Why is the new addition so ugly in a kind of non-descript way? Why does it look like it looms threateningly over the old building?Why weren't the architects able to make it look like it belonged to the old building? This just looks like milquetoast modernism. I'm shocked and dismayed that Robert A M Stern is part of this.
I think this is a success, if you look keenly without being reactionary and dismissive. Preservation doesn't mean blindly copying the old structure point for point
