Look into Enerlux windows. They are fiberglass and very efficient as well. They offer double or triple pane.

There was some discussion of passive solar for heating. For this you will want a window with a high solar heat gain coefficient (SHGC). You will want to pay attention to the risk of overheating in the summer. To prevent this you can add shading devices on the exterior above the window (i.e. an "eyebrow") which can be designed to allow winter sun in and block summer sun (due to the difference in sun angle in the different seasons). Windows facing south have the most potential for solar heat gain. Windows facing west have the most risk for overheating because the gain comes in the warm part of the day and it's hard to shade unwanted sun (to prevent overheating) due to low sun angle in both summer and winter.

We purchased ours through Doorwin. Triple pane tilt/turn all black aluminum, one 16 foot slider, one 8 foot slider and 4 garage doors…plus shipping $26K.

I'm wondering if the company is European Architecture Supply. I know they also will source european windows.

My only criticism about Alpen is their reviews show poor customer service and quality control.

I've come to believe that there are only negative reviews. Owners who have high end homes built for them won't take the time to submit positive reviews. I recommend searching youtube on "Alpen Window"

You don’t know what a lift and slide door? They aren’t new at all. I have second hand embarrassment.
