I remember, quite recently, I watched this, inspired by the animation, cried because I found out the animator worked on my favourite animated movie of all time (Spiderverse), decided to go and buy Portal 1 & 2, and decided to actually get back into animation again because of the fact that I got so emotional from this… Well, everything about this. Its amazing that she’s now the lead animator at sony!! When i was younger i always wondered where this person went, cant believe they worked on OK KO, Obituary, TOTTMNT and Into the Spider-verse! Theyre so inspirational, its amazing! I’m glad theyre doing well! I know im like definitly at least 2 decades younger than them but knowing theyre connected to a lot of my childhood shows and movies really makes me feel proud of them, kinda like a mom proud. It almost feels like I’ve grown up with them even though I never met them.

11 years ago (as of the date of writing this comment) this guy was doing MLP and Portal animations. Now, he is the Supervising Animator of THE Across the Spiderverse movie. What a guy.
I mean more or less, Wheatley basically IS Stephen Merchant. If I remember correctly, Valve gave Stephen a lot of creative freedom with the script he was given, which turned Wheatley into the character we have today
As someone only now after OVER A DECADE playing the Portal games, yeah this is exactly what I'd expect GLaDOS and Wheatley to look like as humans. They look like their EXACT personalities, and it makes way too much sense. Also as an aside thank you for helping make Spider-Verse that movie is still like one of the best movies I've seen in years and maybe my favorite animated movie of all time? I dunno the specifics but I think it's close.
Just looked up this animator on IMDb, and it turns out they've been working on a lot of really cool stuff in the industry, like Spiderverse and OK K.O!
The biggest questions: How would Wheatly get carried to his management rail by the bird? How would GLaDOS be stuffed into a potato battery? How could the corrupted cores be put onto WHEaTLY? What would the turrets, ATLAS and P-body look like?
I've only just now recieved this on my recommended feed but I must say, this is incredible. The animation really does remind me something from "treasure planet" or some old cartoon. Keep up the work, this animation is amazing
This animation; the unique and clever character designs (I never noticed all the specific colourations on Wheatley's suit before-if he curls up into a ball, the markings mirror his canon design perfectly! Wow!), the fluid movements packed with personality, the excellent understanding of colour atmosphere and even camera angles - everything about this is so perfect. I will never tire of looking at your animation. I know it's quite old now, but I hope you continue to make great things; you are a massive inspiration. Edit: well done to baysalt on the colouring! Didn't notice that extra credit, sorry.
That is what makes her a great villain, the strong presence and knowledge that they can be wild but chose not to be. Its like a jack in the box you turn it knowing it will explode but you turn it anyway just watching and waiting.
The fact that they started out making incredible Portal animations and are now the Animation Lead on Across the Spider-Verse is honestly the coolest thing. I think every artist and animator's dream is to go from drawing their blorbos to working on beloved animated films, and they've actually accomplished that. I mean more or less, Wheatley basically IS Stephen Merchant. If I remember correctly, Valve gave Stephen a lot of creative freedom with the script he was given, which turned Wheatley into the character we have today
As someone only now after OVER A DECADE playing the Portal games, yeah this is exactly what I'd expect GLaDOS and Wheatley to look like as humans. They look like their EXACT personalities, and it makes way too much sense.
Also as an aside thank you for helping make Spider-Verse that movie is still like one of the best movies I've seen in years and maybe my favorite animated movie of all time? I dunno the specifics but I think it's close.

I've only just now recieved this on my recommended feed but I must say, this is incredible. The animation really does remind me something from "treasure planet" or some old cartoon. Keep up the work, this animation is amazing

This animation; the unique and clever character designs (I never noticed all the specific colourations on Wheatley's suit before-if he curls up into a ball, the markings mirror his canon design perfectly! Wow!), the fluid movements packed with personality, the excellent understanding of colour atmosphere and even camera angles - everything about this is so perfect. I will never tire of looking at your animation. I know it's quite old now, but I hope you continue to make great things; you are a massive inspiration.

That is what makes her a great villain, the strong presence and knowledge that they can be wild but chose not to be. Its like a jack in the box you turn it knowing it will explode but you turn it anyway just watching and waiting.
The fact that they started out making incredible Portal animations and are now the Animation Lead on Across the Spider-Verse is honestly the coolest thing. I think every artist and animator's dream is to go from drawing their blorbos to working on beloved animated films, and they've actually accomplished that. Chelsea GR, thank you for being such an inspiration for folks like me who are studying to go into animation. I wish you all the best, and that you have a long and successful career doing what you love!
