I wore one of these for 21 years in the Navy working the flight deck. Never failed me. I did have to replace the band several times but the watch itself is a monster.
Yep - by far my favourite choice for day to day wear. It’s nice to have selection when it comes to formal watches and good lookers - but the 5610 is the only watch I really need to own.
I would agree, but the newer (?) GW5600 has more functionality in the same size case. It’s also solar, but adds Bluetooth, while still keeping Multiband 6. It also shows current time while using stopwatch and/or timer functions. Yes, I have both if these and still wear my 5610, but love the 5600 just a little more.
What a coincidence, I'm wearing the GWM5610U today. Such a versatile watch and many great features that could be added to the list (you focused on the right ones). Despite it's size somehow it fits great on my 6.25 inch wrist. As Eliazer said in the comments before, don't really need another G-Shock as this does it all. I had a GA-2100 but ended up selling it because it was a bit too big for me, as the things it can do, aren't as good as the GWM5610U, which I found I was wearing more often anyway.
Honestly any g shock square is a win in anyones watch collection in my opinion, the only thing I wish is that I got my G Shock in the tin rather than a standard Casio box (G Shock branded of course) with the stand.
Been using this watch for the past 8 years, battery version with Bluetooth. Till this day I never change the battery yet. Super Tank built watch! Definitely no stress at all, no need to charge, no complicated set up.
I love my G Shocks and F91Ws. I wear them at the gym, when I run or when I do yard work. Unfortunately I'm too shallow to choose them outside the house over my Submariner or Speedmaster.
I have one of these. I eventually stopped wearing it regularly. It's still in my collection, though. The one thing I haven't liked about it is that the tower that sends the atomic time signal is in Colorado and I'm in New Jersey. That's made it hard to get the time to sync. Not great when that's half of what you bought the watch for. Right now I'm wearing a GBD-800. No solar, but it's about half the price and it syncs the time with my phone.
A great watch. A superb review. They have now brought out a U version which has a few extra features. For outside the US, the date can be formatted in the more familiar way….. 25.12 for Christmas, for instance. Also in different settings, the time can still be viewed in the top right window. A downside for some is that the electro luminescent display has now been dropped on favourite of an led, but apparently they will last longer.
I have a coupe of squares. And I love them, I might not wear them, but I love them. And occasionally I find myself looking at more variations. They're just so gosh darned fun
I thought it was an interesting & informative video, thumbs up &/or kudos. I got into the Casio G-Shocks around 2017 basically for receiving an AWG model for Xmas. Saw it spin up to life when I took it out of the package and was immediately amazed and hooked, especially for the solar and auto updating models. Considering that Casio has 40 years of history and evolution, even now when I look back, I wish I had information like this & options for some of the models that you outlined, years earlier. Thanks again.
You have reached both the horological zenith and nirvana at the same time with this watch. A watch that never needs setting, never needs charging (or winding), is the perfect size and doesn't cost the earth. That Rolex on your wrist is looking like it's just not trying.
I love g-shocks. My 5610 was eventually dethroned (dewristed?) by my GA800. It's a plain (no solar, no atomic, no sensors) analog-digital combo that is very legible, unlike many of the others. Standard 3 hand setup, positive LCD, and the light button at the 6 o'clock position. I swapped to the 5600 style strap as the stock strap did not curve to fit my 6.75" wrist.
Yes, I have rangeman, mud man, and few "less expensive" models, but also that one, the best watch! Only problem is I wear Apple Watch for few years, now Ultra, and i cant withouth ultra, because of payment, notifications etc. and always feel sorry to sit that great watch in drawer
Agree the only watch you need the best of the best....but don't muck about with it ........keep it standard. I have all the predictable prestige brands but this is the watch I wear every day..
As an owner of this watch i concur with you that this is one of the... if not the best watch out there. i do not care what the watch snobs say or do, but yes this watch gets respect, i feel that those who throw shade towards the 5610, and did it in public, might soon be flogged ;) The value is amazing...these are the facts, and can not be disputed.
Definitely one of the best, I have a black out one and it eats the GA2100 for breakfast . The GA2100 is 90% fashion The other is retro class , a totally rugged tool , band 6 solar charge , yes its quartz but to get all that Tec in a automatic it would be so heavy and probably cost 250,000 , Its exactly what it needs to be and exactly what it has to be to be a perfect watch.
This is what you get, if you want a WATCH. An accurate, independently usable, durable function-monster that is wearable, looks fine and has an attractive price-tag. It's not a "timepiece", it's smarter than most smart-watches and it just works. One of the great products out there!
I have a garmin fenix 5s (sapphire coating) and it's great. Got it when I was big into running but not I don't care so much about stats. Just want a rugged watch to tell the time and date maybe moon phase or tides could be a fun bonus but care not for the smart watch features at all. Once my garmin battery dies even though I can replace it, maybe I'll just get a simple g shock. thanks for the video.
100% agreed! I own this 5610 in exactly this and the black display version and for me it's also the BEST G-Shock you can get! Classic design, all the functions you'll ever need and... basically the only watch you'll ever need. At least it theory ;-)
Radio control would be nice to have. Having an accurate phone clock actually makes the inaccuracy very apparent and it bothers me whenever I had to set it up every year or so
I have the same Rangeman, but for the squared G-shock, that one you have is outdated, I have the Gw-5000U-1JF with the screw back. Get the GW-M5610U with the updated module.
Since we don't get Radio control transmissions, I obviously prefer my 5600 with the 3461 module (bluetooth). Thanks to the awesome app it also works incredibly well as a travel watch. My favorite G shock style by far... with 6900 coming a close second :)))
My dad promised me a gshock but never got me one finally after 6 years of waiting I finally got one and it's a monster he got me 2 of the same model and so far mo matter what I do it still looks new after a wipe
Hello. I really think the Gw m 5610 was the best gshock... but just after i buy the gw 5600 e. I have to say it s a bit better in term of colour, softer bracelet , and the non solar screen that is no ” translucid”
I have the GWM5610 and it is a cool watch, but the strap is kinda ugly, so I replaced it with the NATO strap and that made the whole combo too bulky for everyday use. After some searching I decided to try the original Mudman G-9000-1V and for me it is a far better looking and functional watch, with 2 stopwatches and a much more advanced countdown timer that are great features to use. It also kinda looks better and is not much bigger than the 5610.
I don't own a G-Shock, nor have I in the past. Not sure why. I do have a "Casio Royale" & have owned other Casios & Timex digitals before. Someday, I may get a G-Shock.
I "dare" to say that the newest, updated, improved and upgraded model Casio G-Shock model GW-M5610U is even better in many aspects!... details and comparation are plenty on UA-cam, Google...etc
Fair but the Rangeman is bullet proof with a bunch of features. Get some NATO strap adapters and a set of bull bars. That Rangeman can go through hell and back.
I will always preach from the book of 5610 to anyone that asks "what's the best watch out there?" ... and even to some that don't... regardless of what's on my wrist. While wearing certain, let's say, very recognizable brands, that's gotten me some weird looks.
That brick is awesome but... ...everybody can buy it even the person not familiar with watch culture at all. Just add awarness about G-Shocks (cool and tough). Don`t get me wrong I owe one but full steel version. Why ? I love to be a watch collector not because of wear watches. I love to talk about them as well and nobody would start a conversation with me about watches when see resin G-Shock. I wouldn`t. I rather choose some SEIKO 5 in that price range to share my passion with somebody.
Tough Solar doesn’t mean you don’t need to replace the battery sadly. They top off lower and lower over time. So its more like replace in 12-15 years instead of 5-10 while also worrying about it temporarily dying in between. Learned this the hard way buying older used Gs.
Great video as usual 👍 check out as an alternative update of this one: Citizen CB5914-89X My Favorit right now 😊👌 (Analog, Solar, Radio, Sapphire, 20bar..) great design
I have the all black BB5600 and it's the biggest POS ever and Casio gives the worst service. It was broken from the beginning, fogging up from the inside when my wrist got warm. I had to send it in, wait 6 weeks for it to be 'repaired' and had to pay for the shipping. Got it back, still had the same problem. I wrote Casio again, and they want me to send it in and pay shipping again. I don't have another watch but need one for work every day (infantry) and I don't see why I should buy a second one while they take 6 weeks to fix a problem that is 100% on them and their low quality product.
This watch has a flawless and it's not the LED light, it's the volume of the alarms. It's fucking low and i can barely hear it. Please introduce a feature to tune up and down the volume
I wore one of these for 21 years in the Navy working the flight deck. Never failed me. I did have to replace the band several times but the watch itself is a monster.
Did you have to replace the battery?
@Michael M 21 years ago would place it around the year 2000. The most recent square at that time was the dw-5600e. So I'd say, probably that
@@Chaffinchcxr once every 10 yers
@@Winford.Studios I think you dont have to. Because this featured with solar tough.
Battery needs to be replaced every 39 years. Battery will still corrode
Yep - by far my favourite choice for day to day wear. It’s nice to have selection when it comes to formal watches and good lookers - but the 5610 is the only watch I really need to own.

