Dale loved the video. Will probably call later on and ask some questions. Have a dog that is a little over 2 now and starting him with me everywhere I go. Got him calmed down and listening now. Hope I have not messed him up but he seems to be doing real good . All I need is a companion and to find animals on drags. Trap dog is a lot different than hog dogs. We only have 16 of them.
You will never be the best Wildlife Observer/Trapper/Hunter/Woodsman etc. until you learn to watch a dog on a trapline. Like anything, it can be OVER evaluated but watch and learn from the domestic animal you take with you. The best bird hunters I ever new (when I was in my teens) had 2 commands that their dogs knew - COME and NO. The rest of the time they let the dog hunt and WATCHED. Same with a fur dog. Don't ask how many times I have doubted mine only to be fooled by their savvy!!! Like Game Cams they will make a liar out of you until you learn their signals. My Take ............. the mike
You're absolutely right Mike. I just let her do her thing. I've learned a hell of a lot from my dogs over the years. Thank you for watching. I appreciate it
Dale one last question once you have chosen a pup and they've had there puppy shots distemper and rabies is there any other vaccines you would recommend
Just finished up a 3 day seminar on wolf trapping/hunting and they all said a dog is so helpful. Its on my list to get, just another excuse to get a dog lol
Any good working breed Derrick. I've had fox terriers and Jack Russell, border collie , and now Patterdale. I tried a jackabee jack Russell/ beagle cross 1 time. Never again! The others were all fine dogs
@ferengiprofiteer9145 yes. It's the luck of the draw with dogs. But there are certain breeds that can put the luck in your favor. But a counterfeit is still possible
I run way to many blind sets but will take my dog in first trip to have a look. Most places guys would have 6 or 8 sets I will put 50 to 100 traps in the ground if a preditor walks across the place they had better walk ligjt odds are they are not leaving
I Brock my hound on conibear buckets by wiring the springs where they would only close halfway, put some baloney in for bait only took once, left it set for next too days never put her head in it again.
Love my trap line dog shes comeing up on 2yrs old in november thanks for sharing Mr Dale

Thank you Butch. Glad you enjoyed it and it was helpful for you. Thank you for watching too
Dale for someone just getting ready to pick a pup do you have a preference on male or female?
Butch I prefer females myself. They tend have more brains usually than the males. And I've seen females that were more gritty than males at times too
Dale one last question once you have chosen a pup and they've had there puppy shots distemper and rabies is there any other vaccines you would recommend
No buddy I never give em anything else.
Loving these videos
Thank you Christopher. Glad you like them

Ha, yeah dogs are a crap shoot and you can't see what you rolled for at least 2 years.
@ferengiprofiteer9145 that's right. I've been very blessed when it comes to having good dogs
@@billingsleybrandtrappinglu1531 Us too, but we had a curse here and there.
