keeping the elbow low before the leg drive also improves the shoulder line pointing upwards and keeps the weight on the back foot

I don't know why these online "coaches" are keep twisting the samething. there is no elbow down or up: if you draw a line alone your shoulder, your elbow should be UP to that line. or your upper arm should be perpendicular to your spine.

Yes. there is no elbow up or dwon actually when body(shoulder rotation). When you start hit th ball, your hitting up arm is up to your should level, then you rotate around center of your body. hitting up-arm(elbow) at the same level of shoulder will give the most max speed of body rotation. "Elbow Up" is the sequence of body(shpulder) rotation, is a byproduct.
In one word, put your hitting up-arm parallel to youe shoulder before body rotate, to get maximum speed.

@@robertwong-w5s as i said, the key here is that the coach's description is misleading. the elbow is for sure up and down because your body movement. when you said move up and down, you are giving viewer an impression that they need to do something. often they would understand as moving upper arm in order to move elbow up and down. in this case that's not true. elbow should remain roughly perpendicular to the torso. when you see the elbow was up and down, that's the result of body swing.
