Evan is one of the kindest souls out there. He took time last night to say hi to my daughter (16) who is a huge fan, and have his picture taken with her. She was over the moon. Evan, you’re the best!
"I'm too much with myself, i wanna be someone else" has always struck an emotional chord with me, such a profound statement from such a beautiful song and Evan Dando is a legend.
Dude i've been through it and it just captures it immensely well..even david gilmour of pink floyd said this is the one song he wished he wrote. Another line is 'is it the same stuff we got yesterday' no tryina hide it.finding beauty in the chaos..aint that what its all about? Take care my man✌
I think instead of this line he is a very stable personality. Otherwise he could not be stoned and perform with that intensity. A concert in Australia 2003 is said to be the worst of his career....I listened to that and even that sounds in a way great to me.
This was at Joe's Pub. I got to see him play a few times there. For this performance, he came in for the soundcheck wearing a white plastic construction hardhat.
When all of you people can keep a CAREER AND HABIT running as long as someone like Evan Dando, then feel free to make those snide comments. The whole point of youtube is to be able to watch whatever you want. So if you are not a fan, don't waste your time with this video, move on to cleaner and auto-tuned pastures.
Ah man, this takes me back to to simpler days. I was in love with the Evan and the lemonheads music- Saw him play a solo set in belfast's the empire in 2001 and his music totally blew me away- inspired me to pick up and learn to play guitar!!- I recorded a little demo disc to promote gigs in a small studio in dunblane (scotland) - Two of thracks are "The outdoor type|" and "Frank Mills"- Visit my channel and have a listen!
I thought he sounded really good. The video ruined it because he looked high on heroin (which he very likely was), but the song itself was really good. Amazing voice. Love the Lemonheads from their heyday. Have seen them a bunch of times. Just as good/not good as any band I've seen (versus the perfect recorded songs).
Don't you just love the pretence and ultimate hypocrisy that surrounds the world of the music media. The radio stations, the music channels, the writers, the journalists and the shallow, doltish presenters incessantly harp on about the sex, drugs and rock n' roll.. Yeah, man, d-r-u-g-s...yeah, rock n' roll! But then as soon as somebody like Evan Dando, or Pete Doherty, or even going back to Jim Morrison, actually TAKE fucking drugs, and have the balls to admit that they enjoy using them. This so-called rock n' roll media then turns its' fucking back on them... Pretentious pricks!
Yeah, right on and all that, but... there's using drugs, and there's becoming completely fucked up and dependent on them to the point that it impacts your ability to make music; act normal; not look like shit and not die in a puddle of your own vomit. Looking like a zombie with scabs on your face will never be cool. It's how you carry it off.
Goonerville Gonad You're right. Fair point. It's definitely how you carry it off... Must say, Dando has looked more than a mess before, both on stage and in interviews.
I'd say he looks like a white male, 35 to 45 years old, 5 foot 11 to 6 foot 2 inches tall, sings and plays cool music and looks like a rock star. Sounds the same as he always did. Great.
It hurts to see this video, long time fan, but obviously Evan is being his own Drug Buddy here. As painful as watching some Johnny Thunders stuff - where you realize the talent and genius is there, and sadly drugs are screwing everything up for the artist.
@mrhassell Wow! Why are you even watching this? Put on your speedo and your new Pit Bull/Bieber co-lab and beat yourself into a frenzy but puhleeeez leave the critiques to someone with genuine taste as you have NONE!
I mean Evan's drug consumption is very well known, he doesn't make a secret of it, and for any addict or anyone who's been around addicts, it's very clear that he's not clean here.
@NailHimBackUp oh is he supposed to get all dressed up in make up like beiber or GaGa?? nah I will pass and take my evan the way he is the way he's always been
Not clean (says he's off narcotics but still uses psychedelic) but moderately healthy - roof over head, money, recording songs, etc. Google the recent NYTimes article, well-done.
This is really sad. He is playing horribly. His voice sounds ok but his timing and everything else is just soooo bad. I really hope he kicks the shit. It's a really hard thing to do. I know. I'm praying for you Evan.
This live was 8 years old when you commented this. About threeish years ago, I saw him play and he looked pretty sober and happy. I don't think this live is soooo bad or horrible, it's emotional, real, and one of my favorite lives. On the other hand, went to see your channel. Soulless, technically well executed music with 2 views. Seems that you just don't get it, doesn't mean you have to say it's horrible.

