I bought a 2007 Cadillac DTS Trim lll 3 months ago for 500 bucks. The guy thought the engine was blown and wouldn't hold any tranny fluid. I bought a new battery(100), oil change($40), Trans fluid change and filter($120) Found Trans leak at fluid cooler line adapter, bad o ring($15). The thermostat was bad($10) and radiator cap($10) both of these will make dts overheat by themselves. Plus replaced rear air shocks($60) for set from RockAuto. It has no check engine light on, does good on gas for V8 and drives so smooth and FAST! I LOVE THIS CAR!!! BOTTOM LINE is Noone did routine maintenence. This car was beat, drugg and left for dead. A little ROUTINE MAINTENENCE and $355 in parts. Oh yeah I did the work myself so like someone said earlier...... NOT A KIDS CAR!!

They’re nice looking cars with decent luxury interiors, very expensive when new, but mechanically the build quality is crap, at least on mine and other people I know that have these. I wouldn’t doubt that mid 80s American compact cars are worse because they were built to throw away after a few years

So this is a longer comment so let me apologize now..
    1. I’ve had a DTS now for like three years no major issues at all…I mean the thing leaks oil but anyone that has had a northstar engine knows it’s going to leak oil I think Caddy knew that because it holds like 7.5 quarts of that sht. But yeah I roll them all the time and there pretty inexpensive to fix to if you know a good mechanic anyway stay away from shops tho they’ll rip you off because they charge by the hour not the job and it takes a while to fix everything in this car because of how tight caddie crammed all that sht in there. Also never drive it with issue or lights on and sht when something breaks fix it and a DTS will last forever trust me. Oh one more thing there hard to sell but when you sell them you get your money back. Because people either hate Cadillacs or they love Cadillacs I’ve sold 4 and I’ve always made a profit. And I mean always…
Anyway I hope that helps someone out…

I've had mine since 2015. The only major problems i've had was the fuel pump and a power steering hose. It's important to follow the maintenance schedule on these cars and replacement parts should be OEM type only-no substitutions including the filters. Also this is not a car for shadetree mechanics or gresase monkey gutter shops. You'll need the GM dealer or professional shop with ASE certified technicians to properly maintain this car. These cars were not designed or built for frugal people on tight budgets. These were geared toward people with mean$.

But that the first real money I spent outside of normal maintenance and I hope the money I just spent is the last big money I put into the car. I have an 05 Acura with under 100k on the odometer, had to put over $2000 in it over about a year and a half. People don't understand that just because it's a certain name brand it doesn't mean it's good or bad necessarily. As a car ages things will break regardless of what brand you're driving. Also, if you buy a used car from a dealer and not from someone you know, you risk a lot because the previous owner may have treated the car badly.

Had the check engine light on Traction Control light and the oil pressure sensor light. My 2003 Cadillac Deville fuel injectors failed open. I burned up brakes in 5 miles with sudden unintended acceleration. Funny they blame SUA on floor mats. Hogwash ! The car only has 106K miles. Really like the ride in the spaciousness. It’s had a rough idle problem for some time do the vacuum leaks I thought. Then the car will die at a stoplight because it wouldn’t idle. Once I get the car restarted it took off like the Batmobile. What a nerve-racking journey.
I got the fuel injectors replaced cheaply with Chinese knock offs. The car idled fine at find it first, after replacing the fuel injectors. The car ran for two minutes and then died with a bang so I got out to see what might be going on. Hell the car was on fire. I got seven injectors correctly seated in the upper rail. One of them was Cockeyed gasoline was pissing out that fuel injector at the rate of 2 gallons in two minutes emptying the tank. What a carbeque. All these bullshit videos never worn you to check for gasoline leaks before starting the vehicle. Fortunately my neighbor came over and put out the fire with the extinguisher. I tried to put the fire out with the garden hose and made it much worse. Now I’ve got battery trouble. The tow truck driver killed the battery leaving the key in the on position. This happened a number of times taking the car to various mechanics. None of them could find the problem they wanted to replace the throttlebody. It never occurred to them to check the fuel injectors which are easy to access on this vehicle. Getting the fuel injectors off other vehicles is a nightmare. The fire may have damaged the electrical system. For sure they had to replace the fender liner. I’m holding off on replacing the splash shield under the bumper till I can get the car running. The fender liner was wrapped around the tire I had no choice. And the fender liner is relatively cheap. So despite taking towing the car to the mechanics who did nothing but bill me for useless fix what isn’t broke bullshit, I ended up having to fix myself. If the car hadn’t caught on fire I had it fixed. And it was really easy working on it. The guy from Chicago on UA-cam S. Main St. fixed a car A 2003 Cadillac Deville just like mine and found that the flu injector was stuck open flooding the engine. That was my clue that the mechanic was full of BS about the throttlebody.

Your wrong actually 2007•2011 were very good and a lot of there old major bugs were fixed. Like the head gasket failure issue was fixed gm used longer better head studs. The electronic issue is a gamble just like any other vehicle some are just an absolute common problem others are a hit or miss. As far as issues with injectors that’s not a common issue. Overall by the looks of it your dts didn’t receive proper routine maintenance the body shows she was treated fair about it.. if you properly maintain a dts and don’t beat them you’ll make 200,000+ guaranteed on a factory motor and if you service the tranny every 30k you’ll also hit about 200,000. The only issues the 2007+ have that are common are water pump, or the plastic heater inlet t and hoses crack and get brittle.. fuel lines and transmissions lines are a issue with age.. and every v8 North Star are about guaranteed with age and mileage to experience oil pan gasket leaks. Overall I recommend a dts if your buying look into how it was treated and go after one that had only 1 maybe 2 owners tops ones that were owned by granny or pops those are the ones that get babied but maintained because they got the bucks to maintain em.

Easy fix part was around 5$ then new gasket ,filters and new transmission fluid and it back to being like new. Got the car with 95k and now just hit 100k .

2008 DTS Luxury 3. Engine is a jewel. Suspension was fucked. I fixed all of that. Amazing car and want another one when this one dies. 96k miles now so I have a long time to go. People love it and ask me about it all the time. You don't see them with all options including sunroof very often. Just maybe a base model here and there. Just misunderstood. Also sounds like somebody just didn't know how to correctly fix the problem. These issues can happen on any car including any of the older Cadillac's and older engines. This one just turned out to be one that needed the right person to fix. There's always going to be some bad examples here and there like anything else. The cars themselves are excellent, but it doesn't help when whoever is working on the car, doesn't know what they're doing. This is so typical and happens so much on all different types of vehicles. I hope this one ended up in the right new owner.

I don't think he knows how to take care of a car and I've had a DTS for the last several years. And boy I'll tell you I don't think I can find a better car. Matter of fact I bought one for my daughter and she just absolutely loves it and so does her family. So you know, I've heard people say that you blew up an engine by using some sort of brand of motor oil or you cause accidents by using cheap and unsafe tires. All kinds of things can happen to a car but this guy absolutely has no idea what he's talking about. I had no idea how to look after or follow maintenance procedures of a car.
