We have wandered, we have laughed, we have cried.........we have song the songs of our ancestors. We will find the 13th colony and we will have peace.....so say we all!
still the best TV series ever put on air, even better than Game of Thrones, it's a class all of it's own, thanks in large part to the music by Bear McCreary. Definitely want Farewell Apollo to be played at either my wedding or funeral.
Few songs can lift us to heaven. Few films stay with us forever. But this music and this story are the stuff myths are made of, and they bring us a little paradise to this earth. Hauntingly beautiful. I thank God. I’ve been alive to hear the song and witness the tale.
This was hands down, the best show on SyFy. The Adams suite always reminded me of my dad. The feeing of the son wanting to ensure his father was proud of him. The father wanting the best for his son, and being proud of the man he became
I've seen series twice. After convincing my wife to watch game of Thrones, I'm going to invite her to watch battlestar galactical with me and see if she doesn't agree that it too has the best elements that game of Thrones has. Especially the MUSIC! I love Bear Mcreary! Put him up there with the likes of John Williams, James Horner, Gianchino, just listening to this as I write my heart is aching. So much serotonin!
Yeah, as an Irish person finding that the series had such incredible Celtic influences made it incredibly evocative and made me think of home. Its very similar to Outlander's scenery and soundtrack which the composer for BSG also worked on!
I haven't even watched this show, but the soundtrack is beautiful. (Said the same thing about Babylon 5 half a year ago, now I own the DVD set, watched everything, cried at the ending and can recite all episode titles from memory. Thinking of giving BSG a shot next...)
I watched Babylon 5 as a kid and I loved it, what a masterpiece. The ending made me sob uncontrollably too. I can tell you that BSG is just as amazing if not better than B5 and it will touch the entire spectrum of your emotions. In no small part to Bear's INCREDIBLE soundtrack that brings such immense power to the show.
@@DeltaV2TLI Turns out the BSG ending made me sob too (I finished a few days ago)... "so much life" was a punch in the gut. They took some of the best elements of Sleeping in Light and put their own twist on them. I do still prefer B5 regarding plot and story (and because I could do without all the seduction on BSG), but when it comes to atmosphere and emotion BSG is just as good. Both had great composers :) Every time Adama breaks down it breaks my heart a little bit, and damn season 4 was hard on him. Glad I gave it a shot!
I started crying as soon as I read the words: "An Easterly view". Bear's use of sitar, electric cello, etc., was amazing, but the Irish stuff just kills me every time.😅
@@johnmcternan4157 Oh, I saw a comment about an inability to subscribe, and thought this must be a closed channel. I'd love to sub/be hosted, lol. Thx.✌💗
The full concert recording video was never released as far as I know and I searched long and hard before putting up this, Prelude to War and Apocalypse. These 3 are the only ones available. Bear McCreary said that there would be a dvd released someday with the whole concert; but that was 6 years ago so I won't hold my breath, Its a travesty to be honest that we can't hear it. I can't imagine what Disapora Oratio sounded like at this event! The entire orchestra played these songs: I. A Distant Sadness II. Prelude to War III. Passacaglia IV. Cult of Baltar V. Baltar’s Dream VI. Among the Ruins VII. The Signal VIII. Apocalypse IX. Wander My Friends X. Kara’s Coordinates XI. Diaspora Oratorio XII. The Shape of Things to Come
I was hoping maybe you had the whole TV recording as this concert was recorded and broadcasted on a Spanish TV channel. I guess UA-cam will have to do. Thanks though.
I had the entire show uploaded on UA-cam years ago, until I received a kindly threatening mail from some Fimucite guy asking me to withdraw it, so I had to comply to avoid any legal shit coming over me. They chose to keep this epic concert rottening for years in some forgotten vault of their archives rather than to let everybody enjoy it. Pathetic.
The modern BattleStar Galactica was perfect in terms of giving the series a solid fundament (though thanks to the deepness and straight acting it would have been perfect even without any soundtrack); And it is wonderful how he used different instruments and arrangements of the same themes over time, to show off the evolution of the story itself and the characters in special. None the less, in terms of Punch, Glory, Tragic, etc. it is in no way a competitor to Stu Phillips original work for the 77/78 series, who cramped all the possible emotions so tightly compressed into just 90 seconds of variance, which got even better in the OST standard maxi-length version. Both can exist aside. Both are supreme to any emotional being. Both are just in mirroring humans souls core. P.s.: Maybe, i am turned off at times of McCrearys version, because of the 'Titanic'-like ballad parts. You see, i am whiny on a level that's not measurable anymore. I hope many will be touched in the future by these works. In my personal opinion, i think it's comparable as of impact as was Borodins 'Prince Igor'/'Polovtsian Dances' and i ever wonder why the soundtracks miss the happy to tinker parts as for example Dvoraks 'Humoresque' plays off so greatly. But as i told, this is whining in the top-ranks. Just listen to it and be showered by emotions.
The new BSG show was great but the theme is not very distinctive. The original BSG theme was way better. I almost fell asleep to this in some parts. The original makes you want to stand up and fight Cylons. I fell asleep to this twice😑😑😴😴😴
Best Sci-Fi show I ever watched.
So say we all if you still here in 2020

I came, I listened, and I cried, just like more than ten years ago when I first watched the show.
I watched this series so many times, and yet still every time Adama takes Roslin for that flight on the surface, I cry.
We have wandered, we have laughed, we have cried.........we have song the songs of our ancestors. We will find the 13th colony and we will have peace.....so say we all!

After all those years still feel the same! What a show, what a music!
After 5 years I am binging watching it all again. Enjoying as much as the first time. BSG is still my favourite

Most modern stories seem to be about the degradation of father and son, this series was the reverse, starts estranged, ends positively wholesome.
THE BEST SHOW ON TV EVER! BEST MUSIC FOR TV EVER!
I was going to say the same
Bsg is life...
Its everything you would want in a tv show
And the ass bubbles won't bring it back
Adama-Roslin theme always makes me tear up.
The romantic plot in the Twilight series was of poorer quality.
It’s extraordinarily beautiful but I can’t bear hearing it because it reminds me so poignantly of my last relationship.
Sometimes you have to roll the hard six. Great performance.

@TruthWiz same. I remember years ago, trying to get my friends to watch it. No one would. I couldn't express how it was do meaningful and GOOD!
I want this played st my wake one day...when I pass.. in the future
Bear makes the most beautiful music in the world
I still become goosebumps - what a Genius Bear McCreary is.
This was farking awesome performance
The best song played with classic instruments I ever heared.
Oh my God, this is incredible!! Feel privileged to watch this.
So much...life.
My emotions are all over the place listening to this; beautiful 💕

how they can play without crying :D

Un serie, que no sólo era de ciencia ficción, iba más allá, explorando el espiritu humano, ya no hacen guiones así.
