- In this tutorial, I'll show you how to install DLSS Enabler & FSR 3 Frame Generation mod to increase the performance in Horizon Forbidden West. Tested on a GTX 1060 6GB but should work on other GPU's as well.

Extract in the main folder of the game (where the .exe is) and replace the files if needed.

DLSS Enabler works with HAGS switched off too (some people argue that enabling HAGS can introduce stuttering in some games, personally I didn't notice any difference)
You can probably get some extra FPS in DLAA mode if you tell DLSS Enabler to rely on FSR 2.1 upscaler as a backend (it defaults to XeSS in case of GTX and RDNA2/3 cards). For example, from my tests in a different game (CP 2077) the FPS increased from 80 to 90 in the benchmark and DLSS ultra performance setting.

fast sync does not work in games on dx12\Vulkan.
This mod works fine for me on 1080p and I don't have any hud problem, but it slows down when the screen is 2k
Because, unfortunately, we can say that since the mod doesn’t work, you just raise the maximum settings or change the resolution and these drawn frames will feel the same way the mod is controlled without it

HOW TO FIX buggy interface like quest text or health bar it shakes whenever walk or run OR MOVING MY CAMERA other than that its magical to get that much fps with smooth gameplay its actually works.
I didn't encounter this problem when I made my test. Did you put Exclusive Fullscreen? Try motion blur OFF maybe. Just some suggestion
@DeityGamingPower i put everything same and now i know what causes it aspect ratio when i set auto it works no shakes but not feel smooth even 60fps but when i set 16.9 aspect ratio it shakes but feel smooth 60fps

@@dogukankalkan8912 Did you change it from the main menu? If so, try changing it in a game session. Mine was always crashing when I changed the settings from the main menu.
Health bar and quest icon keeps ghosting/lagging plz help!!!!!
There is slight ghosting on some UI elements even on 4000 series cards with proper implementation. I'm going to doubt there will be any meaningful fix with this being a mod

Should be, as stated on the mod page. I tried it on my RTX 3070 and it worked. Follow the steps in my video. If you don't see any boost in FPS after the steps in my video. With my RTX 3070, at first I downloaded the DLSS 3.6.0 but didn't see an augmentation in the FPS but when I downloaded the DLSS_FG 3.6.0, it worked.
I uninstalled it for my RTX 3070 because the game was not as smooth as native and I had no problems to achieve 60FPS. Worked good with my GTX 1060 since it cannot even achieve 60FPS with fsr performance and the lowest preset. Try it to see if you like it. Hope it helped!
I have Acer predator g5-793 with gtx1060 6gb and now with this mode is completely playable with above 60fps. Thank you so much sharing with us
The only problem I've noticed is that I can't enable v-sync or g-sync on the monitor and the game doesn't feel as smooth as should be. I will be glad if you know how to enable v-sync in the options menu because in my case stays off and I cant switch it.
You're welcome. Turn on V-sync in Nvidia control panel. It should be working!

@@DeityGamingPower Yes I tried it. I noticed that if frame gen is turned on you can't enable v-sync in the game. Without frame gen its working.
Frame gen does not really work, it will show fps increase in rivatuner but it's worse than without it. It's a placebo effect.

a combination of DLSS + FG or FSR2 + FG, afterburner shows increased fps but in reality the game is just very stuttery, gpu usage is not even fully utilized 100%
i find that enabling only frame gen, and using TAA can improve smoothness, but the image is very soft, turning sharpness up does not solve problem
the best solution is to wait for dev to fully implement FSR3 to the game
@@linkedparadise i think in this case, frame gen is broken because of nvidia reflex, it makes the frametime graph jittery, in other games this type of mod works fine.
using reflex ON is like playing without Frame gen and reflex...
True only works well of you're getting 45+ fps without using, so it doesn't really make sense with low spec gpus. Also the responsiveness takes a really bad hit, it's like sometimes you gotta spam the same button twice or thrice for it to respond.
Frame gen is only worth if you have a 60+ REAL FPS base, otherwhise latency is terrible.
Is that really 60 fps? From the video, it doesn't feel like it.
I definitively feel the boost in FPS but It's not like native 60FPS (Don't feel as smooth). The best for smoothness is to active only FG and DLAA without upscaling method but sometime dips under 60.
The GTX 1060 cannot even achieve 60FPS (1080p) on FSR performance mode even with the lowest settings lol. Still feel better with the mod than native with the 1060. We have to choose our poison!
Unfortunately no, Russian bloggers have already compared this a long time ago and the controls feel absolutely the same as they did before these mods, everyone says as one that it’s just a drawn number>

Did you change it from the main menu? If so, try changing it in a game session. Mine was always crashing when I changed the settings from the main menu.

Tried this patch on a 3070ti. Not much of gain other than some 10 to 15 fps. Also that FG3 button doesnt presumably make any much of a difference. Also earlier when i tried the mod it totally screwed my game down to 30fps locked from a solid 45 to 55 fps. Then i went in to nvidia control panel. Disable the Vsync and Max fps option as was guided in the mod. That sort of fixed it and brought it back to 50 plus fps. All in all the mod is not much of what it claims to be. So if youre absolutely dont want it dont do it. And also i forget to make backup copies of all the files copied over. So if you want to mod it atleast make sure to create a backup copy of the files.
Update : So i tried running the game with Frame Gen off and voila it fixed the game. In technical details when the FG3 was on the card wud be restricted and wudnt cross 170~ish watts causing bad frames and very inconsistent preformance around 20 to 50 fps. Now with FG3 off the card is back to normal will reach 220~ish watts without any problem and thats where i have manually restricted it with afterburner. Thus the more power results in greater frames smoother gameplay easily above 40 fps and sometimes even above 60 fps averaging around in 50s fps. Also the card is operating in between 180~ish to 220 watts and is giving superb preformance temps around 55 max. So somethings wrong with Frame Gen altogether. Here was my all honest and straightforward review thank you and have a great time.
The mod works perfectly, the problem is that you tried modding dlss on a gpu that already supports dlss

