ThioJoe Hey I don't think that stuff like that would happen cause I don't post memes against certain people except people I know very well and I live in Mauritius 🇲🇺
Why does CNN think doing this shit is going to make them look like the better person? All they had to do was ignore it or play along with it and treat it like it is: a joke. But now, Trumpsters and even normal people alike are given fuel to call them out on this bs. Really dumb move.
nineball039 I understand how immature him posting it was and can see how people can take it as a threat, but he's all hype and won't do shit. Just my opinion though
Twin Tails - In "The Selfish Gene", Richard Dawkins coined the term "meme" to mean a cultural replication as part of evolution apart from the biological gene. Dawkins' book preceded the internet by a decade. The internet crowd has redefined his term. I put the term in quotes as it was bandied about in the media and in this video but was not originally intended as a joke.
Not even that. Tell them where to stick it. When they decide to follow through with their promise, sue them for slander, and use a no-win-no-fee solicitor. I'm sure many would take it on as CNN are totally out of line here, and this entire incident really shows them up for what they really are - corporate fucktards that need knocking down a peg or two.
its not blackmail or the denial of his right to free speech.. they didnt get any money, property, or services from him so theres no blackmail. he still has the right to say whatever he wants so theres no denial to free speech. it might be morally wrong but dont say stupid shit that doesnt make any sense
I used to consider myself a liberal, but after noticing how they (Democratic media, and DNC) can't handle negative press without flipping out, I'm done with them and the rest of the blue church. I'm not a Republican either, I think both sides have to take a few steps back and remember that they're supposed to be serving the people who they represent and making the country a better place instead of bickering back and forth over childish rhetoric
Ofc, I've heard of this before you on Mark Dice's channel. Clown News Network can't track down their sources but can track down a 15 year old kid who made a meme and threaten to dox him...
Use a VPN based in an European country and which *doesn't* have a US presence. That way you at least get the protection offered by EU personal data protection laws.

Sorry to dissolution you but EU data protection laws do not prevent any European government from insisting an ISP provides them with detailed information regarding your internet usage, thus making it as essential in Europe as it is in the US to use a VPN.
I live in Scotland and I never knew what VPNs were for. I now know through bitter experience what they are. I have a VPN now, AVG and it does the job well. I definitely would advise any computer owner to install one. 80 years old and still learning!!
I connected to New York but VPN always doesn't tell you you're in a different city cause I ended up being in Georgia so... Can't get mine till tomorrow :/
I know what you mean, I got into an argument with someone on Facebook in Feb, and a few months later the FBI investigated me for Domestic Terrorism when it was Self Defense against four people threatening my life and the FBI were saying I could go to prison for twelve years for a single argument on Facebook back in Feb when it was Self Defense.
I don't think paying the monthly fee matters TOO much. People and/or companies can be the absolute most greediest and even if you hand them every single dime you have, they'll be trying to get more from you or will sell your info in a heartbeat if the price is right. With that said, it's more of a life lesson rather than this particular VPN situation. So I would apply it to everything. Other than that, great vid. You had a good message tied to good intentions so kudos my friend.
Without a VPN sometimes ipcheck can actually pinpoint your home on their locator map. That was scary when I saw this. Guessing it must depend on what type of connection you have with your ISP
It was obviously satire which is a protected form of speech/expression, as in New Times, Inc. v. Farley and satiric fair use as in Campbell v. Acuff-Rose Music, Inc. Since this satire was political in nature the courts have a rich history of upholding and protecting political satire. Cheryl Millard exactly, plus, what is the downside if hansolo loses, his identity as a the maker of a dumb meme video is released? I mean, unless hansolo is a member of some intel organization, it is risk worth taking!

Most social media accounts are going to be tied to an email and possibly a phone number. The VPN is not going to do much to protect your identity on a genuine Facebook / Google account. But yes, you should still use a VPN.
I've used torrents for roughly 20 years now, and for about 13 of those years I _never_ used a VPN. But when I was living at my sisters for a tad, I torrented the first TMNT movie and her ISP emailed her a warning not to do that again and she flipped out on me. Been using PIA ever since, and with terabytes of success.
Hope Moore VPNs are legal last I checked. Companies use them all the time for remote access away from the company network, especially for those of us who work from home.
