It's like watching HOME IMPROVEMENT Tim needs more power! It is now the Binford 1025rX! 😂
Urururur 🤣🤣🤣
Yeah the Binford 1025RX2000. . . .!!!
you mean 1025RX"T" !!! LOL
Tool time Tim returns!
I am looking forward to seeing the finished product.
As an automotive enthusiast and a farmer, I cant WAIT to see this outcome! love the idea Tim! John Deere needs to watch this series lol more boost!
When I visit a Bosch diesel service in my country (Belgium), most of the time its 'we can't fix that'. Nice to see a company that thinks along with there customers !!!
This is AWESOME!!! Reminds me of another show I used to watch 🤔....that guys name was Tim also and he was always looking for MORE POWER too!!!!
Tim, my Dad bought a 770 Deere in 1997. I was 12 at the time and I ran the wheels off that tractor. My dream was to put a turbo on it! This is going to be a fun journey. I enjoyed seeing the shop, I like learning about pumps and turbo’s. I think you’ve teamed up with the right guy’s! Take care!
Hey Tim I liked you reading the bible verse at the end. Sometime I would have to rewind or pause to read the long ones. Great channel this build should be fun. I just purchased a new 1025R in July.
Tim, this is the kind of video I needed to take my mind off of this crazy, wet harvest in east-central Illinois. Thanks!
Yep, just a little fun.
Saw that there are still lots of beans left in east central IL yesterday. Looks like good weather here for a few days!
Tim’s gone rogue, and he’s brought Christy along!! What will happen next? Outcome will be more great videos, interesting content, cool interviews and of course…MORE POWER! Gonna be a fun journey with “Johnny X’. BTW, I like your voice over along with the Scripture. Well done. Blessings.
When you said you had plans for Johnny this was not what I expected. I am SO EXCITED. I’m also a truck mechanic so I’m understanding what’s all going on and I’m so excited to see the finished product.
Good fun idea, Tim! As for the exhaust, go through the hood, and also build an air cleaner through, or beside the hood, Detroit Diesel style. Straight pipe. No muffler.
I'm really looking forward to following along with this one!!!
Best idea I’ve ever heard Tim! Great way to evolve your channel
HMMMMM COOL! Can't wait to see the end result. I personally would not put the exhaust through the hood for these reasons, 1) The stack would need to be removable to get the hood open, 2) Removable exhaust will eventually leak and wobble around, yuk, 3) the stack would need to be quite tall on a 1025 due to the position of the operator and still be able to resist breaking when contacting tree limbs and brush. 4) Because of that tall stack the mount would need to be very strong which would consume needed space under the hood, 5) you mentioned the engine vibrates a lot, a long, unsupported exhaust tube on a vibrating motor spells cracking and breakage. I would do a short tube from the turbo to a smaller muffler out the side and down. May not be as quiet but would be better than a straight pipe. Good luck with it Tim! Seems like you have the right team on it.
Odds are itbwould have to go out the side and up. If it went out the top its because piping would demand it. I don't think he's gonna crank the hell out of it. I would be more interested in tq increase down low when you aren't running it at 2,600rpm
Tim, I think you hit a home run with these guys. The ADS guys seem to be right on top of everything they do. Thanks for showing us ADS. I know you'll keep us up to date on Johnny 1025R-X.
I've been watching Tim's 1025R videos for over 2 years waiting for a turbo - Thanks Tim! Exactly what I was waiting for.
Very cool to have this kind of support locally. Oh to be able to play! 🌴☕️
Great job. I look forward to seeing the results
Interesting project Tim. I think you selected the right company to assist in the project.
We're hoping to have a video up next week showing the installation of the turbo kit - feel free to drop any questions to our attention and we'll try to answer them in the upcoming video! Thanks Tim & everyone involved and everyone for watching!
This is one of the coolest videos you have done.thank you.
One of the first things I googled after I got my 1025r because I've slapped turbos on multiple cars in the past--about that size, too. Glad to see you're taking one for the team by being the Guinea pig.
Now we know why Tim bought back his trade when he got the new 1025R a few episodes ago. Appreciate trying new things as many don’t want to void their warranty.
Exciting. Using my 54” rear blower I always said from day one. The little tractor needs a turbo.
Excellent video! I think reciiting the verse at the end is a goofd upgrade. I enjoyed it..............Unfortunately i think Tim and Christy just opened pandoras box for several gear heads and i see a flood of orders and ideas heading to area diesel.......i think their stock just doubled.
This is something I’ve been curious about for my ls 122. I’ll be watching Tim.
Ps, sorry about my last comments left on your other post.
💥 This is going to be a fun project to follow. Really looking forward to it.
