Yeah, this. As much as I love Chalk Outlines, the live version of How to Be Me is goosebump city for me. It's incredible.
Last night "Suicide" dropped, i think each and every one of us who watched the premiere cried like a baby. Even if you can´t relate to how he felt or what he went through, the way he puts it, it´s impossible not to feel your heart shrinking.

Fuckin' yeah. Didn't even know he was about to release a new title, launched it out of curiosity and... what an uppercut right in the guts... Chalk Outlines and How to be me were already black diamonds in Ren's crown, but suic*de is the Koh-i-noor of it all.
You have discovered Chinchilla now too! You MUST react to her song "Fingers" live version! It is incredible and showcases her amazing talent. Her newer song "Little Girl Gone" is her first independent release and a power anthem for women, the vulnerable, the bullied. Amazing!

That's what hits me about this song. The first thing most people think about when you say "chalk outline" is death. But I think at its most basic the chalk outline is something that says "this is a space where a person used to be". And that's so much what it can feel like being medicated; you need it to function but it can make you feel like your body is just filling a space where a person used to be.

great reaction as always guys, it is a gut punch.... I'm 61 years old, I've played in bands and been into music since I was young, but I have never come across an artist like Ren ever... I'm glad to say I lived at he same time when Ren walked the earth making music...

Then ofc her solo things, especially "Fingers" which is also a live one. Her voice is something else... I've been living-breathing-eating-sleeping-pooping (no sleeping due to insomnia, and ofc no pooping due to being a female, and as you may already know females don't shit 😸) music for over 40 years now and it's been a loooong time since I stumbled upon such talent as hers. I think she's also an independent artist, just like Ren, so you reacting to her music would make more people to find out about her, and in my opinion she deserves a larger audience.

If it makes you feel it so deeply, it's true. That's what art does. Chinchilla's voice added a scream - a beautiful, melodic scream, but still a scream of pain. It's amazing. Great comment on hip hop. Real isn't just about swagger and trash, and how bad ass you can be, or how skeptical of the world. Thank you for recognizing that and speaking to it in your own work. I think a lot of performers are so out of touch with the things really driving them that they can't get there. It takes a supreme act of courage to face your own demons, and that's only the beginning.
right on fellas! This is one of the most powerful ballad type songs ive ever heard. Their harmonies and chemistry are just infectious. The song is so genuine and powerful yet manages to still have a "pop" structure as in it has that classic song pattern - verse/chorus/verse/chorus/bridge/chorus out. That structure is familiar and pleasing and easy to be fake and superficial but not the case with this song. He took a tried and true pop formula and made something profound, honest, and beautiful. Check out more Chinchilla solo stuff. I think she will surprise you in all the good ways. Peace.

Ren is Real and Chinchilla is Real, too. She’s amazing all-around. She is independent now as well. Her song “Little Girl Gone” was #1 on the iTunes Chart the day it came out (or next day, can’t remember for sure - back in April I think) and she produced it!! More greatness from Chinchilla to check out - “Fingers” (there’s a live version and a music video, the Live is STUNNING and the music video is awesome. It’s almost like 2 different songs. Absolutely recommend checking both out!) and also “Elements” - Lyric Video (it’s more than a lyric video, but that’s the title) and one more thing, she and Ren duet on “How to Be Me” and it is phenomenal.

You need to check out his band, The Big Push. They do a lot of covers, notably I Shot the Sheriff/Road to Zion/Hip Hop. It's a palate cleanser from his more somber tunes you've listened to so far. Check out War Pigs, Love Will Tear Us Apart, and then Ren did several busking songs with Sam Tompkins. Really shows off his range and talent
I would like to draw attention to the band Nevermore!It's a very underrated progressive Metal band
with one of the best guitarists of the world (Jeff Loomis,who also did most of the lyrics and plays
now with Arch Enemy since Nevermore split up)
and an amazing singer (Warrel Dane who sadly died a few years ago)!
Composition,lyrics,musicianship,storytelling...all outstandingly good.

I purchased this from "Apple Music...the cover image is a black background with a white drawing of the serotonin molecule. I was floored. It gave new meaning to the song....the line, "erase ourselves in a chalk outline," is what happens when you erase chalk on a blackboard, what happens when you are given more and more pills for psychotropic "conditions."....his condition being undiagnosed Lyme disease. He was given wrong after wrong after wrong diagnoses with unending medications which did nothing but make him sicker for years. The blending of their voices, the acapella of his and Chinchilla's voices, the power of her voice, is masterful. One take in a place with good acoustics. Wishing that taking a pill at night will help you wake up a new person in the morning....a good day as something not to be enjoyed because you know it's not going to last....As usual, Ren writes lyrics that are multilayered. And, lastly, what I love about Ren is that in every single song, the lyrics, vocalization and instruments are intentional. There are no mistakes. He is a master and a gift to all of us.

Chinchilla "Little girl gone" is the female anthem song of our generation and Dax "To be a man" is the male anthem and you guys should do both songs. As far as from Ren the two songs of his that absolutely hit the hardest for me is "How to be me" and "Suic*de". I have a military background and have lost more brothers and sisters to suicide than to war and both of his songs really hit on the feeling of survivors guilt and the sadness that those of us left behind feel after losing someone in this way.

I cry at so many songs it's ridiculous, and this one is no exception. Ren's most recent one deals with some VERY intense topics though be warned it is a tough watch but the song itself is absolutely beautiful and some of his best music, do check it out but be prepared to cry again.
