A Pro fracking commercial played before this video. Interesting.

People grossly exaggerate all this "negative impact." I live in PA too. Most people I hear complaining coincidentally also enjoy low energy costs by being natural gas customers themselves. And if they're not, they're using oil. Which I guess is okay if that's drilled somewhere else. Hypocrisy.

This is the best video I've seen on fracking, and I've seen alot. Thank you for your great work.

You need to do your homework. I have been a fracker for nearly a decade, and although I agree that the over usage of water is horrendous, there ARE ways to manage it. Don't buy into the shock factor value of people getting sick, it's simply not feasible. This process is safe in it's entirety, and if you still disagree, I welcome anyone to email me and I welcome you to join me at work. If you still are against it, push up your plastic horn rimmed glasses, take a sip of your mocha, and type y

Good video. It was at partially based in fact which is more than most of the anti fracking groups in America can say.

Last I checked franking has been taking place since the. 1950"s!

Probably not as early as you stated, but all I know is the year I graduated from high school in 1982 I've been literally the well testing operator that actually opened the crown valves on the wellhead and blowback procedures. Never ever had one single health issue.

EPA Lisa Jackson on Hydraulic Fracturing: "I'm not aware of any proven case where the fracking process itself has affected water."
That's odd didn't the scientist in the report say there is ample unequivocal evidence in the US?

Any idea how much methane gas is released into the atmosphere by this process, globally?

The population density in Canada is much lower than Pennsylvania. More people will benefit. The rest of the country also benefits.

We've not gotten gas from fracking before 98, and not in any significant amount since after around 2005. There's plenty of gas without fracking. Maybe you should drink fracking fluid.

The water is used ONCE to fracture the rock then you get a source of gas for 40 years.

Don't do it , Canada ! Come to Pennsylvania and see all the damage the gas industry has done to our environment and changed the landscape and our lives for the worst. Only about 10 % of the people benefit in any positive way and the others have to endure the impacts.

Ubergopher, where do you think rain comes from? We have been using the same water that the dinasaurs used. It's a cycle - evaporation of the ground water turns into rain. The wells we drilled only a decade ago were not the same process. They didn't use nearly the same amount of water nor did they mix it with all the chemicals to make the toxic water. It was only vertical, not horizontal, so it didn't cause earthquakes either. I wish you were right. : (

Governmental officials are people. People can be persuaded to say and do whatever someone else wants with assault or money. A third party needs to ensure that the officials do their jobs.

That's odd, we drilled wells that were fracked in the early 80's.
Over a million wells have been fracked.
Why do the idiots in this vid say it is new?
It was invented in the 1850s.

I used to cater to Fracing fields here in Texas I quit a few months ago cos i was moving. At the time I didn't know much about it. I can tell you this though. All of the air around these areas smell and is heavy and toxic. The people who work on the frac sites maybe 1% of them know the environmental impact and the rest get paid great money to do what seems to be an honest days work. But i say this. how bad are these frac guys gonna feel when the earth is gone, and their children have nothing.

Do you use solar on your house? Renewable sources aren't nearly as efficient and they're not profitable. I assume whoever employs you is in business to make money. Solar is too expensive to be widely used. Only time time it's even seemed remotely a good option is when lots of subsidies take down the price. How about wind. Do you want windmill farms everywhere?

    • @stephenverchinski9967

ZorlocMortimer I have had Solar heating adapted to my house since 1987. My heating season is down to usually about 2 months. Have 1.2 kw PV on my home for over a decade. I like my clean efficient solar power. Next is a solar carport and an EV. The industry is doomed as people wake up.

In Pennsylvania the gas industry paid for the Republicans Candidacy all the way to the Governor. Then with a closed door session of Republicans and GAS industry lawyers created H.B. 1950 or ACT 13 that took ALL ZONING laws away from Boroughs, Townships, and Cities with anything that applies to Gas Drilling and/or the Gas Industry. And they are forcing the Counties to sign on to this or they will not get any of the excise tax. And they have forced polling if you refuse to sign a lease.

Try watching "Solar Power Revolution - Here Comes The Sun" on utube.
Aren't nearly as efficient? .. solar cells today can get 20% efficiency which is more than a combustion engine gets.
As for too expensive to be widely used .. see the video.

I love the way the investigator drives around in a gas sucking suv. I also like the guy in another video who lights his cigarette from a jug of freshly drawn water. A cigarette? I'll bet they still drive cars!. There's more danger of the turkey lady whiffing turkey shit than flare gas. I work on frac sites. TURN OFF YOUR LIGHTS, SELL YOUR CAR AND TURN OFF YOUR FURNACE. I DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GONNA HEAT WITH CAUSE THEY'LL BE NO TREES TO HUG IF YA CHOP EM DOWN. JUS SAYIN.

DjDougie65 Been so outraged by the industry that pollutes and wants my fresh water in the dryest areas of our country. Want us in my opinion out of here or if we stay we can just drink bottled. I now have been looking for my first EV. If I was in B.C. I would be angry at how the royals treat their subjects. Horrible.

Do you rally want "low energy cost" when you are putting at risk your health or even your life. Not only the amount of water needed is massive more thousands of litters of waters just for one fracking operation. And natural gas is dirtier during its life time than oil.