I concur.
Who cares?
It really is an almost perfect watch, sometimes I wonder why I have so many others when this one does everything I'll ever need it to.
What a coincidence, I'm wearing the GWM5610U today. Such a versatile watch and many great features that could be added to the list (you focused on the right ones). I love my GMWB5000-1, the screw down case back is so beautiful.
I love my G Shocks and F91Ws. I wear them at the gym, when I run or when I do yard work. Unfortunately I'm too shallow to choose them outside the house over my Submariner or Speedmaster.
G-Shock is god tier! Just got myself a Frogman few days ago and I’m definitely in love with it!
Cringe
Just got my M5610U yesterday (updated version). Swapped it into a custom weathered black stainless steel kit from Ali Express. Love it.
5610 has been my everyday for nearly 7 years. I can't sing its praises enough. It's great.
A few years ago, I put mine on a composite bracelet I picked up from Seiya Japan and it elevated it even further. Recommended.
i have had this watch for about 17 years and have never needed to do anything to it. it just works
I have one of these. I eventually stopped wearing it regularly. It's still in my collection, though. The one thing I haven't liked about it is that the tower that sends the atomic time signal is in Colorado and I'm in New Jersey. That's made it hard to get the time to sync. I purchased a Tough Solar Casioak for the quick release + solar. You can never go wrong with a solar g-shock & I'd argue everyone should own one!!!!
I have a coupe of squares. And I love them, I might not wear them, but I love them. And occasionally I find myself looking at more variations. They're just so gosh darned fun
Got this on Amazon Cyber Monday for 70 bucks😊

