Great video Bill The Powerstroke community can never thank you enough for the knowledge and experience you share.
You are a huge help, I thank you very much!
Good input! Thanks
yes! do more about 7.3 i know they are "old" but we love them
Very good information Bill. I always learn something from you.
Best Wishes n Blessings. Keith
Wish you guy's were in MT...
Thanks Sir. It’s a Big Help,all ur videos ✌🏻😎🇺🇸
South Louisiana
Simply the best 7.3 videos in my opinion. Thank you
Thanks for another video for us 7.3'ers! I still say these trucks will be more and more sought after as they are getting older, fewer, and beaten to death.
Did install a steering column temp gage from Summit 07 .
Unfortunately the column cover is designed for automatics mine truck a manual 5spd so I have a gaping hole where the shift lever is.
Is there a column gage assy to replace the automatic shift lever.
Gosh, I love your videos!!
Got to love the ole excursions
I have that transmission cooler in my excursion 7.3 2wd pulled my boat to key west last year in July highest my transmission temperature got was 155 they work great definitely a must have for your 7.3
I added a 33,000 pound cooler to my 2000 7.3 F250. amazing how munch heat it gets rid of. Mine is mounted in front of the condenser!
That’s a heavy cooler.
Sure your engine runs cool.
But can it move 33,000lbs?
Good ideas for my 02 Excursion 7.3
I Love my 7.3.
What a great Video and a fantastic idea. We will be taking the 7.3 X all over the US this summer. Better get this done prior to hauling around the RV.
Thanks for a new 7.3 Video Bill I suggest you use the video description to put your website link and also link to these products you are recommending. also I once changed the radiator on my truck I didn't know how much trans fluid the radiator held and after the swap I was low and didn't know how much to get. idiot? yes but it was an emergency and I did it on a sat
it would be perfect if you added a link in the description so we know specifically which one to buy. just putting it out there! thank you for all the insightful videos! they help out a ton.
Thanks for a good video. Gonna buy this quality parts😊👍🇧🇻
Why didn't you spray-dye the gauge pod to match the steering column?
Can you do (a) video(s) on 7.3 injectors?
Since you had the cooling system drained, why didnt you install the type of upper radiator hose that routes behind the fan belt instead of going through it? To replace the belt now you have to deal with the hose and anti freeze.
My truck is a 2001 7.3 zf6. Do the Mishimoto radiators work with the manual transmissions as well, since the transmission oil circulates through the radiator instead of having its own seperate cooler?
Thanks
Now, take the factory trans cooler, and make that the power steering cooler! lol. Good video!
I put the Mishimoto trans oil cooler in my 2002 Excursion with zero modifications. Bolted right in
Does the increased size of the trans cooler affect the radiator efficiency ?
thank you
should of atleast changed the upper radiator hose so when the belt breaks you dont have to remove the hose and hot coolant on the side of the road. switch to e99 and just swap the belt.
Unless I missed it somewhere, can I get a guesstimate of parts and labor for the radiator, trans cooler and intercooler for my 7.3?
@eric batrez - Not true. Always get a price dip shit. Just because you have money, why would you want to pay more for something if you could get it for less somewhere else. Also, her question is asking for parts and labor on a "job" for all three products. I suppose you would just take your truck to a shop and just say "bill me".
I'm hoping this year to put mishimoto everything on my 7.3 truck. So far all I have are just the boots/sleeves lol.
I had to delete the ccv on the 6.4. The intercooler would get full of nasty thick oil. I would take the lower boot and just pull gunk of oil every time now it's clean just need a oil catch can since all you see is oil smoke at the red light
Hey Bill thanks for the video. Do have have the part number for the Radiator and Trans cooler? I have a 99 7.3
As a plumber I'll tell you that the adapter job you did from 3/8 to 1/2 inch was a complete hack job if you do those jobs a lot just go pick up a bunch of Barbed fittings from Home Depot. $3 each tops. Love your videos. Helped me so much with my 96 F-superduty (450)
The mishimoto radiators are known to cool less effectively than the stock rad. Around town is fine, towing up a grade in 100* heat not so much. I got mine from performance radiator. Same company bulletproof diesel uses but costs half as much.
Bill have you ever heard of a 6.7 powerstroke with a p0170 code for fuel trim malfunction bank 1? ive spoke to many people about this code and no one has ever heard of it or knows how to fix it. thanks
what do you think about using these parts on an International T-444E? im looking for a solution on my old school bus to get rid of International's Crappy split radiator design.. I just wondered if the turbo is the same on the 444 as the 7.3 (I realize I have to Fab bracketry for the radiator and charge cooler. and Trans cooler.. I dont have an A/C condenser as thats underneath the bus instead of on the front.. what are your thoughts?
Cool video Bill, good info. Doesn't apply to me unfortunately however, 'cause the tranny in my 7.3L is the 6-speed manual. (thumbs up!) 'Might be worth looking into the intercooler...
powerstrokehelp.com if I have a 6 speed 7.3 do I have to worry about this?
Will the Mishimoto transmission coolers fit a 2003 E-350?
