  • Kinda diffrent from some of my other videos but I figured I’d do a sort of review and build with the primeweld mig 285
    I also talk about how I sold my harbor freight Vulcan omnipro 220 for this and why #fabrication #heavyequipment #diy #welding #harborfreight #metalworking #harborfreighttools #fieldwork #benchvise #mechanic #primeweld

    Great review. I started purchasing PrimeWeld equipment for our business 4 years ago and have had great results with all of it. We own 500 amp equipment down to micro welding from the big names and the service from PrimeWeld is what is driving most all of the new purchases.

    How do you get it repaired when it breaks? I’ve been a welder for 40 years, welders break down and need repairs. Every welding supply store will repair the big three( Miller/Hobart) and Lincoln. They won’t repair that welder.

      You call up the company and get parts next day aired to you very few welding supply stores repair anything any more and infact primeweld is faster about getting parts out than Lincoln is

      @kevinthorrington2131 lol no they won't.
      Got a particular Deltaweld that keeps throwing a helpline 700 code cause the plate thing on a board inside the machine is set for 460v, not 575 like it should be. Messer keeps shipping it back to us in the same state we sent it to em. They say they can't get it to throw a code. The dummy's use 460v so obviously it won't throw the code. Wish my keyboard had a face-palm emoji.

    Will Omnipro tig setup fit on Primeweld mig285.
    Thinking of also going Omnipro to Mig285.
    Want to mig and flux outside with 1/8, 1/4, and 3/8 plate in shipyard.

    Now that you have had the welder for 10 months. would you go back and buy it again, or would you go with a different welder.

    Hey MacDaddy, really like your style. Excellent review and build. I hope you make more fabrication videos. I wanted to ask about the Evolution saw. Have you ever had it kickback when doing angled cuts? Spec.s saying it's rated for 1/4 inch thickness on mild steel. Have you ever used it on sold bar stock over 1/4in. thickness?

    Mine was delivered last Monday!!! Awesome machine!! I bought the tig 225 last summer. And one of the great things is I can buy full size rolls of wire from work cheaper than going to a welding supply store. Dual shield roll 150 for dw50 mild. And I can get 316 stainless or aluminum also from work at their cost.

    I'm looking to get a good home shop welder to start learning to weld. Would you consider this a beginner friendly machine?

    • @macdaddydiesel
      @macdaddydiesel  10 місяців тому +1

      Maybe not the 285 but they do offer a mig180 that’s a great cheep beginner machine it’ll do about anything you need! The 285 is a killer machine but if you don’t need the amps of the 285 the mig 180 is great

    The cart is overbuilt, but I like the look of things that are overbuilt. It's a style all its own : - )

      Its been pretty good I’d like to change my handles and I’d swap it back to fixed casters on one side but otherwise I wouldn’t change much

    Nice cart build! I got the same Evo Saw. I also bought their bigger 14" saw as well and put both of them on the same table with the fences lined up. Works well when I'm cutting multiple pieces with different angles. Very efficient being able to cut a miter on one saw, then slide it over and do a miter or bevel cut on the smaller saw.