I like you’re point of view and how you explained your G-Shock experience.
Smart watch will instead of G shock
G shocks, the Toyota Land Cruisers of the watch world
You have reached both the horological zenith and nirvana at the same time with this watch. A watch that never needs setting, never needs charging (or winding), is the perfect size and doesn't cost the earth. That Rolex on your wrist is looking like it's just not trying.
Swiss watches are overrated.
I love g-shocks. My 5610 was eventually dethroned (dewristed?) by my GA800. It's a plain (no solar, no atomic, no sensors) analog-digital combo that is very legible, unlike many of the others. The gw-5000 is the one for me. I’ve had it almost a decade.
A testament
I have this watch since 2011, and until now I haven't changed the battery yet.
Besides the great watch, this is almost ideally crafted video/review
As always a quality video with real world sarcasm to make everything make sense again!
Agree the only watch you need the best of the best....but don't muck about with it ........keep it standard. I have all the predictable prestige brands but this is the watch I wear every day..

This is my first and only G-Shock because of your other video. I love it. Trying to find a light grey bezel/strap. Thanks for the search criteria!
I have this one. A great watch for "missions". Good video format and script. Very nice to watch. Sorry for the pun.
I just wish the MM/DD could be swapped around, other than that it's flawless.
That white….
Just splurged on a white bezel and strap. Will get the watch next month. :) Love the all white look with the black center and red ring.
You may want to let ppl know about the 5610U upgrade. its the same but with a very welcome changes.
Do you have a link for the white case? Thanks
100% agreed! I own this 5610 in exactly this and the black display version and for me it's also the BEST G-Shock you can get! Classic design, all the functions you'll ever need and... basically the only watch you'll ever need. At least it theory ;-)
Ugghh love this on the white mate. Been trying to find the same model in white. Nailed it! Btw what brand jeans are you wearing mate?
Radio control would be nice to have. Having an accurate phone clock actually makes the inaccuracy very apparent and it bothers me whenever I had to set it up every year or so
Maybe the best watch, ever, actually.
Lol when the screenshot with the rainbow strap pops on the screen I thought I'm gonna buy it too. And voila, this guy bought it too xD
I have the GW5000-1JF and the GW5000U -1JF and the GW 3000M 4AER Japan. Very nice.
I have the same Rangeman, but for the squared G-shock, that one you have is outdated, I have the Gw-5000U-1JF with the screw back. Get the GW-M5610U with the updated module.
This is the best watch

