UP Big Boy 4014 Refueling, Lubrication, & Maintenance at Hearne, TX

Here is the last of the time we spent with Big Boy from that day. We met Big Boy at Mexia and stayed for that stop, then followed Big Boy here, to Hearne. Big Boy was getting refueled and lubricated, and possibly having other work being done, before it was to depart Hearne the following morning. Ed Dickens was also doing an interview with a local TV station, although I could not make out what he was saying, and unfortunately only a brief portion of what he said was used in the news story, link here -

Seeing Big Boy beside the refueling tanker truck was cool, good to get a sense of how large Big Boy really is, as it dwarfs the semi truck, in addition to seeing the crew working on and around Big Boy. I also got a nice shot of the front of Big Boy sitting on this curve, gives a good view of the articulation.
