Just Hwan is humble, talented and hardworking but underated actor. I like his performance in "Ugly Alert ", his first, probably only main leading role in his acting career. Choi Tae Joon played his stepbrother. I totally love the character he played. I strongly recommend this drama to those who have not watched it before.
Have you watched "Tamra, the island", Juhwan was lead in it too and he looked so good in that show

That third husband is a mean guy. He's angry that he got married young so he feels he can do whatever he wants. He's punishing his wife because she got knocked up. I've seen too many dudes like him.

The first concern was frustrating! the father is clearly battling depression, but is not trying to dig himself up and out of that hole, I feel like he is using what happened TEN YEARS AGO as an excuse for everything that is going wrong with his life. It hurt to see the woman's face all beat up and tired, NO ONE should live like that. I can only imagine how frustrated she feels inside because now not only her husband but her son has also turned into a loser. She is under a lot of pressure and just bottling it all up, its so dangerous, what if something happens to her, will the husband continue to be such a kid? He needs to battle his demons for everyone's sake, especially the mother.
Exactly he has TOO MUCH TIME, that is why he is in his victim mentality having depression, if he worked and wasnt so LAZY and ALCOHOLIC. Its not his disease its his laziness, on top of that he is spoiled and abusing towards her. For him not being able to work for a couple of hours because the work doesnt suit him is ridiculous, while his wife is almost dying working her ass off.
but he cant because the work doesnt suit him:
90% of people work in jobs that arent their dreams and this gringo is just sleeping, drinking, not even cleaning after himself but its the disease that does that not him.. BULLSHIT people with physical disabilities work and he is healthy (except liver which he is damaging with his Alcoholic habits)
I think that a big problem with the entire issue is how mental health is still very stigmatized in Asian countries, despite the fact that this problem appeared on the show. Japan doesn't even comprehend the concept of "depression"; they just write it off as weakness, pessimism, and laziness. As a primarily homogenous country, South Korea doesn't always take well to outside influences from the west. From what I've researched and learned, acknowledging mental health problems in South Korea is a reason to lose jobs, end relationships, and a lot of other bad things. They aren't taught the signs of how to identify it, they aren't taught to go and get help (for fear of others finding out), and with mental health issues like depression and anxiety, it's much harder to dig himself out of the hole without the proper support system. Mostly, they're taught to be ashamed of it. I remember reading an article from eat your kimchi where Simon and Martina talked about having a student with very clearly identifiable ADHD, but when they confronted the staff and mentioned that he might need help, they were brushed off and the student was dismissed as inherently bad. So on top of feeling overwhelming shame for his inability to provide for his family, fear, anxiety, crushing depression, as well as a complete lack of confidence, and lack of respect from his children, he could possibly just think that he's inherently incapable of anything. Which isn't necessarily true, but he could just be indoctrinated into thinking that he just can't do anything, due to the breakdown he had. I completely agree that he needs to find some way to cope in a healthier way, but I would say that it's not entirely his fault.
When you're facing anxiety and depression, it isn't so easy as to just get up and get over it. There are so many factors as to what can keep mental health problems relevant. Yes, the wife is also over stressed and under way too much pressure, but to blame that all on the husband who is also suffering is so wrong. "He needs to battle his demons for everyone's sake" I pray you never have anyone close to you face a mental health problem if this is your response. The entire family needs help (PROFESSIONAL HELP) because this isn't something that can be solved by "battling their own demons".
When you and other people like axina taeyane go around calling someone facing a mental disorder a "loser" or "lazy" or "kid-like" then you're incredibly rude and miseducated and doing nothing to lift the stigma surrounding mental health. Disgusting.

The first concern's dad really needs therapy (his other family members as well). He suffered from anxiety disorder and it doesn't look like he got that much better. No matter what he does, he keeps thinking he'll screw up. and didn't she say he called to apologize? It is a sign of emotion unstability. And all the drinking as well...
This is probably one of the saddest concerns ever in this show. And you really cant solve this on a show like this. Telling him to just stop drinking or find a job won't do!

Being in a studio full of people doesn't mean he's overcome his anxiety. Just because he had severe attacks 10 years ago, doesn't mean he doesn't suffer from anxiety still. And from the way they questioned him and he answered, he very well knows that he isn't "living up to expectations". He has tried multiple jobs and he had very good reasons for most of them as to why it didn't work. He also has very low self-esteem which isn't helped by the fact his kids seem to disregard him. It seems like he needs professional help (the entire family actually). Saying that someone who suffers from a mental disorder is "lazy" is incredibly rude and does nothing to end the stigma around mental health.
***** Stress induced panic attacks can happen to anyone, but to have it multiple times and be hospitalized for it every time is not common. He does have anxiety...did you miss the part where she talks about how he isn't even able to leave the house without using the restroom 30 times? That is anxiety. Considering they didn't focus on that aspect of his actions and didn't talk about it as much, I can bet there is more as well. Maybe instead of demeaning "my generation" you should pay attention to the video and educate yourself before you look even more ignorant.
The first concern is just really sad. It's obvious the husband suffered from severe anxiety and still has yet to recover or become 100% better. He also has a very low self-esteem due to what he had to go through. The wife, on the other hand, is over stressed and under way too pressure and with how upset and unhappy she seems I fear the wife might become depressed. I hope everything works out with these two and that they can help each other out!