I guess the best is the GW-M5610U
the GW-5000U-1 is pretty much the same watch as the GWM-5610-1, except it's all around higher quality (made in japan)
HUBLOT ENTERED THE CHAT AGGRESSIVELY WITH STYLE OVER SUBSTANCE
“Why should anyone care what a bunch of sociopaths think?” 😂😂
Thanks for video! Seems u really love your watches) P.S. didn’t know about time sync feature
My dad promised me a gshock but never got me one finally after 6 years of waiting I finally got one and it's a monster he got me 2 of the same model and so far mo matter what I do it still looks new after a wipe
Which one should buy: the one like in the video, or the same but with the negative screen?
What a great video! Right to the point! I agree with you 100%. I own many high end watches, definitely need to rethink 😂
Probably the best watch ever made...
I have never dropped my watch off my wrist while looking at my watches, but have dropped my phone many times.
I have both of them, absolutetly the best
Hello. I really think the Gw m 5610 was the best gshock... but just after i buy the gw 5600 e. I have to say it s a bit better in term of colour, softer bracelet , and the non solar screen that is no ” translucid”

Are the straps easy replaced on there. Would like to throw a silicone strap onto one as the reskn straps are awful.
It’s the GW-5000U for me!!
I don't own a G-Shock, nor have I in the past. Not sure why. I do have a "Casio Royale" & have owned other Casios & Timex digitals before. Someday, I may get a G-Shock.
Great video!! May I ask where exactly you bought the white mod kit? Can’t seem to find one for exactly the same model.
was wearing my white one when i won 25k in vegas and im never taking it off
lol that's what i saw most used watch by british SAS
I "dare" to say that the newest, updated, improved and upgraded model Casio G-Shock model GW-M5610U is even better in many aspects!... details and comparation are plenty on UA-cam, Google...etc

What is the model of that g shock at the start which was on the left?
I have the same watch, it's the best I've owned
Can‘t find an original white strap anywhere. Does somebody have a hint ?
The gw5600 is the same without solar right?
What is the model number for the white one in the thumbnail
Watch the video
the 5610 is a bit smaller than a normal square
When the solar battery dies, can it be replaced? Also, how long does it last before needing a replacement?
Yes solar batteries can be replaced. 1 battery would last easily from 15 to even 20 years
Great video I have 2 of these watches best watch ever 👍
The 5610 is the ultimate watch for when the world ends
The best watch in the world, bar none
Every collection is not complete without a G-Shock.
Yeah even the watch expert like Nico Leonard approve it.. it's GODTIER!!!
yeh it's good, but you're sleeping on the GW5000U
I agree, I have 6 G-Shocks like this in different colors.
Guess DW5600 is of the same size
That brick is awesome but...
...everybody can buy it even the person not familiar with watch culture at all. Just add awarness about G-Shocks (cool and tough). Don`t get me wrong I owe one but full steel version. Why ?
I love to be a watch collector not because of wear watches. I love to talk about them as well and nobody would start a conversation with me about watches when see resin G-Shock.
I wouldn`t.

I love the 6900
im conviced, i need it!
Can anyone say if the radio set feature will work outside of those countries?
Just got in the 5000u-1jf. I won’t say it’s better, but… it’s sort of better 🤓
What’s the model for the white colour?
Watch the video
Just so happens that’s the only watch I own. 🤣🤣

Learned this the hard way buying older used Gs.
its got power saver mode theres prolly no need to put a lightbulb in your watch case. lol.
Gotta go analog btw. Try the ga800. except you don't get any of the features. but, its not a gigantic watch like you were saying as the mudman was.
Nah! the GW5600 is da bomb. Simple as can be.
It is the best!
Great video as usual 👍 check out as an alternative update of this one: Citizen CB5914-89X My Favorit right now 😊👌 (Analog, Solar, Radio, Sapphire, 20bar..) great design

Fully agree with you. I own one and it is my favorite watch.
