Then I searched for all the versions of P and P and Bridget Jones was listed as a version. I think this is where he became the most attractive person.

That first scene... I love it how despite all those quips from complacent couples, despite the whole harassing her about her love life she still manages to save her face, sweet girl
What I loved in these movies is that bridget makes mistakes and apologizes. She's not perfect and that's what makes her such a great character along with the fact she's super nice, funny and cute. Her owning her mistakes is so far away from most romance books where it's always the man fucking up and apologizing after.
Brilliant writing , comically and beautifully depicted by all actors. They all play their roles perfectly. The famous straplines forever written in our memory .

I admit that I never watched Bridget jones. I was barely a toddler when it came out and was never much into romcoms as a teen. Now I’m in my 20s and learning about British culture and literature. It didn’t hurt either that Mr Darcy and Mark Darcy stole my heart completely.

I met my mark darcy 7 years ago... 32 years apart, the resemblance between them is astonishing, there are literally the same person in different bodies and countries. Same life quality, same manners, same way of walking, same voice, same physical features, same mindset ... SAME EVERYTHING!!! I still can't figure out how GOD may have made the same being twice.
I love the bridget Jones movies as well because there's a fourth bridget Jones movie coming out in February 2025 in the cinemas around the world, and hopefully, it will come to the UK because i cannot wait to see it. ❤❤

Perfect film .. these two are perfect for each other their differences binds them greatly together. The real movie hero. I enjoy so much the humour 😂😂 in this film. Favourite trilogy by far. Her messed up ways make her so humane and he’s proper,polished sweet rational and no so emotional. Apparently they called it quits many times cause she really needed to love and accept herself. The bad timing in her life makes it all the more entertaining I feel

This movie is a take on Pride and Prejudice, That story made sense to me, but this one doesn't. I realize this is a bit of farce, but the attraction that Darcy has for Bridget is something I can't quite grasp, even inside a romantic comedy/parody. I know he finds her amusing and that she is a sharp and possibly refreshing contrast to his own ordered, privileged, and intellectual life. But we never do hear exactly what it is about her that makes him fall in love with her "just as she is". Being amused and physically attracted doesn't quite cut it with the complex character that Mark Darcy presents. There are times when most of the attraction seems to be about his rivalry with Hugh Grant's character in the story. But.......again....it's a comedy, and it doesn't matter so much if the dynamics make sense. It's a fun watch.
This is one of my favorite movies, that said you're totally right! There's gotta be some suspension of belief because Mark barely knows Bridget by the end of the movie, they barely even have a conversation! I can only assume perhaps they chatted after the interview and at her birthday dinner, but apart from that, nothing!
@@once.upon.a.time. I don't know if you saw it...and if not, here's a spoiler alert. The sequel has them talking and arguing a lot because they are so opposite in personalities. They discuss possibly having a child and argue over how they would raise it. And a little comes out about how different they are politically as well. Then they have more misunderstandings, of course, and break up. But again, at the end, somehow they end up together, straightening out the misunderstandings, but not exactly adapting to one another ...again, they are still very different types and seem to remain so. I kept thinking she'd become more conservative or refined and he'd become less conservative or stern by the end, but.....anyway, the movies are fun to watch, but I came away from the second movie thinking I could see clear signs of impending breakups. Maybe they were considering more movies in the series. lol