*Keep on tractoring!*
Love this idea and your willingness to go for it!! And really enjoyed your interview with Dirt Perfect!
Just a LOVELY crazy idea.. I hope it works out really well. Great entertainment Tim.
What your doing is so cool! I’ve had a JD 2210 for a number of years and absolutely love that tractor! I’ve done more stuff with that tractor and often times, I’m amazed how much power it has for it’s size. Many times I’ve thought of adding a turbo because I enjoyed hearing the turbos whistle on our much bigger tractors and equipment on our farm when I was younger.
I love this idea especially when they said they may be able to change the ground speed too cuz my 2305 is awful slow down the road and there I got a couple driveways I plowed it takes forever to get there thank you very much.
Tim I cannot confirm but I think JohnDeere did offer a low altitude kit for the 1025/2025 (Turbo kit). This upgrade will get a lot of attention. I want a kit if you figure it out . The 1025/2025 units are about 5hp short . If you can get it up to 30hp it should hold up as a unit. Keep in mind with a turbo it will run hotter than it did due to no air to air after-cooler. I do enjoy your channel when you are working with JD units. All Green here lol
Thx GB
I would think the boost to 30 hp is achievable, engine life would drop drastically as it wasn't engineered for more. Engine compression ratio (21:1 non-boosted vs 16-18:1 designed to take boost), and heat rejection of the engine (radiator size and coolant flow), would start to cause troubles. Modern Heavy Truck engines (2021) run higher compression ratios, but resort to heavy modifications compared to previous versions.
Carl what hp gain do you think the engine can handle without major affects of engine life? 2.0
@@georgegeorge8493 As stated about 50% increase, 40% would give better longevity, as the engine has some variation in throttle input. Diesels work best with a steady load at steady RPM, ie ~70% load around 75% RPM. Unless the engine is designed for it (think engine installed in a fishing trawler, normally run at >80-100% power continuous).
Best wishes from the far North.
Having been down this road with a jd 955, put a egt gauge on the tractor also. It is good to know the exhaust gas temp during the hard pulls. You will feel the power when you push that loader into a pile of dirt. I can hear the turbo go to work on mine when i get it working hard.
I always enjoy your videos Tim, keep them coming so I have something to watch with my coffee
Thanks for the kind words!
Can’t wait to see the progress on this project. Go Jonny X ! Love the idea.
Having done a few kubota RTVs and some BX tractors so its doable and you may not get much in gains but the engine will lug much better . I actually even went to the point to add a small air to air intercooler on an RTV and the gains were good that way and it kept it cool enough. Exhaust wise i would make it as straight and most likely get rid of the muffler just to get the exhaust temp in check a bit more . I have been tryin to come up with a Water to Air cooler to fit on a kubota and once we get a few fabrication trials i will have it
Thanks for the Video Tim. Will be neat to see just what you can do with the 1025r. More Power!!!!
FINALLY! A video I've been waiting on for years!!!!!!!
I suspect this will be one of the most popular videos you do. Looking forward to the rest, and the results, as well as how it affect PTO performance in thick brush etc.👍😎😎
00:25 she's just shaking her head and I am loling hard 🤣🤣🤣🤣
great tour and really cool operation. Looking forward to seeing Johnny with a blower
You have definitely got my attention lol. Those Lil Yanmar engines are great. It looks like you have a legit company doing the work. My experience with high performance Diesel engines has taught me that you could have big power or you can have a little more power continuously available but you can’t have both. Cooling system limitations and engine design parameters are your enemies. I didn’t hear any of you talk about The maximum safe egts. When they were Dynoing the stock engine. There should have been an EGT probe Placed in the exhaust ,Maximum temperature should have been measured and when you’re all done the maximum temperature after the turbo swap should be the same or less.I don’t think you’ll be able to add more than 8 to 10 hp without sacrificing engine life exhaust gas temperature or the ability to keep the engine oil and coolant under control. I’m looking forward to seeing this build.👍
I am pretty excited to see the end results!! Good Luck!
This is going to be interesting. In the late 70's I took my Century inboard boat to M&W Gear in Gibson City, IL. Some of their products were engine dynamometers, tractor turbo kits, and marine turbo kits. Long story shortened, they used my 255 Mercruiser gas engine to develop a Coast Guard approved turbo kit for fishing fleet use.
M&W is now RhinoAg. …..one of our partners!
I have been waiting for this for soooo long, This is gonna be great! Lets try to get all the info out of this possible. Thanks Tim!
As soon as you mentioned adding a turbo my wheels started turning. I would say mount the turbo where the muffler is so you can keep the factory outlet. I have never had a chance to look at a 1025R in person, but that was my first gut thought. I can’t wait to see how it all goes and what kind is reliable power you are able to make!
