I was so nervous for mine, but if anyone out there is worried like I was, I promise there is no need to be. I had an abdomen/chest scan and I’m not sure if this is always the case, but I didn’t have to drink a barium solution. All I had to do was fast for 4 hours before, drink 28oz of water 30 minutes before, and then change into scrubs. Once you are on the table, you basically go through a donut looking machine, so it isn’t claustrophobic at all. They start your iv, but just with saline and You do a few scans where you hold your breathe a couple of times. Then they start the injection and about 20 seconds in you get a warm feeling in your throat and it feels like you have to pee/it tingles in that area, and then you do a few more scans, and you’re done. I didn’t have any bad reaction to the injection, which I was worried about, and the whole thing was done in 15 minutes.
I have had my abdomen ct scan today. Prior to taking ct scan, I had checked UA-cam comments that terrified me most. But you know, while having IV contrast I feel nothing except an warm sensation which lasts less than 10 seconds ( this was interesting feeling, not bad or weird) , and the oral contrast was also fine. It didn't make me pass out or nauseous despite being a highly nauseous human. Don't check your symptoms in google and dont check for comments either before going for any test because they merely haunt us.
@@Harry-uy5ft no, they didn't find anything. I have got it done due to upper abdomen pain which doctor assumed it might be pancreatic problem. Acute /chronic pancreatitis.

I just got a ct scan. I did it as an outpatient. I did not eat 2 hours prior to appointment. I did not wear anything metal in the scan room. I had jeans but they gave me hospital pants to wear. I went to the prep room and I had to drink 900ml water (just like the amount of 2 16.9fl oz bottles of water). They wanted me to drink 150ml every 5 minutes. They gave me an IV as well (so the dye can enter my body during CT scan). Then they brought me to CT scan room and I laid on the machine table and the tech raised it and I had to wait 10 minutes and then the tech had me enter and exit the machine many times. Sometimes I had to hold my breath briefly. The dye, once injected, felt warm on my back and face. I did not have a metallic taste or anything like that. I just felt warm. I felt like I had to urinate, I think most likely because of all the water. My bladder felt full. When the test was finished I was able to urinate. I went back into the prep room and I drink a small bottle of apple juice (they had a choice of apple, cranberry or water). After that they took the IV out and I was able to go home. I didn’t feel too worried. It just felt like it took a while because the ct scan room did not have a clock for me to look at while in the machine.
