have ended.
I can’t be bothered to spend hours of my life with those mediocre shows, each one less vital than the last.
And then there’s Phase 4’s lineup:
Black Widow was a little better than I initially expected (I skipped this… like over half of this phase) but really, it’s so uninteresting.
I straight up skipped Dr Strange… and I don’t really have any expectations whatsoever for Thor 3 and Black Panther 2…
I just want GOTG 3. That’s literally the only thing I would love to see at this point and that’s depressing. Lord knows, I’ll probably need to play catch up to understand the plot…
Sorry for my novel.
In a sense, Avengers Endgame is more than just a title.
The only time we'll ever get out of these ruts is when enough people finally had enough of these companies' bullshit (but that could take a long, long time)
From now on, I'm calling this movie, "Period Fiona."

"Why do we need a specific type of lawyer?"
With all due respect, there are many different types of lawyers, because there are many different types of legal issues.
However, you then do a freaking MAGNIFICENT job of eviscerating that repulsive line about how superheroes are "Narcissists."
I would have then added that most of the MCU's "Girl Power" heroes that they portray as virtuous, invincible saints are just as narcissistic without ever getting called out on it (COUGHCOUGHCaptainMarvelCOUGH).
I'm disappointed that this show isnt just clever camera work and milk crates to make her look big and jacked.
That strategy has worked for the entirety of Tom Cruises career how did anyone forget that?