Using rough math you should be able to get about 32hp with 4 pounds of boost. Obviously this is just a rough estimate, based on a 7% increase in hp per pound of boost. That being said, I think I can speak for more than a few of us out here, We are interested (depending on the results) in a kit.
These guys are legit. You’re lucky to have them in your backyard.
Love it Tim, great idea and should be a fun experiment.
Wow! You are thinking out of the box there Tim! This is just wild.
What a great idea!!! Looks like there may be enough room for a muffler down lower in the stock configuration. I like "secret" modifications that keep things looking as stock as possible. Looking forward to see how this all shakes out.
Fun, looking forward to the progress. The “whine” would be fun to hear
Second thought Tim and Christy... Like an old muscle car, you can try to make a "sleeper" or a hot rod. Either try to make everything fit under the hood so it appears stock to the unwise, or go full bore with stacks and such. If you still intend to use the loader and implements, I vote for stuffing everything neatly under the hood and keep it 'looking' stock, so the attachments still fit and function. This should be fun, I look forward to watching!
Very cool video Tim! Diesels love fuel, bigger injectors, adjust the timing on the injection pump, then add a turbo to clean up the fuel.. Then you gotta hope the rods/block can handle the extra power. I been wanting to add a turbo to my BX for awhile now. Kubota actually makes a D902 (T) which the T stands for turbo.. The engine in a BX is a D902 9 (Non T) My plan was to take the turbo kit, injectors and injection pump off a D902T and slap it onto my bx with some tuning and see where it got me but was always worried about the bottom end and head gasket as the compression ratios are different between these two engines..
Mike,
Love you channel as well! I have a BX2680 that i had just recently started thinking a turbo would be helpful in some situations, and voila Tim posts a video. I understand the concerns with the bottom end and head gasket. I am surprised there isn’t an aftermarket kit available for the BX already that would be tuned to not damage the stock motor, yet bump up the horsepower. Hopefully in the future! Keep up the great videos! Tim, great series, look forward to the final build!
@@LatitudeDroneServices thanks buddy, I agree I think it would be very interesting to see! I have seen a few turbo setups on other diesel tractors but none of them were a true sub compact. There was ONE guy who installed a turbo on his 1025r on youtube but he just bought all the parts from eBay I think which you want to avoid at all costs when buying turbo parts.. cheap Chinese turbos and expensive diesels don’t get along well for obvious reasons. Can’t wait to see more this series and thanks for the support 👍🏻
Tim make sure they install you an EGT gauge as it will be extremely important to monitor your exhaust gas temps to make sure you don’t melt the motor down with heat 👍🏻
I have been wanting to get more power out of my 1025r for years. I think a 5-7hp gain would be fantastic.
Just started watching this episode but the title alone got me excited. I always think about adding a turbo to my New Holland.
The look on Tim’s face when he mentions he could be convinced to have a straight pipe!!!
I suspect at least initially there will be a straight pipe! 🤣
7:00 minutes in and I'm so stoked I have to say that This is why I watch your video's. I hope you don't stop now, but see it through to the end. Even if it causes something to break what broke and why? I'm very interested in the outcome.
This is awesome! Love the camera setups too!
ADS is amazing! No Joke at all. I love the tractor the idea and the whole thought! Great job and video made me subscribe!
Welcome to our channel!
Little Johnny is going tractor pullin hahahhaa
Great project Tim as I'm sure lots of people, me included, would love to see just what can be done and how far it all can be pushed. It just might be shocking what it can take before the weak link is found.
I have heard that many hydraulic systems on tractors are set for much lower pressures than all the components and hoses are rated for. Perhaps that is another relatively easy project.
If you are up for making stuff, convert a truck differential to a post hole digger.
Add a down force kit to the 3 point.
What an awesome idea. Great video. Can't wait to see it with the turbo..
First, I did not see this coming. Second, the head shake by your wife at :26 :) So true!!
This is a great project! Excited
Been thinking about doing this same thing on my 3025E, once warranty is finished. Keep up the awesome videos.
Hot dog!! This is going to be Great! Looking forward to seeing the completed project of Johny-X! Thanks Tim & gang for being entertaining & Educational! God Bless Ya!
I'm intrigued! This should be a fun project!
Hi Tim,
I can't wait to see all the updates and the end results of your project.
I think that your plan to make more horsepower but still keep the tractor usable for work is awesome!
If all goes well, it might make me want to sell my 1023E and get a 1025R and add the same kit.
I was also extremely impressed with the shop that you chose to do the work!
Very impressive, the capabilities that they have!
