  • This is a table top review and comparison of the German HK G36 and the American FN M16A4... More specifically, this is a Tommybuilt T36ES and an FN "Military Collector" series M16A4 AR15. We will first start with a short history of the two rifles and then move through a point by point comparison of the two. Thank you for watching!

      It's very "functional and ready out of the box". You don't need anything else to start a big killing. Even a precission quality sight for medium ranged already installed on that "handle". Foldable stock for transport. Really easy to change the barrel in a hurry. It's pretty light for its size... The G36 is a very underrated machine in USA, in my opinion.

    My favorite rifle I carried while in the U.S.M.C. was the M-16A4. Neither the A2 or A4 ever failed me. The only issue I remember have was with my A2. The auto-sear failed to stop it on the third round, and made the selector switch a true giggle switch. It still never stopped functioning. I didn't report it to the armory for months. Accuracy is also amazing with the M-16.

    • @MildMisanthropeMaybeMassive
      @MildMisanthropeMaybeMassive 4 роки тому +7

      If it became a true full auto while turning the fun switch, I would not report that either. I would consider that an upgrade.

      the autosear itself was working perfectly(ish), something happened with the stupid burst rachet. other than the burst rachet, the auto works basically the same.
      you got upgraded. officers working with the M16A2 program wanted to get rid of full auto entirely and make it semiauto. Colt Lutz has said a few times his only options were pure semi, or semi and burst.

    G36 all the way! In my opinion it is just the superior design and better accessability. it has a folding stock, transparent clippable magazines, left- and right-handed, the better charging handle (srsly, AR15. every modern firearm is building them somewhere to the front, but you stick to an uncomfy position above the stock?) and it's easier to disassemble and clean. i am trained for both, G36 (German Army) and AR15/416 (German Police), and the G36 is clearly better.

    Germany still had the 7.62, because the US made all of NATO use 7.62 for standardization, fucked up (because the M14 didn't fulfill the requirements) and then immediately made everyone standardize on something else.
    The G36 had never had any real overheating issues, that was proven to be a political stunt.
    Edit: The G36 is a wacky number in imperial, if you were to use what everyone else uses, it'd be exactly one meter long.
    You also don't push the charging handle in to charge the gun, you just grab it, charge the gun and let go.
    You can push it in only to beat down on it should it malfunction, which is rarely nessecary.

  • @rbm6184

    The G36 is supposed to be phased out in favor of the HK416 by the Bundeswehr and is already in use. France and Norway are already using the HK416. Both are piston rifles after the AR18. While the cleaner running system of piston rifles have less stoppages than DI (Direct Impingement) rifles, their problem of overheating is still there. In this match up the G36 or an HK416 would have less stoppages than the M16 but would overheat much faster. This according to US Army trial results.
    The M16A3 is not the same as the A2. The A3 is a flat top and does not have a fixed carry handle like the A2. The big difference between an A3 and an A4 is the A3 full auto and the A4 burst but both will take optics on their flat tops. A lot of the old A3s during the 80s used to have HBar or heavy barrel (used for slower heating in full auto) but those were phased out in the 90s with the A4. The A3 flat top in the 80s was the answer for the fixed carry handle of the A2 where an optic was mounted on the carry handle.
    Brownells even has a hard time distinguishing between an A3 and an A4 when it comes to the civilian semi auto version of the M16 we know as the AR15. There is disagreement over Brownells reference to AR15A4s not having fixed front sights but many AR15A4s have fixed front sights. Admittedly there is a grey area between an A3 and an A4 in a AR15. Most might agree that an A3 has an HBar where an A4 does not but even that is not really an accurate measure or difference. Maybe we should lump all AR15 flat tops as A3/A4s.

    • @chlebowg
      @chlebowg 4 роки тому +3

      Negative, the M16A3 has a fixed carrying handle with auto. You are confusing the commercial nomenclature of a A3 flat top. Only units I've every seen with the M16A3s were SeaBees. M16A4 is the only authorized flat top, 20" rifle in DOD. See TM 9-1005-319-10
