My Mk7 is right on the threshold of unusable power. 3-5 seconds in the power band and you’re in felony territory. The R32 is just so much fun to rev out around town, not very fast on the highway but that’s not what it was meant to do
the problem was people tought this was more of a performace car rather than a tourer , thats the reason they stoped making them and focused on the 4 bangers
Cars in modern market currently have a higher threshold for power. I should compare this to 2008 versions of other vehicles to see if it really 'slow'.. I've had 2 mkv r32. Driving a stock one is as fun as the turbo build with 417whp. Just a visceral direct experience. Feels better than alot of the other cars I've gotten to drive.
I've had my white one for 7 years now and it still puts a smile on my face every time I drive it. And often on others' faces too - I get stopped and asked about it often. Service guys and tire shops ask me if I'd ever consider selling it. Good call on it being a future classic! I always turn my head when I hear another in the area.

#4355 full engine rebuild with HPA air to water intake manifold, garret gt35r turbo, 3" downpipe, high flow sport cat, stock exhaust, kw v3 coilovers, various supporting parts upgraded. HPA stage 2 dsg tune with a stage 4 haldex tune, hpa sport clutch pack...Love it. I do drive it alot. Not into buying cars to stand and look at them.
3069, bought it during August of 2020 so far it's been good the only issue was the mechatronic and shifter solenoid going out at the same time. I like mine it's a lot of fun gets a lot of hate though because it's a DSG and not a Mk4 lol but before it I had a 6-Speed GLI VR6.
Are they not dark cheery red lights on the back in the uk that's what we have same on edition 30 ,, looks like you have the normal mk5.rear lights which are lighter ones ,, but still a beautiful car ,,,,,
I love 2 door GOLF's. It's why I can't bring myself to part with my 2015 MK7 GTI... I've owned 4 Golf's, all 2 doors. Between 2001 and 2015. I wish they would still make the R in 2 door. ugh.
It’s just a borla catback non resonated, but come to find the cats are almost completely clogged, so we are removing them in the next few weeks with a catless downpipe setup

I got a magnaflow on mine too. Was the tune worth it? I was looking at going for a united moters tune. Engine trans and Haldex but it’s like $1500.

The MK5 hasn't really gone up in value as much as the Mk4. I daily mine also until I get a second vehicle.
