Okay when she explained the inspo behind the look it made sense. At first it looks like it’s inspired by the golden age not the gilded age but when mentions the inspiration that I actually didn’t know about the woman who held the light bulb for the first time. It made soooo much more sense. She looks amazing
I think that’s with a lot of celebrities this year. First you think it makes no sense but when they explain the inspiration behind it most of the times I thought like , wow now it makes totally sense and fits the theme….
gilded means golden and the theme was gilded glamour not gilded age
gold and gilded are same thing. gilded = covered in gold

Yes, that's what I was thinking as well! It's not exactly what the gilded age people wore necessarily but it is part of the gilded age with a touch of glamour and made it more modern looking.

I think some people are quick to judge celebrities looks for the met gala without hearing the backstory for it. Like how it ties back to how she said the “electric light bulb” dress, some people just judge it by the look of it when we need to know the backstory of the look before judging it
