It seems odd that the red dice would go back in the bag after it is cured. I would have expected them to be removed from the game. Perhaps I misunderstood something.
The fact you've got the cure from the infection doesn't mean the population is vaccined or the disease is already contained. You do however get a huge help from having a cure ready because with one syringe you can treat ALL the dice of that color in a region or in the treatment center. So, while you are fighting to contain the spreading of 3 viruses per turn (which becomes 4 then 5 later in the game as the infection rate increases with biohazard rolls) with 1 syringe per die, as far as THAT virus you cured is related, it then becomes 1 syringe for ALL dice of that color. Since the number of action dice you have is limited (and more limited if you have collected samples) this is a great help and don't forget if you need a syringe, reroll and get a biohazard you accelerate towards your doom. Controlling the cured diseases by checking at where it's more likely they may come back is a great way to PREVENT other, uncured diseases, which still need 1 syringe per treatment, from spreading. You must always keep in mind the 48 dice of different colors in the bag to be rolled at the end of your turn... so, as you put back with minimum effort the ones you've cured, you REDUCE the probability of getting in the regions those dice you'll need 1 syringe each to treat. ;-)
Good review. Looks like a game that will settle alongside Forbidden Desert/Island and Pandemic just fine. I don't know why I love games that are mean to me. I just do.
Haha I love Pandemic and I hardly ever win .... Same with Space Hulk Death Angel. I think I've won 4 or 5 times from about 40 games! I like the challenge though.
@Giles Warr In fact, you could play it similarly to the original game: when all the dice of a colour on the board are cleared, the disease is eradicated ;)

Don't worry bud, a lot of us are trying to figure the same thing out. Just breathe, and settle into the meanness, it's easier that way.
