    Great video MRP.
Thank you for sharing Kasm with your audience.
Sorry for the issue with the extension not always working, we will get someone to look at that right away.
Another note about the /dev/fuse issue. This may be a consequence of running in a LXC vs VM. Fuse by the rclone plugin that we leverage to allow users to map in their cloud storage (Google Drive, Dropbox, Netxcloud etc). So its possible this feature may not work in this setup.
    Thanks again 👍

Regardless to minor issue, KASM Workspaces are just straight form the future.
      Everyone needs to try it.
      Thank You KASM Team!

For anyone that ran into the /dev/fuse issue when setting this up in an LXC, it worked for me after removing 'sudo' from the command to run the setup script.

4:40 Tagging to easy show the IP. Brilliant!

I never thought about it. I just reserved the IPs from .100 to .250 and I just assign them manually to match the container (or VM) number.

thank you, I have KASM setup on my UnRaid box using a Ubuntu VM. So today I learnt that I needed to upgrade my system..done. And I learnt about the server function and about the KASM extension, so a big thanks!

How easy was that. Ive tried other UA-cam vids of Kasm Installs, which have failed or been too difficult to follow. But this absolutely worked for me. Will definately have a look at some of your other videos. Thank You !

You are creating such amazing videos! I stumbled across your channel while setting up my homelab for the second time and absolutely love your work. I have one question though: When should I use Proxmox containers as opposed to Docker containers inside the Docker-Ubuntu VM? I want to keep my setup simple and was wondering why to use the proxmox containers at all. Is there a good reason to do so or maybe a rule I can follow to decide what to use for different containers? I am looking forward to hearing from you,
    David

      Thank you for your comment.
How i choose what runs where. Depends on a service i want to self-host and is it critical for me to make sure that it is always ONLINE.
For example : Cloudflare tunnel, pihole and tailscale runs inside VM. Reason? - these 3 things MUST be online all the time otherwise my home network falls apart and thinking ahead i have them inside VM because when i moved to Proxmox Cluster, VM migration happens "Online" where LXC containers migrated in "offline" mode. Online mode means that VM still functioning during migration where Offline mode shuts down LXC container, migrates and start back up again. These 15 - 20 sec while LXC would be offline will cause me trouble which might take 20 - 30 min to correct.
If you planning to have a bunch of docker containers and they are critical for you, i suggest to go VM and when you go Cluster down the line you won't need to move all from LXC to VM
Witch LXC containers to can increase HDD size while LXC is running. with VM you need to shutdown and start back up again to take effect. I am using LXC containers more for testing purpose. Set everything up and at the end check how much space that service will use, then create VM with same storage + couple extra GB just to be safe and all service gets moves to VM for Proxmox HA.
Some services already have TurnKey LXC template. For example JellyFin. IF i have JellyFin LXC template with everything that it needs, no need for me to mess around with Docker to have same service going and i won't be mad if jellyfin will go offline for 30 - 45sec during HA migration.
I hope this will help you....

Ok, my friend! This is pretty darn slick! I have it installed and the plugin working. Wondering if there is a way have a pick list of workspaces when I choose to open a link via the extension. In other words, ask me each time I select open in kasm to ask me what to open it with?

what is the use case here for using Kasm Workspaces?

    • @MRPtech

I am using to check all sorts of links i receive to my YT Email. Bunch of "company" sending me links to their products which turns out to be hidden scripts with malware.
For work i am using it to check websites developed by my team. As i am checking same website multiple times, browser keeps saving pages to cache which then hides things that are done. Instead of clearing cache on my mains browser i just spin chrome/edge/brave browsers in KASM. Simple and easy.

I like idea behind kasm but one thing i do not apreciate is limit of 5 concurent sesions on open source version so if i decide to use it i will certainly have to play with source code of open source version to remove some limitations for my self and make some changes so i can use it if i decide to run business without worrying if kasm will harass me for not paying for it because i use it for business.

    • @MRPtech

I am 100% sure i seen settings inside Kasm where you can change how many concurrent sessions you can have running.
Will check once i am back at my desk

      You are correct!
I can't find that option o.O i must be dreaming ... i was 100% sure i see that option. And after quick 5 mins of googling .... "Kasm Free version allows max 5 concurrent sessions" ... dang it

@@MRPtech kasm free vesrion isn't same as open source. free version is set from get go so you don't have to do stuff yourself and it's one of the plans because they host server for you so you're using kasm's server for remote acces not your own. There is open source section too where you can see what you can get from github. When it comes open source always look for selfhosting because then you don't have any limits. workspaces, kasmvnc etc are on github and i beleive you can set that up yurself and in that case you don't have any limit because you'd be one hosting kasm server.

    • @raughboy188
      @raughboy188 3 місяці тому

@@MRPtech community version is free for use and has no version but according to reddit they don't allow us to use comunity version for business and stuff but there are not limits there. All components for kasm workspaces are opensource but the platform or ui isn't opensource because their plaform is hosted on their cloud and that's what you pay for.

I was continually getting the error you mentioned no matter how many times a ran the install. I got past it by checking "FUSE" in container options (needs Docker) and in "Resources" added passthrough path of "/dev/net/tun" (without quotes). I still get the Wireguard error that it prompts me to press Y/N for during installation though.

      Are you using LXC container.
