Others include getting change with old bills that are no longer accepted at banks (CR changed some of the bills around a year ago), not receiving the quantity of gas that one has requested at the gas station (no self-serve in the country, always request receipt), not getting the correct exchange rate when paying with dollars (tho some will probably not have coin change only bills). Back in the day at the feria (Farmers Market) some dishonest vendors would poke small holes and soak their fruit like watermelon in water so it weighed more or would add extra weights to their scales. "La mentirita" is pervasive in Costa Rican culture but mainly harmless and the vast majority of ticos are welcoming of tourists and foreigners living in their country

And that story about wiping out your money it' happened to somebody I know just about 1 month ago, they wanted to deposit 10 million colones to buy a property ¢80.000,000 she gave them the IBAM number, and they tried to clean out her account. But i did not work. Because there was no money in the account.😂😂😂 So please be careful.
