How Can A VR Game LOOK THIS REAL? // SUBSIDE (4090 VR)
Вставка
- Опубліковано 26 вер 2024
- Subside VR is a brand new VR game that focuses on one specific activity and aims to make it look and FEEL as real, immersive and escapist as possible; this is a VR diving game that has some of the best VR graphics I've ever seen. Subside VR will likely be compared to Kayak VR by most people, after all they both have incredible realistic VR graphics, they both take place in bodies of water and they both want to perfect one specific activity in VR rather than trying to do a bunch of different things. Subside VR feels wonderful to play, pushing and pulling your hands around to swim through these gorgeous environments is a real joy and I can't wait for the full game to release so that I can experience more of these locations. Right now you can download a demo for Subside on Steam which will give you access to the training mission and let you get a feel for how the full game will play.
Wishlist Subside and download the demo here: store.steampow...
This Subside VR gameplay was captured on a 4090 VR ready PC with a Quest 3 connected via link cable, the game is maxed out on the highest graphics settings and ran flawlessly during my demo playthrough. Are these the best VR graphics you've ever seen? 2024 is turning into the year where VR starts to feel REAL.

This is what I wished subnautica vr mod was, Honestly amazing
I loved subnautica in vr even using a regular controller. This looks amazing.
This feels more like some sort of surreal tech demo to show off friends and family vs being an actual 'game' game, but that's absolutely fine. I just wish they'd port it over to PSVR2 quickly, instead of Q1 2025.
These single person developers are amazing. First I VTOL VR, then Subside VR...
Diving into blackness in Stranded Deep scared the absolute hell out of me and that was just on a monitor, I can only imagine the potential in VR.
downloaded the demo immediately after seeing this and yeah, it's pretty awesome. Got the weighted belt and flippers already. Can't wait for the full experience.
I already own Kayak VR Mirage and I just added this sim on my wish list on Steam! Looks FANTASTIC! And so REALISTIC!
Looks completely amazing and I am so happy to hear that the dev is porting it to PSVR2 once the PC version is done.
Really? This will be great to show off to guests and VR virgins.
Uh, really?? Looking at it I was just thinking how much I would like to have tis on PSVR2 with Foveated rendering to make it the best looking possible, just to enjoy chill submarine exploration.
excellent news, if you use foveated rendering the game will look perfect.
Having dolphins, sea turtles and octopi come up to you would be fantastic obviously, there is something amazing about the sense of presense of creatures in vr
Absolutely. As long as there's no surprise ambushing by great whites or Mako sharks, unless there's a mode that warns you. :P I can typically handle anything in VR, unless it's freakish under water marine life.
The shark encounter from PSVR World's ocean descent on PSVR1 back in 2016 did me in. Heck, i can't even handle the Shark cage in Ocean rift on Q3. Even if the shark looks and moves less realistically, it still hits hard because of the smoother more life like 90fps motion and higher resolution :P
Was gonna say I noticed they didn’t mention sharks, they should make this a chill game tbh, then make a horror style one with krakens, sharks, pirhana alligators etc or make that dlc to this aha
A solo Dev working on this is amazing, Imagine keep updating this game to add more explore and find secret treasure or scrap
This seems awesome! Gonna download it! Love the natural movement! Hopefully they'll also create a full body to increase immersion even further
I used to dive and the sound is well done and I found it super soothing. Looking forward to trying this. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
Yes, this game is definitely for us divers 😎
Glad you got a chance to show us what it’s all about, but I was sold when I saw the trailer last week!
Finally a chillout underwater VR experience, i had such a relaxing vibe from subnautica but this is much more realistic, like on par with bootstap island
you can even see the surface tension of the water. went and wishlisted and dl'd the demo.
It looks great, but it just makes me want to play Subnautica with the VR mod. So I wonder if it's worth it. Either way I really enjoy watching you play VR. The humor and because the way you describe the gameplay (because you're a VR veteran) helps me understand what to expect. *Edit: still looks worth playing even though it's not Subnautica, I think i'm going to check it out actually
Subnautica VR mod and Below Zero VR mod are the best VR games I've ever played in 3 years.
What vr mod are you talking about? Subnautica has native vr
@@aceaudiohq If you mean that "native" gamepad rubbish, then I am sure neither he nor I meant that. Subnautica VR mod by Okabintaro, fully supported 6dof touch controllers, is the one.