Nostalgia is my favorite drug...
Smooth like buttah! The man's voice is pure perfection!
Even stoned, this guy is still a delicate genius...
Absolutely beautiful. Thank you for posting this.
Just imagine this guy has been in hall of fame since 2015. Yet he's barely even talked about and writes incredible music.
One of the greatest melodic writers.
Whatever his state of mind is, he sure has a nice guitar tone.
It really is a perfect tone. Good combination of overdrive, twang, distortion. He's also good at switching between going clean to distorted.
I wish he'd never started using heroin. Still a wonderful performer.
That was amazing
A great Singer and songwriter. Hands down a genious.
You spelled genius wrong
"I'm too much with my self. I wanna be some one else!" I used to love this band when I was a kid. I still do.
Dude's still got it.
Probably the greatest acoustic version of this song. He is feeling every single word
... It's not acoustic.
A perfect song
It's irony, but that's why it's loved. It's truth. Raw and real. Dude crushes it.
What a voice, what a song and what a singer!
Is he underrated? I think he is. Hopefully has some good work ahead of him. Seems like s a gentle, vulnerable soul.
Depends. They had plenty of good press 10 years ago ish. When its a shame about ray was re released. Amazing band
Yes. So ridiculously underrated.
I’m a Huge Fan
Amazing man. Seen Evan so many times and still has an effect on me.
he's still awesome! gorgeous face and beautiful voice :)
I need to see him live.
beautiful.
What a performance absolutely amazing version love it to BiTS and peices
Wasted yeah, but didn't buzz a single string. Legend.

Only 43 likes? Bullshit. Its a fucking great tune.
Looks cool in a down jacket, plays like a spaced out Billy Bragg. He has his very own brand of beauty.
Along with Eddie Vedder, Evan Dando is one of the coolest, most original voices in the World today.
Man, this reminds me of 1994-95. Good times
Great song. Great version.
Such a talented singer/ song writer,
Wow, legend.
Amazing.
This was at Joe's Pub. I got to see him play a few times there. For this performance, he came in for the soundcheck wearing a white plastic construction hardhat.
I'm sorry, can you elaborate? are you implying Dando was working construction at the time of this show?
The same guy that asked the police to release him so that he could go find his mind;) I wonder where did he steal the hardhat from.
a great example of his talent.
Clem Snide/Eef Barzelay does a f'ing beautiful version of this song. Definitely worth checking out. Cheers.
ove the look with the tele an the strings
Dando is a rock god.
Been there. (nod)
Love it Ev!
grande Evan!!!
Dando was at his best when he came out with his solo effort Baby I'm Bored. He played small places with a band and seemed to really be focused.
Paul Kaniewski i love the album and saw him on the tour for the self titled lemonheads album.
My idea is so fucking good
Love
Hope this guy is doing alright. The Lemonheads were an important album in that V.x of alternative.
Lemonheads were so odd.. Kinda underground then all over the radio. Great tunes man.
hang in there buddy... love the song but hate to see the pain
*Listen* to the performance; people are to obsessed with how he *looks* in the video. How does he sound? I think he sounds damn fine.
talented man....
Fight the eyes that just want to close....you only know, if you know..
As beautifull as the original recorded song which featured the warm organ. Simplistic but just as true souled.
can someone tell me what guitar that is
Fender Telecaster, he is noted for playing an SG usually
yea, i love the sound. Im looking at the 72 reissues now
how gone is he
My drug my drug dando!!
Evan, we had a good time. Wish for you to take care off yourself
This is a special 'electric' version. Evan usually does this song acoustic.
I love my drunk buddies ..........

I feel a bit bad watching this. Such a shame :( it's beautiful though

why do you care if he is high? he is a free man.
is he high?
Luiz Marcondes yes.

So, so high......

@fedthefukup Okay, that was pretty funny.
he's wearing a down jacket for crying out loud...LOL
ButteWhat this was in January bro.. lol
Only Evan Dando can make heroin look cool.
No one makes heroin look cool.
ur forgetting Lou Reed
Sounds great, he looks fine, all these drug comments are moronic. You have no idea what he does or doesn't do.
I mean Evan's drug consumption is very well known, he doesn't make a secret of it, and for any addict or anyone who's been around addicts, it's very clear that he's not clean here.
@NailHimBackUp oh is he supposed to get all dressed up in make up like beiber or GaGa?? nah I will pass and take my evan the way he is the way he's always been
Big Mouth netflix
He's clean and healthy as far as I know. Right?
Not clean (says he's off narcotics but still uses psychedelic) but moderately healthy - roof over head, money, recording songs, etc. Google the recent NYTimes article, well-done.
I want Evan to live BUT he looks like SHIT right now he's my hero and I'm so sad
Damn he looks like he is completely wasted.

What is wrong with him.
zai rocka opiates man.. opiates. people can say he's clean but. opiates never leave you.
Nothing. What's wrong with you? Anyone?
This is really sad. He is playing horribly. His voice sounds ok but his timing and everything else is just soooo bad. I really hope he kicks the shit. It's a really hard thing to do. I know. I'm praying for you Evan.
this is my favorite and I've listened to him 100 times.
Just saw a (on you tube) 10/2018 vid- all signs point to ‘not yet kicked’ but still was out there doin’ it-

Clearly smacked up and butchering his beautiful song. :( Heartbreaking.
Sounds excellent to me!
sorry but you have no taste in music.
Doesn't sound smacked at all. H gives you a raspy deep voice. Listen Cranford nix if you want to hear someone smacked out
It sounds great to me too but he prob was on some type of opiate
To the max damn shame..snap out of it Evan
Outstanding ! Thanks for posting this .
Holy shit *_Billy Ray Cyrus is singing that song from big mouth_*