Hey guys do you still need to run your transmission lines into the radiator if you install the transmission cooler
Was the factory 7.3 trans cooler part of the stock radiator. My mechanic just told me mine was plugged during a trans service and said he abandoned it in place and put in a 6.0 trans cooler. Does this sound correct.
As long as I know thread sizes I can manage.
I've been wondering about this transmission cooler vs the ATS model for my 2000 7.3L ..... I lost my first Transmission at 250k right before Christmas 2015.... I'm not happy with the OEM cooler that Ford put in.
l live in Norway and mishimoto newer answers me about those coolers you mention.
How can l buy them?
I would love to get my 7.3 truck in there for upgrades and service. Ive left multiple messages and cant get a call back to save my life!
Looks like the transmission system will require a lot more fluid with the much larger transmission cooler.
they sell a direct fit for 375 now and 860 for the radiator and 1,105 for the intercooler...
How low is too low for a trans temp at full operating temp? Normally there around 200, would going lower then 150° affect its performance at all?
Also if you never tow or hardly ever with a 7.3 is there any need to do a 6.0 tran rad?
FishFind3000 if you do trailers over 10k pounds and every day nearly it would be worth it definitely but just occasionally light towing just replace your transmission fluid you should get a transmission pan with extended capacity and it makes draining and filling it much easier the transmission used on the 7.3 is the 4R100 automatic the pan cost around $300
No keeping any automatic cooler than 150 is awesome. If keep with fluid/filter maintenance the trans will never have an issue unless the driver hurts it somehow really. Heat kills sealing rings. Rubber piston seals and clutch frictions. When this happens ur day is done.
So is this modification that you think is needed if you're not doing any Towing at all?
Will this fit the obs 7.3?
Will this work on the 97 year models?
parts in the description?
Last week in Phoenix I met a family with a 6.0 F250 who had your company "Dealer Proof" his truck. He has had many trouble free miles since. They are full timers. Just thought it was great that he had nothing but great things to say about the work you guys did. Sorry I did not get his name
Does this work on the E350's as well? I have a 2000 E350 with the 7.3ltr. I love it but nothing is easy to work on or fix on it.
Preach brother. I have an E450 7.3. Just had to do injectors and hpop.... nightmare to change.
I'm in Chicago and it gets pretty cold here. Will that large of a cooler hurt in the Winter? Keep up the good work, your info is a valuable resource to all the Powerstroke guys!
Hey bill do you know if that bigger transmission oil cooler will fit into a 03 van with a 7.3L?
xMoose338x I am running the stock cooler and a 15x17 (I think) Jeggs cooler in tandem on my 7.3 2002 van. Seems to work pretty well
I'm curious. Can I get a factory 6.0 trans cooler and put it on my 7.3 and will it work better than the factory 7.3 trans cooler?
do you have to worry about the trans fluid being Too cold when driving in super cold weather.. like -10 defrees f up north..
I'm from Northern iowa. We regularly see temps in the negatives and I've never had a problem with my trans temp being too cold. Just take a a few more min for the torque converter to lock up.
@@MrLoganFogt exactly. Torque converter in mine locks up after 2 miles or so in the winter. My trans temp gauge doesn't even register in the winter. And it's lowest temp is 100°
I wonder if this set up will work on an obs 7.3.? I have a 1995 and would like to have that set up on it.
Would the trans cooler work on a 95 7.3 power stroke and how hard is it to instal a trans temp gauge
Easy to do. The trans temp sensor can be installed in a plug on the driver side of the trans
i just added a Triple Gauge Pod on my early 99 7.3, whats the max the trans temp should get to when towing before damaging the transmission? Same with the Exhaust Temp, whats the highest it should get before needing to pull over to let it cool down?
Does this just apply to the automatic? If so what do you recommend I do (if anything) to improve my zf6 manual?
I have a ? Do you think you will make a video of spot the shop truck towing an ambulance?
Bill, Mishimoto just released this Last month...
Quick Release! - Ford 7.3L Powerstroke Transmission Cooler Kit
hey Bill what do think of the 94.5-97 7.3 powerstrokes?
Own a 97 they are alot cheaper do shit with than the 6.0 and on. Older truck though you might be spending more time getting some stuff fixed do to wear, but the motor cant be beat, and get zf5 don't have to worry about the trans.
i tow a boat once a week on a 100 mile round trip in south texas so its pretty hot. do you think i could just use a used ford 6.0 cooler since its not extreme duty?
JESUS.... when is it going to be one for the E line??????
Should i even worry about this upgrade? I don't ever pull a trailer with my late 99 7.3 but i do run a 50 horse tune with cold air intake.
I know it’s a old video but must say @ 186000 never any problem
Keep trans oil changed every 35000 fuel filter every 10,000 oil every 5 or 7 air filter every other oil change n some injection cleaner now n then my 2003 super duty Black Beauty still shines ;)

i have a 7.3 with a standard trans, should i get a trans cooler upgrade for it?
I prefer banks stuff
2000 7.3L: Transmission started overheating when towing. Mishimoto trans cooler did the trick. relatively easy install.
