Great video, like very much to watch your learning series. Keep going. The turn left on the last rock on rear wheel is amazing 🙂 have some video how to pivot turn (bunny hop and flat turn simultaneously)?
Dude, you are not too late though maybe you won't be the next Toni Bou or Adam Raga (who started out as youngsters). Seriously there are a bunch of dudes in my club who started at your age and are now riding intermediate and expert lines within a few years of starting. Myself I'm 51 and am also just starting out. I'm still getting enough confidence to tackle the loop, much less actual sections. Best of luck to you!
My 8 year old boy wants one now looks like I need to save save save I was thinking on the oset 20. He’s had a pw80 for a fue years and he is always standing my other sone and my daughter prefer sitting lol 😂. But jack is super fit he does gymnastics after school so he has better balance than me lol 😂
Happy new year ! Great insight.this will be hard to answer with out seeing the problem, but I keep eyeing a deer path up an extremely steep embankment at least 3 bike lengths high. The take off is an asphalt road. The tricky bit is the 2ft deep and wide ditch at the bottom so no roll up, and not much room for error. Some exposed roots add flavor to the line. I am not sure if I should wheelie into it at a 45* angle and punch with the front wheel or to try to do a splat type of move over the ditch and hit rear tire first and try to just skim the front up. Any thoughts and strategies appreciated. The bike is an xr400 or a ktm300, not a trials bike unfortunately.
Definitely tough to answer without seeing it and trying it on your bike, but the splatter move might help carry more momentum and speed to reach the top. Might be hard not to get too much rebound after you hit but if you can keep that smooth it just might work! But practice is key and trying both moves to learn what works for you and your bike is best. Good luck!
What an awesome video. I think everyone watches Toni Bou and thinks that's what trials is. This is grass roots trials. There is a line for every skill level. Everyone can learn the fundamentals and slowly push their limits without doing anything way above their skill level. That first section she rode probably looks like nothing to non-trials riders. But a lot would put a foot down. There is a lot of nuance and understanding. Small mistakes add up and suddenly you are out of room. It's a very fun and challenging game. I encourage everyone to find a local club and give it a try. People in Michigan should look up www.motatrials.com. We have a good trials scene here.
Everyone does it some and observers typically allow it to a point, and they should allow some. At times it can be for safety, other times fairness, and sometimes an advantage. There is a limit however.
Nice! Looking forward to seeing the rest of the series on the RYP channel. Thanks Pat.
Awesome video! Fun to watch! Thanks for sharing! Please do more! ;-)
Great video. Well done and well edited - no fluff.
Pat...you're not human! This makes me want to buy a trials (have a beta XTrainer) and play...but I'm sure I'd never come close!

Thanks! More coming. That should be covered in a future video! We have flat back tire hops and across gaps, but not turning yet.

Well said, thanks for realizing that and sharing. 👍
What is with the "gardening"? Moving loose rocks and stuff to give yourself a better line. That's a ten!

once you reach my level of skill, you won't be so worried......plus you will make it up that bit of wood without rolling back down!... :-)
