As a Canadian, I can normally tell what the IMPs are meant to correspond to in terms of typical Canadian meals, at home or from a restaurant. This one though? No idea. Glad you enjoyed it, but I can't think of anywhere in Canada that eats this normally.
Happy Sunday RR. Great review, I think I would enjoy this MRE. Only drawback, I wanted turkey strips to be a tad bit bigger. Have a great rest of your weekend. See you next week.
I said this in another review of the IMP but the reason their rations taste better, is because their rations are not really trying to do the same mission as the US MRE. The US MRE is specifically designed not just for more efficient packing for field operations but field operations where no other food resupply is possible. This is why the US MRE is rated to be dropped from 90 ft without a parachute and to last for a whole month at 120F, which is otherwise impossible for most food. The US MRE is made so that if you had to live off of rations that had to be kicked off of a blackhawk because it's too dangerous to land anything (we even have a term for this, it's called "speedball" or ESBS), and then you had to leave the rations baking out in the sun until sundown (because it's too dangerous), you would still have the food you need, a variety of food, and even a heater and condiments to make it suck less to be under those conditions. This applies to the humanitarian daily ration too. The canadian, and french, and spanish, and other rations that taste better, have a significantly lower shelf life. Even things like the kitkat bar in this IMP, would definitely degrade rapidly even at 80F, the US MRE's default storage temperature which it's rated for 5 years at. The IMP and other rations would be great to trade for, but without refrigeration under harsh conditions, give me the US MRE every single time.
@mikey121981 this even applies to our heaters Other heaters are "better" because they get much hotter for longer, but our heaters are much thinner, use a tiny amount of water, and the shorter action time is easier to dispose of in a hurry. It also means your coffee or hot chocolate cools to below scalding faster. These things matter more in an active warzone vs in an exercise on national soil.
@DD-hz3ts Thanks again for elaborating. Good example of how creating gear/tools for exercises is not the same as for real life scenarios during wartime.
imp poutine is the worst. i make it at home maybe twice a week and the canadian version cant compare. im french canadian and each region has their own take on it. mine has shredded beef, fresh green onions and a little cheddar on top, plus served with sour cream on the side. cant blame the can govt but this is the best they could do but the sodium levels are crazy so it seems.
@@ricksmith7631 I'm originally from Canada, London Ontario specifically and I've traveled through Quebec and Atlantic Canada a good bit so I've had some of the regional variations. After living in Arkansas for the past two years your description of your version has me craving poutine, I'm going to have to make some! I'm sure the American side of my family will love it too since it's got a lot in common with how Southern food is made. Thanks, hope you have a great night!
Sounds like you best serve in the Canadian Army since you like their food so much better. I'd say join their Navy but it only consists of a Tugboat and a Sea Otter.

@@Jaden1673 100%. You used to get beer offshift when out to sea in the Canadian navy, but that was cancelled a few years ago on active duty ships. They still carry beer in the fridge, but beer is now only served when at anchor. Sad.
"In case you were wondering, that's made from 100% sustainably sourced cocoa." Well I certainly wasn't. And bless you for believing what a giant corporation puts on the wrapper.
"Pain Hamburger" would be a good name for a band.
Hardees. Their flat poor cheese burger looks NOTHING like the nice juicy burger in the advertising pics. A blatant case of false advertising. 😮
That and...." Mechnically separated chicken!"
@@lancerevell5979 Reminds me of the scene in Falling Down.
I’m a dancer and my stage name is Biscuits Brown from the British rations.

I bet it's Manitoba somehow.
Looks like a great IMP to me! Excellent video RR!!
Awesome review Guys

I appreciate the Kershaw knife skyline mention, its one knife that is the backbone of most collectors. not fancy but trusty.
I like this menu, I'd be happy to get it again. I have a review of this menu on my channel but it has ben a few years ago
I've tried rations from 14 nations never a Canadian one! I gotta find one
Dang brother, you said screw that bag and tore that sucker right open! I have every bag I've opened neatly categorized by year in a box. Great video
and? whats his is his
“It’s not really thick but has some thickness to it…” me too chocolate drink…me too.
Initially, I thought “cheese toast” was a Canadian MRE menu item.
Couple of guys crushing an IMP. Nice!
I pray that RTI doesn't start selling Ethiopian MREs.
your one comment 'served over rice.' i think is the way to go. love oranged chicken / general tso's.
Nice review, I really liked this one, but it seems not many people do, but it was a bit sweet.
I was lucky enough to get a lot of 5 Canadian IMP's of ebay, they are quite hard to find here in the UK
They're quite hard to find anywhere. We eat our IMPs. :)
Who is your "guest host"?
This Canadian MRE looks pretty good. 😎👍
Such a strange menu item name. “Turkey strips” as a name needs to be focus grouped. Call it something else lol
anyone that had the ham lung or plain would disagree egg omlet so rubbery you could bend it
One of my favs, the worst one was bacon and hash browns. Imo

Are Canadian MREs available for purchase in the US?
A 10 day old gas station roller dog would beat a US mre
Maple mint 🍁ehh😂😂😂
I suspect every recruit makes the mistake at least once, especially at night.
I’m surprised they don’t have gender neutral rations

Not a fan of 2 reviewers.
I'm not a fan either, neither of them seemed comfortable.

Nope sure haven't. Still smart enough to know the Canadians aren't the country to join the Navy.

Huzzah!! Mix the drinks off camera! I am so fed up of watching people mixing yet another cup of coffee/bevearage-they are all the same!
Damned shrieking voice!
Indeed!!!
More like a Canadian Diabetes IMP.
Pain is French for bread.
He said that in the video.
