Also I don't really use internal RGB because my desk is designed to put the case below, which is SO much better spacing wise, but also means any internal RGB would 100% be a waste of electricity.

Almost no one is using RGB to run rainbow wave all the time. Most people have solid colors. Just nice being able to change it to whatever color you like.

I always pick parts based on price and performance first. Lights can come after, but I only end up using a single color for a unified theme.

I've never laugh this hard in y life. Ina is so relatable. Those peasantly RGB is indeed unnecessary. They could instead focus those energy oozing extra 10% gaming boost that'd have been much much better in my opinion.

ahh yes the power draw a LED takes we can probably calculate that .... lets see a strip of RGB leds is around 1.6 watts per foot assume maybe 3 feet for every RGB light actually in the PC so 15 cents a month in power running it 8 hours a day

Relatable. I would never consciously buy components with RGB and if they happen to have it I would disable it.
personally i think rgb on the pc is fine since you can just put the pc to the side, but rgb in keyboard or mouse.. now that's something that will always be in your line of vision and in my experience quite distracting indeed, hence i always keep keyboard lights off.
@@elemenopi4827 I do like to keep a solid RGB theme for my keyboard, with WASD set a different color. The solid colors help my typing, especially at night as I'm a 3rd-shifter. But that rainbow unicorn cycling stuff can fuck right off

I feel like most people who like RGB aren't using full on rainbow mode. It's just nice to be able to change the theme of your setup to different colors every now and then.
I agree. People might just like rgb for the option of changing their setup colors sometimes. For me, I use the rgb to change the layer colors so I know what layer my keyboard is at. But other than that, it’s a solid color.
I literally just stick with red on the left half of my keyboard and cyan on the right half starting from the Print Screen key column to my mouse. It’s just nice to have highlighted keys sometimes
Saying what you are saying is full on ignoring the complaint about RGB. Even Ina said it in this clip, its distracting. Going full rainbow mode does not make it less distracting, it increases it. I have a full rgb keyboard and I turned off all the lights because when im gaming I dont need a flashing rainbow full blast hitting my peripheral vision.
@@rallysport92 You are also missing our point. We were talking about why some people would like RGB and how we use it (since sometimes it's forced on us so might as well find a use). Besides RGB doesn't always equal to rainbow wave, it could just be a solid color.

Although, most RGBs I've seen never actually flash the lights but rather more like a static rainbow color. The varied colors feels like it gives a fun party vibe (like a disco or a bar) for gaming, so people get a "fun" mood, at least from my perspective.

I set my RGB to slow fading cyan, fits my room aesthetic
I usually let my RGB sit static when I'm playing a game and flashing when I'm AFK, but I get where she's going.
My thought: if I'm gonna be on my PC in the dark, having some background light to take the edge off the darkness would be nice. Being able to pick the color/style is also nice.
The background behind your monitor should aways be lighted up evenly, with a small lamp or strip of leds behind the monitor - otherwise your eyes will constantly try to adapt to the darkness, then to the brightness of the monitors, then back to the darkness, etc.
It will cause eye fatigue over time and possibly quickens the deterioration of your eyesight over months, it's a real health issue.
And just using the faint glow of RGB might not be enough or not light up the background evenly, I highly recommend getting that sorted if you do more than 4 hours of screen time per session.

As a certified gaming mouse user myself. I never ever turn on the RGB light few day after purchases, very rarely turned on Just to see things in the dark.
Turned off and never ever flip it on, even when my room is pitch dark.
i use a gaming mouse myself but thankfully the RGB is so minimal that you cant even notice if it is set up

I think its because most people who build a rgb gaming pc most watch youtube on it and its not that distracting when watching tv. The other thing is that you can set it to solid colors so for some people its a nice way to customize your pc to your own theme

But in addition to the distraction aspect, subjective preference for solids over flashing, and other parts of Ina's arguments, there's another personal reason.
I don't even know how to make RGB parts do the funkier colour patterns and shifts and whatnot.

I do miss the beige boxes of blandness. They always just sat back out of the way so you could game in piece without RGB blaring next to you. I especially loved those old Gateway computer cause they were white and you can pull off the covers, take them to the garage, and paint cow spots on them. No RGB, just cow spots.

And being a PC techie, fixing anyone elses PC when they blare RGB stuffs on their desk while having a room darker than underground caves can really mess up my eye a lot lmao
I agree with Ina. Never made sense to me. The one that always baffles me the most is headsets. It's on your head...you can't even see it. If it's wireless you're just losing battery life for no reason.
The thing is RGB made so much sense at first. If you built your own PC before the rgb era, you picked a single colour scheme and that was it. You wanted a black and red scheme which was very popular and now you wanted a different colour accent

if you were really into colour matching, you would've got a red accent on your mobo, graphics card and cases
Now you see lots of grey/white/black cases with no other colours because you can change the colour accent with a few clicks of your mouse.
It's for people who are worried how they look, while sitting on their computer in their room.
And that's not counting streamers, who do have to show their face/body so it makes sense to work on the appearances.
It's literally people picking up a headset, a keyboard or a mouse, over another, cheaper and/or better performing, simply because it looks "cooler" or more within the trends.
