If you look for USB-C breakout boards on an auction site I cannot mention because foooook UA-cam, you should find a few with resistors. These could be used to convert devices like this c64 to USB-C charging.

@Ralph Reilly did you really have years of experience before making and posting your comment?
Once upon a time I was also an inexperienced tech, and I repaired issues before finding the cause.
One thing I learned above all repair techniques, don't bash on the tech who actually tried, even if they failed.

@Ralph Reilly Working on the physical side of electronics is not my specialty. One reason I enjoy these videos. I would have checked the power socket before any work due to my own experiences but I'm not sure I would have checked the other USB ports.

Nice! The more electronic items you fix, the more you'll realise that 90% of all failures are something mechanical unless someone has applied power incorrectly somehow. Broken wires and broken ports/connectors account for an awful lot of failed equipment. Not what you want to hear, but more time doing the initial eyeballing saves a lot of chasing red herrings later. Love your videos. You have come on a ton from the start. Hope the house move went smoothly.

Cheap Christmas gift. used to make a range of noises: fart, shotgun, glass shattering, bomb dropping, whapwhapwhap disappointment noise etc. A few of the buttons only play a quarter of the previous recording. Probably an easy fix and possibly something to feature in a Christmas video. Do post PO box details if that's any use. Cheers for the fun videos and music.

I have the full sized version of this unit and I really like it a lot. The USB power socket on mine broke too, it developed a loose connection so if you bumped the socket it would stop working. My sister's boyfriend tried to resolder the connections but because it's surface mount soldered he couldn't fix it. He said the only way to fix it was by drilling a hole in the case and hard soldering a USB cable to the board. I wasn't too keen on that, so in the end I just bought a replacement unit which is working just fine. I'm sorry to say the joysticks aren't made the best either, they don't use good strain relief and so the cables are susceptible to breakage. The build quality could be better, but overall I think Retro Games did a pretty good job with these units.

Now this use of weights can have a practical purpose. Such a small item that will have wired accessories could benefit from some extra mass to keep from being pulled off a shelf so easy.
The worst one I have seen as far as faking quality was an ATX computer power supply. Had a 3/16 inch thick steel plate between the case and the PCB with yellow capton tape to insulate it. And needless to say, the mains power eventually shorted right through it, taking out 3 ram sticks, a Mobo, CPU, wifi card and 2 fans. GPU somehow survived, capture card was not in use so I think that spared it, and as for ram stick #4, just lucky I guess.
