Great advice, Tom.
Great tip I'll try it next time I use poly, up to now I've been pitching the brushes
Nice! I especially like the pet comb tip. 👍🏼
Great tip with the pet comb!
Thanks for a great tip. I’ve had to throw away quite a few brushes that could have been saved.
Same here before I figured it out.
I love your videos. The happy scenes and fun are awesome. Thank you, and keep them coming. God bless you.
Thank you Ron. I appreciate the kind feedback. Tom
Of course it will !! Everyone should know that but if you can’t get to the shops ??
Thanks for that. Will mineral spirits work as well?
Mineral spirits will not clean hard brushes. I just happen to be publishing a paint brush cleaner product video this sunday. Check it out.
I have 2 brushes that I used to paint with gloss varnish and now I cannot clean them. The paint remover that you are showing is not available unfortunately, do you have any other solutions ?
That's a good question. I would guess that almost any paint remover would work. Try buying a small container and give it a try. Sometimes I need to give my brushes a second treatment.

You can try - paint solvent, gasoline, acetone, xylene, white spirit, mineral and vegetable oils.
After softening the bristle and removing most of the paint, wash the brush with a detergent.
Funny, you spend all that time and you don't mention what type of paint? Latex, oil, both?
This paint remover, is it solvent-based? I think we have a lot of different regulations about use of chemicals at home (and what can be sent through the post!) My idea of paint remover (or paint stripper, as we're more likely to call it) is some called Nitromors. Is that a common product in the USA? It's pretty nasty stuff, it really hurts if it gets on your skin and has to be thoroughly washed off any wood you use it on or a new finish simply won't take. I haven't gone near it in years! I certainly wouldn't clean brushes with it! Your stuff looks a lot better - I'll definitely look out for that, or the equivalent, locally. Cheers Tom, good job mate.
I know what you mean. This product is not the same as the old thick smelly stuff I used to use. It's thinner, doesn't smell nearly as bad. The can says "Methylene Chloride Free" ...whatever that means. I will probably only use it for brushes. If the $12 investment can save me $100 in brushes, I'll do that.
Do wat I do buy a new brush