Wow this is the dream really! thx for sharing. Can't wait to try this. (Now we need a realistic Skiing game ;)
Beardo Benjo, This is fantastic! I subscribed right away!
What springs to mind when I look at this is Stranded Deep. That would be such an awesome and terrifying game in VR if you don’t like sharks 😄
using hand tracking in Virtual Desktop is pretty cool to
"I havent been diving in the real world, but I have been underwater of course." - I have also been a bath before Benjo. 👍
This looks.... absolutely incredible... My jaw dropped and ... I can't close it.
*AMAZING!* Thank you Beardo for this great discovery. I'm going to go try that! 👌
Just tried it ...the visual is stunning...just wow!..and it's a PC VR game
Yeah, what is about being able to do realistic water in VR 🤔 I don't know about standing up, surely lying flat on your belly would work best? 😂 Looks stunning and I love the change in sound as you go underwater!
Laying on your belly would restrict you from moving around and would be extremely uncomfortable. Standing up is the best way to play this game and any VR game :P
This could be an amazing happy game and/or a horrifying one 😂
I've always dreamed if this in PCVR, hopefully they add elements if Subnautuca as well!
This would be epic with hand tracking
Yes, but most pcvr titles don't support hand tracking I think.. If it was possible to run this on quest 3 would be cool tho!
I was looking for this experience !
Looks cool! Wishlisted on steam.
Smooth turn exist now for those who are wondering. Also, you can swim turn alternatively.
it would be cool to use lidar scanning to get real reefs and ships to explore
That looks really cool cant wait to check it out
This game looks awesome. Would be great if the full version has a speargun and allows spearfishing!
Cave diving would be sick
Cave diving metroidvania vr
Just played it...WOW if this dev sold it for 70 bucks I'd even buy it lol it's amazing. I have been diving before and one thing I noticed that really made me laugh is, when you're diving the googles around your face make a ring...JUST like the VR head set. So it's pretty wild...man that was crazy. I hope for a release date soon! or a level with night and day and wait for the rest
Looking forward to seeingit on psvr2, the creator tweeted plans to bring it to psvr2
Just discovered your channel, love the content! ill be sticking around :)
Wow looks super beautiful
This would be perfection with hand tracking
I’ll never snorkle again not even for a billion dollars but I’d love to play this.
They should combine kayak and this to create more interesting world ;)
This looks really, really good. What is your GPU utilization while playing this? On Steam it says the recommended GPU is a 2070 which seems kind of low for the sheer visual quality of this game.
"We all love playing with balls" 😂😂😂
Subnautica is the first thing I think of, which was a great game.
This looks really good.
I still regret that Freediver triton down was just a 1h game. It was a great swimming game. Swimming gameplay in Hubris a cool as well
I have been waiting for another diving vr game. "World of Diving" had so much promised but was abandoned. Can we get those developers to go back resurect that project again.
Yeah, World of Diving could have been something. I forgot I even had that in my library until I saw your post.
Freediver Triton Down
I have looked at that. But if I am not mistaken, isn't that a narrative game and not open ended for exploration?
@@jerkface07 It starts somewhat with free exploration but then becomes narrative.
Did you played Hubris? It has some diving mechanics and I absolutely fell in love with it. :)
I would definitely pick this up day one on psvr2 if it comes to it
Good find can't wait to try this. I have gone diving a few times. You should try it.
U reminded me how badly i needed to finish Subnautica
Wish listed. Thanks Ben
Looks chill. I'll give it ago later.
Thanks for the tip 👍.
This video was, at best, vaguely interesting to me. I really wish you would try these things on a more accessible GPU. I just don't see myself ever having a spare couple of grand to throw at a GPU. Still enjoying your content generally for the record.
yessss... this is making me thirsty.. WATERRRRR!!!
This is what I wanted in subnautica
wow this is really cool much better than kayak. This dev needs to do a skiiing game.
Kool stuff 🦾 Quick question though, can the "dog swimming motion" be used under water as well to move forward? or it is limited to that "beckoning motion"?
I'm a big subnautica fan, but I hated that the vr for that only used a game pad, and these graphics look like they blow subnautica out of the water. I just got the demo and wishlisted it. Thanks for the video.
The mod has full motion controls for Subnautica and Below Zero
@@Flat2VR I haven't tried the mod for below zero. Thanks. I heard that there's a mod for original Subnautica that gives motion controls, but I haven't gotten too big into modding yet. I might have to give it a try.