no but there might be a mod so you can use dlss 3.5
@vrlsgamingasmr I tried it on my RTX 3070 too and I downloaded the DLSS Enabler anyway because it included the DLSS-g to FSR 3 FG mod in it, so I just took the "dlssg_to_fsr3_amd_is_better.dll" and "version.dll" and "nvngx.dll" to the Horizon Forbidden west directory.
Don't forget to download the DLSS and frame gen 3.6.0 Update mod too: www.nexusmods.com/horizonforbiddenwest/mods/20
*Download the file "DLSS_FG 3.6.0" and not the "DLSS 3.6.0"
It didn't work when I tried the "DLSS 3.6.0" with the RTX 3070 but after downloading the "DLSS_FG 3.6.0" file, Frame generation was now available to turn ON.

How do I disable it completely, after uninstalling it, the game doesn't detect my original graphics card
I just delete everything from the mod and it work fine after. Maybe you forgot something or delete something you shouldn't? If your on steam try to "verify the files" to check if something missing. If nothing works, just uninstall and reinstall the game. I personally didn't have any problem deleting the mod an it played perfectly after.

Maybe, I didn't try it. If you try it, I recommend using it only in single player mode. DO NOT USE THIS MOD IN MULTIPLAYER GAMES AS ANTI-CHEAT SOFTWARE MAY TREAT THIS AS A CHEAT ATTEMPT AND BAN YOUR ACCOUNT

Don’t forget about the scripts, which have the potential to overclock the video card, which will add from 5 to 10 fps real and much more pleasant.

I got it to work on my 1650TI and it's weird. Definitely not smooth at all. The burning shores DLC is just too demanding for my card.
Can you tell how is the normal gameplaoy of forbidden west on 1650ti. I havr the same gpu
@@aliyaannasir9000 For the main game it's roughly the same as a desktop 1650. Maybe a 2-3 less. So 30fps, medium settings at 900p is doable. The card is not powerful enough for the burning shore dlc. No matter the settings I was getting about 15-20 fps and it look ugly as hell.
@@shadowflare7230use fsr 3 mod brotha. i also have 1650 but i use the mod and it gives me solid 40-50fps in medium settings even in dlc. do note tho, there is hud flickering. but the game is very playable.

@@thisfeelingcalleddespair 7800xt; I only gained like 2 fps on quality; I used it mostly just to see what dlss looked like since it's understandable dlss wouldn't work so well on amd. It's cleaner than fsr, but the problem with fsr that made me turn it off was still there: most enemy projectiles don't get upscaled and look really bad

edit it just contains the 3.7.0 dlss.dll file and nothing else, is this a paid one? normally you need to disable stuff.

@@DeityGamingPower its working now, in your video you downloaded dlss 3.6.0 not dlss_fg 3.6.0. but sadly i dont know the fps is boosting reaching 50-45 fps when frame generation on but it feels like still 30fps or maybe below.
@@ramdanrivanto8855 Yeah I made the video before the mod was updated to dlss_fg 3.6.0.., so it worked before but now we have to download the dlss_fg 3.6.0 like you did. For the feel of the FPS, I can't do anything about that. People says that if you play with a controller, it's better. I know it's not ideal but it's the best we can do with old GPU's trying to boost FPS with frame gen mod. We have to pick our poison I guess.

For me, FG technology is not suitable for gaming at all
Even in offline games
The input delay is unbearable
use a xbox controller or ps4 / ps5, and you will not feel delay.
The rule of thumb is that Frame Generation should not be used if your GPU cannot produce at least 30FPS on its own, because FG doubles the amount of frames, while keeping the original 30FPS latency in such example (or even making it a bit worse).
If you get less than 30FPS without FG, you need to reduce the image quality settings in order to get some extra performance first.
@@aargoth82 Good point. FG should be used to increase already high fps instead of making the game playable. That's also one of the reason only the 40 series cards have that feature, it simply wouldn't work well on 20 series or even 30 series.
After some tests with 240hz freesync. Input delay is gone after you hit stable 120 fps+. Probably because you generate at least from 60.
@@unfunnyperson2101 It literally helps a lot with every RTX series graphics card, for example the Nukem mod would hardly have received nearly 225,000 unique downloads if people hadn't found the mod useful. and for example in Horizon Forbidden West, the mod works really well as long as you only download the latest DLSS, I use that mod myself in Cyperpunk, Horizon Forbidden West and Allan wake 2 and plague tale requiem, which in every game gets about +-30fps more, and I don't even have any ghosting or flicker problems, except for Plague tale requiem, and even there the problem is so small that the extra fps easily replaces it.. Also, the input lag does not increase significantly. an indication of nothing, it's an indication of how NVIDIA lies to its customers, literally a few mod creators made the feature work on cards where the manufacturer claims that the feature can't work... Maybe there wouldn't be literally hundreds of these videos on the subject if people hadn't really noticed any help in using the mod besides that, the mod is so ridiculously easy to install and remove that even a child can do it, so no one loses anything by trying whether the mod works or not..at least for me, the mod has significantly improved the gaming experience RTX 3060oc v2 12gb card

I don't know, only tested on Nvidia card. In the description of the mod, it say that it is compatible with AMD card that support DX12, so you can try it.