In my opinion even a vpn is useless. The thing is, big companies like cnn might have some friends over at any vpn service, or just write a polite letter asking about the persons ip, since they should be able to find the persons ip by knowing what time he sent the information through the vpn server. Someone could literally write a letter, say that person has done something wrong or serious and they need the ip, and i think chances are they would just give that to them. I think the best way to avoid this is to not do anything wrong. Makes sense, dont do anything wrong, you dont get into trouble, if you do, even if you got a vpn backing you up, i would say people would still know your ip. Am i wrong here, what do you guys think?
KowCokPow Being wrong is subjective. What exactly is wrong? What exactly does the first amendment do? The most important question is who and what is "Big Brother" and what is his motive and master plan? Power, power, power- enslavement of the human mind.
Feasible, but not in all cases. As long as you spend time researching your provider, making sure their company isn't based in the USA and keep no logs whatsoever, this scenario can easily be avoided.
who determines what is wrong? We live in the US which is supposed to give every single person "freedom of expression" by speaking, publishing or any other means. Whether you take it as insult or attack, you have to treat as civil vs civil, not civil vs public. Because we, individual, will lose the game 100 times out of 100 games if it is individual vs public.
This really pisses me off and makes me sick. I don't care who you are, what side of the fence you sit on...this should piss you off. This is why I want a VPN.
You are so right! We are living in a kind of Virtual Prison and it is better to be safe than sorry. It is also good to see young persons like ThioJoe following in the footsteps of the older generation of the Internet pioneers. The Internet is stuffed compared to the time when we older people have started it. It happened exactly what Bill Gates once predicted in an article of 1991.
Betternet and VPN360 are my favorites. They’re free and they don’t keep logs via the contract you agree to upon use. If they do, they have no evidence because if so - that Company just breached their contract which makes them liable. Betternet is perfect but has ADs on Android. VPN360 has no ADs that bother you and they have a faster upload and download speeds. I’ve been using them for years now, I’m using one right now. Just be careful for IP leakages cause - everything on the Internet always has some issues every now and then. Use a service to analyze your IP Addresses and make sure they changed and aren’t leaking. Also, let me riddle you this - when you register an account and login like said in the video. Aren’t you basically just creating an account to maintain your log data? Yessss. Haha. It’s easy. You’re welcome.
thanks for the video! Subscribed! quick question, would you recommend the options you discussed in the video? or is creating a vpn on windows just as secure?
I've tried 3 VPN's and my download speeds dropped to ridiculously slow speeds with each of them, even though they claim they have high speed servers and the proxies would be transparent. I'm getting around 200+Mbps (sometims as high as 240 Mbps when a speed test is run), yet with a VPN my speeds dropped down to like 12 Mbps. Each VPN claimed it was due to a rapid surge in growth that happened right after the incident you were talking about, but they had promised prior to my signing up that I wouldn't notice any degradation at all. Apparently, the majority of their customers don't run a speed test to see how much performance they lose going through a VPN. So, while I agree with you that we've gotten to a point where a VPN is becoming a necessity here in the US, just as it has been for years in highly censored countries like Pakistan, N. Korea, and China, it's pretty hard to accept the performance degradation one is supposed to accept in order to protect their privacy, not to mention these VPN companies don't seem to have any problem saying anything to make a sale and get that monthly recurring income coming in. So, tell me of a VPN that will still allow me to benefit from somewhere in the area of the 200+ Mbps speeds that I pay for each month, and I'll be more than happy to check them out. But hell, between the router, encryption, private VPN on specific applications, and so on, I'm not totally wide open, though I'd feel safer if I were using a VPN, without a doubt.
I took your advice and signed up for NordVPN. I found it to be extremely frustrating and canceled my subscription On a positive note, they readily refunded my subscription. I am somewhat PC literate. I have built seven PC's. Prior to wireless routers, I had a Cat 5 network in my house running six PC's, with a hard-wired firewall I found my PC actually performed slower in many instances. The biggest frustration as sites were classifying me as a robot and I had to go thru the "I am not a robot" routine far too often. My autofill did not work often. Today, I attempted to login to "Whitepages Premium" and I had to submit an online application for review to allow me into my paid account.
YOOO when he started mentioning service names the video was interrupted by UA-cam with a targeted ad for another VPN service... beginning with the words “everything you do online is public”
Who cares how people pronounce gif. It's a damned acronym. The creator I think pronounced it jif....but I hardly think it's a debatable topic, unless you're a useless internet zombie with literally nothing better to do with your time.
I wonder if that guy could sue Reddit for giving his private information to CNN. When you use an online service aren't you supposed to have a reasonable expectation that the service will protect your privacy by keeping your personal information confidential?