The mom from the first concern is adorable its upsetting to see that she can't smile easily because of her family. The dad doesn't seem like such a bad guy but he needs to stop using what happened 10 years ago as an excuse, gain more confidence in himself, get help for his drinking problem and get back into the workforce while he still has time. The second son needs to stop using his dad as an excuse to be a lazy little shit and either go to school or get a job.
Her face is pale and almost yellowish, showing that she might have illness in her liver. She's been working so hard to support her family, regardless any excuses, 3 other men in the family - it's time they did something nice back for her... I looked at her face and can't help thinking that the woman is too tired to even care anymore :(

Feel so bad with the first concern. The husband can at least keep the house clean and have dinner ready for her when she comes home. Start a garden! It can be really therapeutic for anxiety. Potentially move on to growing small crops and selling those. Baby steps. The wife's just looked so sad... I just want to hug her ❤

Depression is a life sucking disease - it is a brain disorder that is makes efforts to change nearly impossible. Many people also have panic disorder as well, compounding the problem is that medications do not always work or can even make everything worse. Therapy plus meds helps many but not all. Please research about these real disorders that are physical medical disorders that affect a person's ability to think clearly or even have any hope of health. Family support is essential as well as therapy and respite for the whole family as well as the patient. It is very frustrating having to deal with panic attacks and depression. Hope the family can get good support and heal together!

I had panic disorder when younger, i was literary shaking with my whole body, being in front of people or in a packed room but still went out because it was necessity : either you live or die you have to do something,
HE is NOT that depressed if he was he wouldn't have been in this world as of 10 years ago.
He doesn''t work, he's enjoying his alcohol lifestyle, he doesn't help with household chores, he's raping his wife, exploiting her for money but HE HAS COURAGE TO GO OUT DRINKING so she has to work nights to make sure he is home at night!!!!! he is a LAZY PARASITE nothing more.

The ones that really have mental illness struggle, ¾ of americans are just pretending to get on their meds.. btw the mental illness in america is way more common than in europe. wonder why...
i acknowledge mental illness but not the way he plays it out. My grandfather was in concentration camp when he was a child, he saw his own father killed in front of him, he had trauma but he still pulled trough, he worked, raised a family with my grandma because it was the only way of living. He had problem with alcohol but he was never lazy. And so many people in the past have struggled way more than today's people yet they worked trough it and didn't have time to pity.
Now everybody wants compassion for the smallest things, get over it!!! The people that really need compassion are the ones that have to live with their bodies that are sick, the ones on the street, the ones without food or clean water, the ones that are alone, the ones that are severly mentally or physically abused, born with mental illness. And look at them, they somehow survive without pitying themselfs. Even disabled people work!
NOT HIM THAT HAS SUPPORT OF HIS FAMILY FOR 10 YEARS IN COUNTING, he said he couldnt work an hour because it didn't suit him but could go out at night drinking for his wife to search for him.

Onti Mia They actually took off on August 8th and 22nd. So they didn't actually tape those two weeks due to the Olympics and/or Yeongja mourning her father. Which may also explain why Choi Taejoon was named as a new MC for the show.

In the furst concern the fact that he may or may not have a panic disorder is irrelevant... I have a friend who had to quit his job because of frequent anxiety attacks so his wife works to support their family... he however takes care of the house and is seeking help so that he can function in society... the husband needs to make an effort not make excuses

I am not sure of episode but I will never forget the 2 brothers...the younger one almost died in a traffic accident. These brothers were so close when they grew up as children...they loved each other...because the younger brother lived after the accident and is OK I so understand why the older brother would smell his hair and pat him on the butt...when you almost lose someone you love...those small actions from the older brother showed me that he just wants to be sure he is still here in this life with him. Brotherly love.🤗

Can they please...please hire a real psychiatrist to come in and be a permanent member of Hello, counselor? Because the first concern is very....upsetting. Normally I don't mind the MCs putting words in the guest's mouths, but this time...this is a serious problem. They did not handle this at all...like...why would you reprimand the mom for telling the mother-in-law....i mean they don't know her situation. What if she can't talk to her own family for some reason she doesn't want to tell them? Now, she won't be able to let go of her stress by talking with her mother-in-law, because she thinks it's wrong. This will make her even more depressed and who knows what will happen? ....seriously worried..
She didn't talk to her mother-in-law.. She said that she told her own mother.. The MCs just said that if it gets too hard, you can't tell your mother either because then she would get sad and start crying at how much her daughter is suffering.. And it is true.. Speaking from experience, when you are going through a hard time, you really want to tell your mother and get her advice and let her comfort you, but you can't because then she'll get sad and no one wants to see their mother sad..
And if you think in this way, she has to be atleast 50, and so her mother's age would be around 70.. That's a fragile age..
I guess I understand that, but I just couldn't understand them for reprimanding her about talking about her feelings. She seemed like she didn't have anyone to talk to, and her mom (sorry i thought they said mother-in-law) is the only one she can talk to....I just feel bad for her....I'm the type of person who always has somebody to talk to: my mom, sister, or bff and it really helps to talk about it. It's how I release my stress and they sometimes have some wisdom for me as well....just wish she had somebody to talk is all~ I see where you are coming from though.
Kelly yi True, when you have someone to talk to it does help a lot.. But she seemed like an introvert, and being an introvert myself, I know how hard it is to talk to others, specially about things that are bothering you.. You really really want to, but the words just don't come out of your mouth..
But even I wish she had someone to talk to, she just looks like she'd collapse because of the stress and depression she's under..
Yes I agree. Some of the concerns get me so worried, and a lot of these people need real help. If not bringing a psychologists, they should atleast pay for some sessions for the winners.

I watched cause I had just started watching Ugly Alert
I was keen to watch this drama as I sure liked the young actor who played the younger brother after I saw him in another drama.
He had the cutest bright smile.
I also wished like other viewers the other actor had more roles in future dramas.
Never saw him before in any Korean family dramas I had watched.