You found Wilson from Cast Away. Keep being awesome
aw you missed the chance to say it was the ultimate sub-mersive experience.
Imagine this on psvr2 with adaptive triggs 🤯
Hello, I don't have any sound. Anybod else?
Have you noticed?
Whitewater VR: Extreme Kayaking Adventure has got a release date ?
Very cool concept for a game but lacking some diving mechanics that I would love to see implemented. Don't get me wrong the visuals are great and going on little treasure hunts and exploring is cool but I want to feel like I am really diving and I recommend anyone who can to give it a try in real life. Something like managing your BCD and your depth. Being at certain depths for a while you can't just bolt to the surface or you risk decompression sickness. Equalizing your ears on the way down, temperatures dropping in deep locations, breathing from a regulator. It is also heavily encouraged not to use your hands to swim while diving because your arms get much more fatigued than your legs and you don't want to wack into anything underwater or knock any of your equipment loose.
All these mechanics to manage would make the little missions much more rewarding in my opinion.
Hand tracking enabled (which would be sick) or hand controllers only?
think by now the would have arms attached to the floating hands looks ok but not relistic at all
Fill up the bath tub, jump in and play it for the full immersion experience 😂
Can't wait to swim with sharks
I know this is a question for another one of your older videos but I highly doubt u will ever even see it so I'm messaging you on here its about rdr2 using vorp x I can't find anyone to answer me about how u got your characters hands visible in game while using vorpx i load it up and they are invisible if you can be of any help id greatly appreciate it thanks.
Do you guys think that a 3080 can make these VR games look stunning? I mainly my use quest 3 stand-alone and haven’t dabbled into steamVR since the oculus rift a couple years ago.
These games are replacing the ocean if you immersed to soon with the oil tape on day and night. The source of nausea might not be motion sickness at all. The smartest people have to direct safety and appreciation for the real world
no you were right Beardo-- VRs main purpose should always be gaming
"Great graphics, very realistic, but the hand movements when swimming seem incorrect - it's actually difficult to swim as it is now. However, as a preview/DEMO, it's a fantastic experience.
CMAS *** Diver"
Kayak VR, really? The comparison you are looking for is Freediver: Triton Down, but that's an adventure, light puzzler, not a meditation type experience
I was sold until the in-game purchases. They are nickel and diming for features that are almost required for the game. It's like selling you a car with bald tires.
Looks really nice, but everything looks nice on a rtx 4090. How will it scale on lower end hardware?
Foveated Rendering on the PSVR 2
How do u delete games from your Home Screen? Things are getting cluttered and need to get rid of all my demos.
lay across your kitchen table and play this game so you can kick your legs, talk about real.... total immersive....
"How can a VR game look this real?"
The clip shows hands floating in mid air not attached to an arm.
If only subnautica had this movement system
beuttifull tankyou
Just tested on a 3080 and Quest 2, works fine at Virtual desktop "high" settings (with 150mbps H265 10bit video quality), 80Hz, in game settings "high". The game is interesting, but after you collect the most obvious items, you just swim around the same place again and again, seeing nothing new..
Are there currently or soon to be any great alternatives for quest 3?
🧒🏻Thats like a solo diving adventure like Subnautica but without the extra gear, building structures , and life pods❕❕
I may check✔this out❕❕
What facial interface are you using for your Quest 3? Anyone know?
Does this have hands-tracking mode.
Subnautica 2 needs to be on unreal engine 5 and in VR.
Where is the key, did anyone find that key to unlock a underwater chest?
PC and psvr only..
Constantly teasing quest owners
Plays perfectly on 3070 laptop
Hold on to your butts until Subnautca 3 comes out in Unreal Engine 5...
I tried this demo, I find quite hard to swim underwater. The character keeps going up. Maybe I didn't got how to move
The moving is a bit awkward. You need to move your arms toward you which is very unnatural. When you collect the coins you can purchase flippers and a weight belt and that makes it a lot better and you can swim more natural.
You can switch to teleport mode, it's way easier then to grab the objects.
This looks sick, I really liked Freediver Triton Down so this looks like a great experience
I want this to be Subnautica VR pleaaaaaaaaaaase
How do you get this?
Is this on quest
You found Wilson.
w vr
Comparisons will be I feel more with Subnautica...
This is HORRIFYING i am forcing myself to play this soon and I am genuinely afraid.