I'm sure some John Deere and Yanmar engineers will be watching this closely!
This a great idea. If this works on the long term, this business will reap the rewards. I will be watching.
They brought up good points on the exhaust pipe. I love a pipe going up through the hood, but limbs, brush etc is a reality for these tractors. Probably the best would be to route the exhause close to where it is now.
This is very interesting I'm really curious to see what the power will be later! I did some "tuning" on a 3032 John deere fuel pump and because it was already turbocharged the power increase was almost unbelievable! We used it that way for several years if I had to guess it was right around 40hp and the capability of the tractor was so much better!
This is awesome guys. Cant wait to see the final result.
I think maxing out the size of the hydraulic pump should be next! Like the video you did earlier where they swapped the pump for a larger displacement pump that still fit where the stock one did.
So cool! Can't wait for it to be done, feels like a cliff hanger and having to wait until next season to find out what happens. Hope it all works out so a kit will be available for those that want it.
This is why we need to make more stuff in the USA.
So next season we find out it was... ALL JUST TIM'S DREAM! LOL
Nooooo!
for how meny 1025R that have been produced, it's amazing someone hasn't come out with some kinda turbo kit for these things. I think they'd be millionaire's. cuz I'd purchase one tomorrow! I enjoy watching your shows! thank you 😊
Christy is like, I don't think so Tim! LOL Now all you need is a metal hood that won't melt from the turbo heat. Would also be easier to modify the hood to make room for the exhaust system. This will be the most interesting thing to see, how they manage to squeeze it all under the hood. With a turbo, a muffler is not a requirement since the turbo acts like a muffler, and you will hear some turbo whine, but not a lot. If they can match the outlet to the factory downpipe, you will like it. The exhaust manifold is your biggest issue, but a good welder can make one that will be a perfect match.
Sounds like an 80s kid’s dream. Turbo power!
I did not see this coming, but I think it’s awesome!!
Now youll have a super johnny! cool vid tim keep up the great content.
Tim, you looked like kid in a candy store in the parts aisle. Keep up the good work!!
Scheeeew! That lil Johny is turning into a beast lol straight pipes are fun but really only if you got a coke/ coal roller in my opinion but I think keeping Johnny X should look externally as stock as possible for corporate nerds and classic fans to drool over. Straits might make it cheaper and utilize the boost exchange but your not trying to pull that hard like you said. I’m loving this though thank you Tim and the Misses for letting you do this 😃👍❤️
Great shop tour!
Need to install on 3025E to see what particle horse power you could get.
Maybe like 35-38 without regen would be nice
This is an awesome project, i always wanted to know what gain a small turbo could do to a compact tractor, im exited about the next video about this👍👍👍
Very cool! This will definitely be interesting to see the results.
Looking forward to this series!
I love Turbos. I have one on my suv. It really comes on at 2500 rpm. More rev’s will make you happy
Awesome 👍! Maybe you should call it Bad to the Bone Johnny😁!
When you turn up the fuel you can get a lot more hp my koiti had the same block as the older35 hp model but got cut down to 25 hp for emissions reasons I simply turned my fuel up it woke the tractor up can't wait to see how this turns out
Agreed, Fuel on a Diesel is the trick to more power, adding the Turbo builds the power faster though.
@@acdii yep that's true I just tuned mine back up to what the non emission version of my tractor I put it on a pto dyno got it up to 35 hp from the 26 hp it was and no dpf crap 😁
I love this kind of stuff!
I’ll be watching this build. Thinking of turbocharging my Kubota L225DT.
This is just going to be interesting can't wait to see this as always enjoy your videos God bless and stay safe
You will have to change name to Tractor Time with Turbo Tim !!!!!!🤣🤣🤣
Area Diesel Service rocks.
This is absolutely fantastic! On so many levels.
Please put in an Exhaust Gas Temperature gauge.
I’m hooked on TTWT I bought a 54 inch plow and put on front boom, got a scrap blade, box blade JD grapple going to get bigger pump keep going it’s decent television.
1025R 260B 120D 2021 thanks for getting a new one
Love this project build.
I am putting in a guess of an increase from the 20 hp seen on the PTO dyno to 28 PTO hp.
I am sure more hydraulic flow and pressure will be in order for the super Johnny build as well.
Love the vertical smoke stack idea. How cool would super Johnny look rolling coal, out a classic vertical tractor stack .
Needs a sweet hood stack, all chrome
This is going to be very interesting. Looking forward to it.
Tim I would keep the exhaust routed as per design just a slightly larger diameter for increased flow if it needs.
Thx GB
It won't pull any harder because the pressure relief valve in the transmission will trip at the same psi, regardless of the hp. The change will be to the pto.
