This sounds like one of those "I did it but at what cost?" moments in anime. I would probably cry if the scene was very heartbreaking because of this music

I noticed immediately that I KNOW this. It's Zetsubou Sensei. I even have this song on my computer.. One of my all time favourite shows. And the soundtrack is way too emotional for such a "deep" show... But I believe that was part of the magic.

It sounds like the first three measures of the main theme are a riff on Carrying You; they repeat at climactic moments, so it's easy to hear the similarity. Kamado Tanjirou no Uta sounds even more similar to Carrying You than this song does, and the composer is considerably younger (born 1974). He would have been about 12 when Laputa came out. Composers quote each other all the time (there's a bit in Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind that I'm convinced is purposefully lifted from West Side Story). As for how intentional and how subconscious this quoting is, I can't say! Ah, I remember this song being barely used in a serious manner within the show. It would always be played during overly dramatic scenes that poke fun of the absurdity of the whole topic they were making fun of. It really fits with Zetsubou sensei’s character and the entire series overall; overly dramatic, but genuinely sorrowful.

The correct origin doesn't come from a Japanese composer but originally from a tango song "Por una Cabeza" made in 1935 by Carlos Gardel. Most of the general public today likely been exposed to the song from the tango scene in "Scent of a women" (1992) with Al pacino. It's very likely Joe Hisashi was influenced by this to create the Laputa theme in 1986, while the other Japanese composeres followed suit. Even Carlos "Por Una Cabeza" could have been inspired by previous songs before them but who knows.

NGL the amount of people who think this plays for some super emotional deep moment about love and hate is hilarious, since like 99% of the time in the show it's played for gag sad scenes like how much he dislikes a certain aspect of society and how it brings him despair like bus schedules or some shit or how maria's family is poor so they pull things from the dumpster like tvs or microwaves or dumpster babies.
You won't. You'll remember it for a good bit you really enjoy it. If you add it to your playlists/phone you might just listen to this a bit. You might also listen to you for a few years. I'd say probably 4-5 years if you're hardcore fan of this, then you'll find something new or get bored of it and eventually leave it alone, which will now only leave you with the knowledge of it's existence that you didn't have before. In the end you won't remember it ''forever'' no. I highly doubt that.

I still can't get over a friend who just recently passed away ( and he was like a brother to me.... ) hearing this piece wanna makes me feel like crying out loud but as the way I've been brought , we boys shouldn't cry.... I never had expected that I would be drawn to him this close , and he would be like a brother figure to me... Ah, I remember this song being barely used in a serious manner within the show. It would always be played during overly dramatic scenes that poke fun of the absurdity of the whole topic they were making fun of. It really fits with Zetsubou sensei’s character and the entire series overall; overly dramatic, but genuinely sorrowful.

The correct origin doesn't come from a Japanese composer but originally from a tango song "Por una Cabeza" made in 1935 by Carlos Gardel.
Most of the general public today likely been exposed to the song from the tango scene in "Scent of a women" (1992) with Al pacino.
It's very likely Joe Hisashi was influenced by this to create the Laputa theme in 1986, while the other Japanese composeres followed suit.
Even Carlos "Por Una Cabeza" could have been inspired by previous songs before them but who knows.

You won't. You'll remember it for a good bit you really enjoy it. If you add it to your playlists/phone you might just listen to this a bit. You might also listen to you for a few years. I'd say probably 4-5 years if you're hardcore fan of this, then you'll find something new or get bored of it and eventually leave it alone, which will now only leave you with the knowledge of it's existence that you didn't have before. In the end you won't remember it ''forever'' no. I highly doubt that.

I still can't get over a friend who just recently passed away ( and he was like a brother to me.... ) hearing this piece wanna makes me feel like crying out loud but as the way I've been brought , we boys shouldn't cry....
I never had expected that I would be drawn to him this close , and he would be like a brother figure to me...

I do agree that some of the sequence of notes are very similar but when everything else about the song is different you can't say it's from 'Castle in the Sky'. I'm not mad because you noticed similarities, I actually like that, I'm upset because you didn't realise that it's a different song (which I view as an insult to Laputa) and are now giving false information.
