    Hi Helen! Only machines with embroidery attachments can embroidery, but your machine IS able to drop feed dogs, so you can use a darning foot to do free motion sewing.

    Thanks so much for this particular tutorial, as I have been wanting to learn how to use my embroidery or darning foot, to do free motion embroidery, on my CS-6000i sewing machine.

    Did you hoop your stabilizer or did you just stick it to the hooped fabric after hooping it?

    This is a GREAT tutorial, thank you so much. The reason I went searching for this is because last week, I attached my embroidery foot perfectly. This week, it falls off every time I lower the lever. The left side is secured with the screw, but the right side doesnt seem to be holding its position. I am doing everything you showed and no luck, the machine is about to go out the window hahah. Any ideas?

      Hi Sarah Krstich ! I'm so sorry your foot is giving you trouble - please don't throw anything out the window LOL
      Would you mind sending me a picture of how you have the foot installed just so I can take a peak at the set up? My email is sarah @ sewing parts online DOT com

    Is this foot mandatory for embroidery?

    I thought you were supposed to hoop and put stabilizer for freehand machine embroidery. Is that not necessary on newer Brother sewing machines?

      Hello Sandra! I can understand the confusion. In this video, Sarah used a method called floating. When you float, you hoop the stabilizer; however, to attach the fabric that you will be embroidering, you use a basting spray. There are other ways to attach it like a sticky stabilizer. Here is a link from our Beginner's Guide to Embroidery. Floating is mentioned at timestamp 4 :24. I hope that this helps. ua-cam.com/video/eTkTRmDy6mk/v-deo.html

    it's not necessary to feed the thread through the loop in the foot as you would do with a sewing presser foot?

    • @bjerles
      @bjerles 3 роки тому

    I installed this open toe foot on my cs600i but I was not able to do the free motion , kindly advise me and what kind of quilting guide do I need to get to do the free motion quilting

      As long as you are using a compatible open toe foot, you do not need any additional pieces. You do, however, need to:
      1. Lower the feed dogs
      2. Turn stitch length to 0 (you will be controlling the stitch length by how fast or slow you move the fabric.)
      3. Change your needle to a Topstitch needle or you may have issues with thread breakage.
      Just in case the presser foot that you have is not meant for your machine, here is a link for one that is compatible with the Brother CS6000i: www.sewingpartsonline.com/low-shank-open-toe-darning-foot.aspx
      I hope this helps.
